I Fixed My PRONATION!! How I did it, tips, tricks
When I started my journey in September 2023, I developed pronation(leaning on the inside edges) of my feet, more prominently in one foot.
I worked hard to straighten up and after hours of research, tens of videos watched, and days of training, MY PRONATION IS GONE.
Aside from the obvious─TIGHTEN YOUR SKATES, hard boot over soft boot─I'm thrilled to share what worked for me, in hopes it will work for you, too.

There are many insoles out there made specifically to correct pronation. I've never tried those but I would imagine they are also worth a try.

Literally
currently following the Skatefresh advice each day to try and correct my pronation ..... its so nice to know it will pay off
Keep working that knee-to-toe alignment. You got this 💪🏻💪🏻
I heard in other videos of pronation :))) Now I finally know what it is ! A very well thought out and informative video 🙂
Thanks 🙏🏻 happy skating (and guitar playing)!

pronation is one of my biggest problem right now, and seems like its getting worse!! thank you so much for those tips, i think it will really help me.
Oh no! Hope these tips work for you. Hey let me know if you notice any improvement 🙂
Another nice vid. Congrats❤ Asha is great, she's one of my favorite inline skating teacher online. Jiayou🎉
Thank you! ❤️ I learn SO much from Asha, amazing teacher.
Nice!! Curiosity: You use also skater socks?
No, but I'm tempted. They look extremely supportive.
@@shannon.skates You like mid calf skater socks or knee skater socks?

STOP THE OUT OF BREATH SINGING IS SO RELATABLE
hmmmm... making the outer edge more pronounced on the leading skate is something i need to try. I seem to try to get both of my skates to be on the edge equally. im also practicing parrallel turns/carving but ive only been skating for 3-4 weeks now
Parallel turns at 3-4 weeks is making incredible progress IMO! You got this. Let me know how it goes!
Hahahaa I take my ear pod out also to hear myself singing on my bike rides! 😂 rock it out woman!
heck yeaaa 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I miss skating
skating misses you, too 💝
Wow , you getting better & better !!! 😅
thank you for the support ❤️

I would say outdoors, definitely with a friend it makes it more fun! And in the warm weather ☺️
no cold sweats in warm weather!
Outdoors, but I'd love to try a skate rink ! I skate alone between 40-60 min a day, mostly for health benefits. Music only when I'm goofing around (guitar and skating). Hot, daytime. Nice vid again! keep 'em coming!
guitar and skating FTW! Right on, and thank youuu!

Outdoors, fast, alone (I haven't skated with anyone so far, so idk if I'd like that more), fun, nighttime until I get more comfortable with being perceived, music, lukewarm weather but leaning more to cold because I heat up fast.
It's hard to see pebbles and bugs at night 🥴
@@shannon.skates There's plenty of lighting in my town, and for the real dark parts I have a flashlight with me 😂 as for the pebbles, well they're also there during the day. I'd rather be stumbling at night than during the day. Only on the parts I am getting more familliar on I'm actually going fast. My country and most of its towns and cities are dense (small roads and paths), so a slower/cruising pace most of the time is necessary for me
@@spicyananaspizza cruisin' is so funnnn! good point though☝🏻 plus no one can see you stumbling on pebbles at night 😃

Omg thank you for this!! I’ve been struggling to figure out proper weight distribution and this is the first video I see that explains it well! Thank you!
❤️😊
How long it takes to go from absolute beginner to being able to glide around the park?
❤❤❤❤❤
❤️💕❤️💕
You asked for tips on the outside edge, don't know if you have nailed it down since this video was a couple of months ago, but what you have to do is be really low, lean your body towards the side you want to get the edge on (so for your right foot outside edge, be low and learn towards the right), your body will try to autocorrect because it feels like u are going to fall, but its not the case, start gradually and you'll find u are there.
im going to try this, i feel like i have to mentally fight my body to stay leaned... its like a trust fall
So glad I found your channel! I'm also a beginner/close to intermediate roller blader!!!
So glad you're here 😃😃
@@shannon.skates I have a question if you don't mind me asking! How do you plan your practices; for example, how long do you practice for? and do you set goals for each time you rollerblade? and how many days a week do you practice that helps you show more progress? Thanks so much!
hope this answers your questions ^.^

By far the best beginner tutorial I've seen so far ! You did a really good job with explaining everything ! I just bought new inline skates fr 1 80 . You just inspired me to try or learn new tricks. I've started skating again after 20 years of inactivity a couple of years ago, but I didn't learn any new things, kept doing the same old things. Keep on progressing and posting tutorials ! 🙂
Thank you for the support 🙏🏻 reading this made me smile sm You got this!💪🏼 FR1s are next on my list, let me know how you like them!
Oh schit😮
oh schit indeed 🙈
I have watched a lot of video tutorials on doing parallel turns and this is the most helpful one that I watched, especially with the diagram that shows the weight distribution. You deserve a ton of subscribers. Thanks!
This means a lot to me, thank you 🥰 Glad my little diagrams are helping!
You've got this🎉🎉
Keep it up!!
💪🏼ty! We got this!
it took me ages before i was able to do the parallel turn as shown at the end of your video. I had to first learn crossovers to be able to shift my weight to the direction i was turning too. And still it wouldnt click for me. turning right i was like: im scissoring! im leaning! Im on my edges why wont i turn right and why do i keep going straight? it was only after seeying skatefresh make a distinction between parallel turn and lunge turn. with the lunge turn you go very deep and have most weight on your front foot fully commiting to the turn and wwith parallel turn the weight is more balanced with slightly more to the back. so like 40 percent forward foot and 60 back foot. when i saw the difference in these turns i was able to learn it better. i can do lunge turns on a dime now which has sometimes became my main brake in emergency situations and i can carve down hill with the parallel turn now.
I think it's fascinating that you learned crossovers first. These are really good pointers, appreciate you sharing this! 🤙🏼
@@shannon.skates No problem :) with me I think it was a combination with lack of balance, lack of flexibility and lack of leg strength. So my learning process was: lemon drops, balancing on one leg foot, slow spin stop 180 and later 360. this was my main brake for months. then crossovers and later parallel turns and only after was I able to do t-brake. i was missing strength in my left leg to fully commit leaning into it and having my right foot as the brake. so it took a while. now working on backwards skating and doing some ramps in the skate park. i want to be able to do the power slide but i can only transition to backwards skating at low speeds at the moment. so maybe in a few months :) its a fun adventure. been seriously skating for about 3 years now i think.
@@kingpinda2 You are so dedicated. You sound like an overall great skater. 3 years in and you have all of that under your belt! I hope I can do those things at 3 years too, especially crossovers. 😃
@@shannon.skates Thanks :) its so much fun! Not hard to be dedicated when its fun :) kids in the skatepark often ask me: WHY ARE YOU ON SKATES!!! (I'm 45). Because its fun :) Even my kids started skating 2 years ago because of me. They saw dad skating and wanted skates on their own. They are now 9 and 7 and much rather go on their stunt scooter with me to the skatepark but i figure they will go skating with me again in a few years. concerning crossovers the video which helped me the most was by flowskate and the youtube clip can be found under "flowskate lesson: crossover". Its really weird. learning new stuff is HARD until its not. its HARD HARD HARD but you keep practicing or you take a break from it and then suddenly a couple days later or a week or a month you are like.. HUH i can do it! why did i think this was difficult? just have fun and keep practicing the hard stuff but maybe not 3 hours straight wanting to tackle it no matter what this instance. just 10 minutes each session or more if you like doing it and gradually it will become easier . Good luck!
@@kingpinda2 Hahaha! Yes, it's SO fun! Doesn't even feel like a workout sometimes <3 Hope your kiddos warm up to skating with you again :) Ayye I have that vid bookmarked! Flowskate has the BEST breakdown. I'm waiting for the day it "clicks", it's still HARD HARD for me :-/ gotta keep at it! It does get a little easier each time though. Before we know it, we will be pros 💪🏼
Making good progress.
Thank youu! 👍🏼

Very descriptive and love the pics that show you where to distribute your weight. Thanks :)
Glad to hear it ☺️ thanks for watching, happy rolling!
What a milestone. Congratulations! It's really inspiring to see your progress as a fellow beginner. I'm working on the drag stop too, but when I drag, I lose balance and turn. I'll follow your instructions to focus on using the toe part to drag tomorrow. Hopefully, we can progress together. Your videos are really helpful, and I love them. Thank you.
Why thank you, my fellow beginner ☺️ Hm yea sounds like too much weight on your heel, or maybe not angling your wheels against the ground enough to drag. Let me know how it goes!!
@@shannon.skates Hey Shannon, I made it! Not perfectly, but almost there. :) I guess before, my strength and balance just weren't sufficient to do it, and I was distributing too much weight on the drag leg. Thanks again for your videos! Happy skating!😄
@@willmiao3479 YES! Love to hear that! Congrats🎉
Hi Shannon, I'm excited to share with you that I managed to do some decent scissor turning this morning (only to right tho), and your video helps a lot. Thanks. I'm a total beginner and just started teaching myself how to inline skate 2 weeks ago after my 4-year-old daughter signed up for classes. It's fun and I can't wait to learn new tricks and be better. Love your videos. Keep up the good work!🥰
