You should have shown at least one photo of the same room light and dark, or at least one that did not have any molding and few windows. Light plays a big part of it.

Mouldings in Windows play with big part in that and if you just have plain walls then it can feel very small if it's all one color. I use satin White for my ceilings to reflect light because I do not have many windows in each room. Especially use it in my hallway the walls and ceiling and that does help immensely.

Rit dye sucks. They put purple in the black and red in the brown.

Why do you skip to a complete different room. Show what it would look like in the first photo you showed please. It would reflect what a normal house without molding ect would look like. Sure it looks great when you have lots of architectural design and molding to highlight. I’d really like to know how this would look in my home

What about if my ceiling is only 9 feet high? Also I want the cove- crown moldings to stand out! Any suggestions?? Maybe have lighter shade of ceiling?

Personally, I don’t care for colored walls and ceilings not this degree. It looks haunting with darker colors. I like the more open feel that white or off white brings or an khaki type color. It looks clean and crisp.

What if you’re adding full wall paneling that ties into the windows and color washing the entire room? Would you use multiple sheens or would that look weird?

I have never had a good experience at Home Depot trying to buy Behr paint. A few friends have made the same comment. Now I only go to Sherwin Williams. Love the service and paint colors are always spot on.
