Rusty's No Man's Sky Connection Sudoku Save 2 Hard
December 8, let's do a Hard Sudoku, with an extra challenge. No restarts. Logic and puzzle solving only.
As some may have noticed, the past several of my saves have involved restarts, mostly because I marked squares that I should not have, or failed to mark squares that I should have. So today I also demonstrate the difference in warnings that can be done, and set up a warning for earmarks (marks) and disable checking placed numbers against the solution, and why that should not be used. Keep in mind that even in custom games, the game platform I'm using will internally solve the game, and that's not the help I want.
I did have to backtrack to a point where I'd dropped a 7 which I corrected to a 4, but that caused several squares to lose the mark of a 7, and I realized I'd ended up in an unsolvable situation and had to back up. The game can also provide all the earmarks for me, which is again a solution set I'm not interested in. My previous saves are a bit more like solving on paper and pencil, and I may see if I can turn off the option to provide warning on earmarks, and clearing earmarks if I want more of that variety of a challenge.
If you would like to solve these before I get around to posting what my experience is, if you are on BlueSky.social, and follow the Sudoku Store account @sudokustore.bsky.social a new puzzle is posted at 4 am cst along with the solution for the previous day's puzzle.
In any case, I hope you have a wonderful day.

Took longer this time. Discovering mismarked and unmarked squares that resulted in backtracks, and restarts. twice, the second time at 19 min of play, if you want to look for that as the final restart. This is the daily puzzle in "Medium" difficulty posted today at 4 am CST on BlueSky by the Sudoku Store. You are always welcome to try this before me, or pause the video once I've shown the clue ...

This was a much more challenging puzzle than expected. I ended up with 2 restarts this time. I'm more than happy to restart when I see that all the options I'm taking are leading to dead ends, and I have no idea how far back to go. That said you do learn where some things have to go along the way. The final attempt was just under 16 min, but as I say, that used knowledge gained along the way. T...

This is not a No Man's Sky video, and I may end up moving this to another channel. In 'spare time' I've been practicing my Sudoku skills, and this past month the Sudoku Store on Blue Sky (@sudokustore.bsky.social) has started posting puzzles to solve. This ended up being a bit more challenging than the Medium my game gave me for testing things, Hope you enjoy. Follow me here, on Twitch (rusty01...

Thanks for sharing this-it’s inspiring to see such thoughtful gameplay!
Good luck with your puzzles, and keep up the awesome work! Looking forward to seeing more of your content! 🙌
Great job on completing the puzzle! I'm sure many people will appreciate the challenge. Keep having fun with your streams and best of luck!
Hey, it's sudokustore here! Really enjoyed watching your solve, great speed and accuracy! 🧩 Your channel's looking fantastic, and I'm excited to see more from you. Best of luck with your No Man's Sky streams too! Keep it up! 🙌🏼
When I have streaming going, that will also be on Twitch. So, even more opportunities for viewers. I'm considering doing 2 puzzles on streams, Start with the puzzle from the store, then follow that with a puzzle at various difficulty levels, say easy on Monday/Tuesday, medium on Wed, Hard on Thursday, very hard on Friday and over the weekend. If I stream on a day you haven't posted a puzzle on BlueSky, I'll start with a Medium from the game, and follow that with a second puzzle. according to the above schedule. That should get me a stream that runs for a bit more time. I'll also add chapter marks for the start of each puzzle, so that people who want to try solving the puzzle themselves, they can grab the start, and either do it on paper or feed it into a custom player and try to solve on their own. Lots of things that I can try.
@@RNMSC That sounds like a great plan! I’ve actually been considering publishing sudoku puzzles in various difficulty levels, but for now, I’m focusing on medium-level puzzles to reach a wider audience. However, I’m definitely planning to add puzzles at other levels soon. Your streaming idea with different difficulty levels sounds exciting, and I love that you're adding chapter marks for viewers to follow along. Keep up the great work!
It always makes me feel good to see other grey haired gamers. It lets me know I'm not alone in my hobby.
Excellent
The video was very good and enjoyable
you were great
Steam offers No Man's Sky installation only for Windows and Mac, install button is greyed out on my Zorin. Am I missing something?
You need to enable 'compatibility' for any game that isn't available to install by default. This doesn't insure that the game will play, simply that it will install the game and attempt to launch it. If you're having difficulty I'll see if I can get a video put together that shows how to install it. I may have to find a game that I currently don't own to do that, or find a Linux computer that I can install it on. That may be the laptop I'm replying on, if so that won't be till later tonight.
@@RNMSC Thanks a lot! I see on Proton's site that NMS is gold so I'm optimist about it.
Thank you
As far as I'm concerned, today ended up being a complete waste of time W.R.T. expedition 10 Redux. I'd completed the first 4 phases, gotten to the 5th Rendezvous, and would have wrapped up the save and been able to take the rewards. No such luck. Someone decided that the expedition play needed to be tied to the community milestones, and I frankly don't have time to sit around and wait for that to complete, or even sit around and contribute to that. I'm getting on a plane tomorrow (Saturday) and am not taking my PS4 with me. I won't be back till the following Saturday night, when we'll be smack dab in the redux of the Cartographer's expedition. Note that that's not to say that the journey wasn't interesting, just that it's incomplete, so I'll be missing rewards. I'll take my Switch with me, so I'll be able to complete the expedition there (I expect) but rewards for the expeditions are not cross platform. So, that kind of sucks. Oh, and I won't be streaming Switch play, as I'm not hauling around the streaming setup. Take care everyone, see you in a bit over a week.

Sup rusty!!
Im so busy theese days
Sry i wasnt in your stream im always busy sometimes
Technical difficulties at the end there 😂
Yep. Got an update to StreamDeck software, and buttons I though I was pressing to end the stream, For some reason the button that I expected to end the stream, didn't end the stream. Ideally I should have a way of testing that ahead of time, and it all just flows as part of the stream. It's not like I've hired a team of professionals to handle all of that and I as the on screen tallent get yelled at only for flubbing my lines and doing silly things like "Jumping" when I'm expected to perate a door or something. (I've been playing NMS now for over 5 years and still have that issue. I don't expect that will change any time without switchint to a new game on a new platform, and I don't think I'll be doing that today. 🙂 Sorry about that, and thank you for sticking around to the end.
Your fine dude 👍

What days do u do new live streams?
Usually I live stream Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I'll occasionally stream on Saturday, or even Friday (Occasionally I'll stream every night of the week, but that's rare. The main limitation on my streaming schedule is that I work 8 hours on Wed, from 10 am to 6 pm, 12 hours each on Thursday and Friday from 6 am to 6 pm, and 8 hours again on Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm. This past week I've been on some new medication that's affected my alertness, so it's ment that I haven't been as on top of some things as I would like. Sorry. I would have streamed last night, but for some reason my setup for capturing Switch play wasn't working. Something to troubleshoot today. Wrapping up the expedition on Switch, and I don't speedrun. A am going to see if I can get that done, and back to streaming a relaxed or normal steam session tonight. We'll see. Thanks for checking in!
I am so sorry i was late for the stream i was too busy.
Heyy!
Just so you know, I've told Nightbot to not filter on symbols at this point. So when I stream tonight, we should be good with your chat. 🙂
What is that robot in the little screen?
The 'robot' in the bottom left is a 3d printer, a Creality Ender 3 Pro, that I have printing parts to build a Circular Knitting Machine at this time.
I really seriously doubt that this is the experience either Nintendo or Hello Games wants users to have. I'll admit that I'm a new user to the Nintendo Switch. I bought and paid for the game this morning (before noon Central daylight time, so a bit before 5 pm GMT. and was pretty sure that would start the download and it would be ready to play when I got out of class this afternoon/evening. So when I started streaming at 8 pm my time, I thought everything should be set. Wrong I was. As far as I could tell it hadn't significantly started to download. So I started the download. About 15 min later it completed, and I went to start, and it complained that I hadn't downloaded it to the switch, but to some external resource. Not sure what as I don't have any external resources hooked up, it said to check my account, so I went, checked my account and found that I was no longer logged in. Logged back in, and Hey I could download the game _again_. Ok, so I did, another 18-20 min later, and the game has downloaded. Go to start playing, and I still can't play. This time the system says to check the store, where it says I've purchased the game, and I'm not seeing anything at all useful towards explaining why I can't play. System says that powering down and restarting isn't going to change it, i'll just have to sit and wait. Not really something to do when I'm trying to stream the experience, and I've already ad-libbed over 40 min of why I like playing the game, what the dev team has done, why I don't expect it will be distributed as a cartridge for the Switch, etc. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity later this week to stream actual play on the device. As will a hundred other streamers and gamers. Thank's to Whomever it is at whatever companies are involved for this less than stellar experience. As a new user of the platform I was hoping to be able to demonstrate a much better experience everywhere. No, I won't take the video down.
Well, that explains it. Perhaps I can demonstrate this on Friday?
I did mostly figure that out. Wasn't aware of the midnight local, is that midnight leading into Friday, or midnight leading into Saturday? Well, we'll see. :-) Thank you.
@@bloomingtails yeah I was about to state that too. It is preloaded on your console. You can not play it until the release day.

I shut down, about an hour early because I was thinking it would be a good idea to get a bit more rest before work last night. That would have been nice, but almost exactly 15 min after I shut down, we lost power due to the weather. Power came back almost exactly 12 hours later. I was in the process of setting up a generator to power the freezer and refrigerator today. Turns out that wasn't needed then, but we've got more weather coming in tonight after dark, so I'm glad I got the generator fired up. Had to head off and pick up some more gas, and a couple gas cans. Going to have to see about getting a couple of actual Jerry cans I think. Now to go get some sleep before heading off to work tonight.

I walked out of the room only to come back and see one of my kids smiling with my controller...all I could do was smile back....I am currently starting a new permadeath save🥴
they're not showing up in the quicksilver , done all the other steps 100%, has to be a glitch or some weird interaction
If your looking for twitch drops,or expedition drops, the quicksilver companion has those under separate categoris from quicksilver these days. For the expedition drops there may be some delay before they are available through the companion. I don't know if Hello Games expected a lot of people to complete Expedition 3 in one or two days.
@@RNMSC yeah its a bug curently, i think becuse its been 5 hrs bow and nothibg is showing up still
@@joefuller3886 It's been a while since I put the video together. One thing I don't remember if I did on this, or not, is that on your twitch.tv/drops/inventory page, you need to 'claim now' the drops that you've been awarded. I think you have until some time tomorrow (Saturday 9/11) to accept day one drops, then some time the day after tomorrow (Sunday 9/12) to accept day two drops, and so on. If you don't 'accept' them in your inventory, they are not going to show up at the quicksilver synthesis companion's desk.
@@RNMSC yes done all these guess im waiting on day 3 for the day 1 drops ?
@@joefuller3886 Since I've seen streamers actually using some of their twitch drops (or at least I think that's what they are using) I am not sure what's happening in your case. There may be more recent guids out there, either as videos, or as guides on the No Man's Sky subredit. If you've tried al of those, it might be a good idea to open a ticket at the Zendesk help desk for No Man's Sky, or Hello Games to see if they can help you more than I can through here. Sorry I couldn't be more help. And the responsiveness here probably isn't great as I'm trying to do paying work and only seeing the comments several hours after they have been made.
Just staying alive in Permadeath for 30 minutes would be a new record for me! lol :D
I think I mention a few times that playing Permadeath is mostly learning some new techniques, and recognizing that everything is more expensive in resources, and harder to get. It's a challenge, and best taken on with the understanding that failure is an option. You get to keep the skills you learn after all, if not the recipes.
To answer a couple of questions that showed up in chat. Yes Meri Lizzie, I do play on PS4, but this series is on PC. Though I am using a PS4 controller. Thank you everyone who jumped in today. I was not expecting that. :-) And really need to find a better way to get chat in my field of vision when I'm playing. A game hud that doesn't show up in the stream would be kind of nice... :-)
@BlackRaven, The fastest way to make money if you have none is to get a medium refiner set up, and feed it a couple of dihydrogen and as much oxygen as you can spare. That makes salt. Feed salt in in place of the dihydrogen, again refining with Oxygen, and that makes chlorine. (2-5 ratio) Once you have chlorine, feed that in in place of the salt and it grows at 1-6, with 2-6 oxygen. A stack of Chlorine is worth about 6 million units in normal, and about 300,000 in survival or Permadeath. If you don't have access to a medium refiner, I posted a video a couple of weeks ago on how to make money by combining Oxygen and Ferrite dust to make Antimatter containers. You need the recipe, but you get that at the point where you learn the recipe for making Antimatter. That method can be made while you stand and kibitz with the pilot of the craft you buy Oxygen and Ferrite Dust from, though sometimes the pilot walks away and you have to catch back up with them.
Later on, with plant growing, and other processing, you can earn a lot more, but those are the really 'fastest' way to earn money early on. You can also harvest Salt or Cobalt Both can be found in deposits. or in minerals often as secondary elements, or for Cobalt as the primary element of minerals that can be mined in caves, on pretty much any planet. That said, finding and mining them, is in my opinion less predictable than refining chlorine from oxygen. Oh, salt can be found on any planet that has water. Not always in deposits, but often in plants and minerals, as well as in underwater minerals and plants.
Alternate save stream will be after work tonight. I'll either name it as a double and do 2 hours, or I'll do two streams with some time between them. We'll see.
Well, that's a 4th day of really crappy audio. I'm thinking this is the point where I scrapp the scene audio setup and rebuild it from the top down. I get the feeling that Streamcast OBS is treating the first audio source as the master, and that nothing done in later additions will go higher in amplitude than that first one. My expectation was that the 'mixer' would have independent levels for all audio inputs, which doesn't appear to be the case. An alternative would be for me to download each of the videos, spend an hour anda bit doing a voiceover to the video, re-combine the two, and upload the resulting file to replace the embeded video. What I'll probably do instead is run a few test videos up tomorrow morning after work, and see if I can validate the changes fix my issues. Yeah, it's a pain.
Today we learn that a better audio setup only works well when the microphone is near my mouth. Sorry.
My appologies for the audio problems. I thought I had that all tidied up. apparently not so much. For the moment it's a fairly basic fresh start. I do note that building ion batteries right off the bat is handier than hunting continuously for Sodium, and discuss some of the recepies you can start with right off the bat. We'l continue tomorrow. 22:00 UTC/GMT
Commentary on the chat. If there is a market for a procedural game that includes military grade starships and the like, I think that it would be available, or in development. I think the only market for a game that has a permadeath like results, where your character ties, and you have to start over from scratch is what we see in No Man's Sky. The next level as far as I can tell is some sort of arcade game, where in order to play after you die, you cough up another quarter, or token of whatever value the proprietor dictates. This stream is a 'Survival' stream, meaning that it plays as a survival save of No Man's Sky. Resources are much more limited, suit slot capacity is capped at a much lower level, and so on. If the character dies, (combat, environment, whatever) it retains all the knowledge that it has had, and loses all cargo in general slots. No I don't have to restart from scratch. That would be permadeath. As far as a 'mincraft in space' games, they exist. They are not No Man's Sky, but that is OK. As far as No Man's sky becoming such a game. If Hello Games decides to take No Man's Sky down that route, that's OK. It's their game to do with as they would like. If they choose not to, that's OK too. I expect to play the game as Hello Games produces it for the near future, because it's a game I enjoy playing. It's not for everyone. And complaining that developers are developing a game they want to develop and play, and it isn't a game you like, seems like someone who hasn't figured that out. The only thing that's preventing someone from starting their own independent game production company, and developing a game that suits their idea of what the game they want to play, would be the self limitations of the person espousing what they want. Write up your game idea, start designing it. Ask for help with how to get the game idea started. Pay people who will help you write it, Get samples of the game out for people to play to get investment into the game if needed. And remember the hell that Hello Games went through when the first release didn't meat the expectations set. You'll probably go through that too.

A minor note about this getting back to streaming. There are likely to be some stumbles, such as having the wrong video stream selected to monitor. Sorry about that. It gets fixed about an hour in, so feel free to jump forwards.
Solid gameplay, keep it up!
There were a couple of false starts in this, but I think I have everything at least staged for starting my unit influx. Yesterday (Sunday) I set up the gas and mineral collection. Even some that won't apply to this. (Activated Copper and Silver really don't do much for me.) I may end up setting up more refiners at one base, that may be interesting to work out, but that was pretty much straightforward. Back in "Next", I got in the habit of building bio-domes specifically for living glass, circuit boards, etc. With a 'door' or 'corridor' attached, you had 15 planting locations, with the dome on top of a round or square room, and a central ladder for access, you could plant 16 items. However with Beyond, someone decided that any 'door' or corridor should take up 3 planting locations, instead of one. By adding the optical drill to your multi-tool, you get back 'more' than you lose when harvesting if you do domes on a stick. Of course you can still set the domes on top of other structures, with central access, and get all 16 planting spots, but that has a significant impact on resources for setting up your farm. It turns out you can have the best of both though. It takes some setup, and an interesting way to plant. Step 1, use round rooms and corridors to layout your bio-dome map. Put the bio-domes on top of the round rooms. In my case I elected to set up a square room as the access into/out of the domes, at least in part so that I wouldn't accidentally delete that room. This gets a ladder in, and can be set up first. Do not add any corridors between bio-domes at this stage. Once you have all the bio-domes in place, delete the structure under them. Specifically the round rooms and corridors. This will leave you with floating disconnected bio-domes. If you made the mistake of planting before you removed the round rooms, when you delete the round rooms, the plants and minerals for the plants all goes back into your inventory. But now that you have all these floating bio-domes, you can plant them. The BuildCamera mode is mostly your friend here. If you watch my process, you'll see that you can also use corridors as scaffolding to get in position to see where everything is as well. You can 'plant' from outside of a bio-dome, and as long as there are no corridors or doors through the side, you have access to all 16 planting sites. Once you have the planting done, Then you build connecting corridors or doors. Note that if you are careful in laying out the planting, you can leave plant sites unfilled that are still available after the doors or corridors are added. This is where I had a few false starts. First up was the discovery that putting the bio-dome in with 2 corridors ate up 6 planting sites. Adding another corridor to add a side bio-dome to pick up the lost capacity bumped that up to 9 planting sites down. Also removing the access did not release those planting sites. At least not when I was planting from within the bio-dome. Next up was doing the layout and using the round rooms as access into the bio-domes for planting. Great I can plant 16 plants. Ok, pull the round room, and away goes all the plants. This is where I remembered that it looked like Xain was planting without being in the room, so I tried that, and success. I did have to pull all but one of the bio-domes at one site, and re-install them, pull the support, then do the planting, then add the corridors. Back to the first site and I gutted that one and switched it from a square that was 10 domes on a side (leaving me with 38 domes, not 39 as I was aiming for, one corner was a square room for access) I could have set it up as a 4x10 layout, but decided that a 5x8 would keep everything just that much closer to the base computer. Note as well, it helps to review how much power is being sourced by your tower of geomagnetic generators, and compare that with the output of the generators individually. I found that a tower of 8 or 10 generators only had the bottom two feeding the site. So watch out for stuff like that. I'd sort of like an option to have the generators, and extractors, "snap" together, automatically connecting power and piping so that you only 'need' to hit the bottom point, and they might look like nicer stacks as well. Not sure how that would get implemented, but probably something like the way that large rooms 'snap' together. Long day, but now I get to wait some 4 hours per cycle for the living glass farm, and some 16 or so hours for the circuit board farm. Collections at the gas and mineral sites should reach their capacities in less than 24 hours, (all should be full now) So we'll see what things look like tomorrow afternoon or so. Night all.
Rusty's No Man's Sky Connection
Planning on getting back online in the next 30 min. Debating continuing on with this save, or popping over to the PS4Pro and playing the save there with over 600 hours on it. Thanks for watching!
Going to call it a day. I got out to about 1270 light years and got a game crash. For some reason I'm now getting a can not connect to server error. Hopefully I didn't crash something a console restart won't fix, but I'm goin gto shut down and go get some sleep. Have a good day everyone. From what I can tell my firewall got overloaded, and restarted something. Essentially knocked down our internet for a bit for anything that didn't have a active tcp session. If the game needed to open a session to wrap something up, that failed and the game experienced a failure/crash. I was hoping to have something going to get that worked on soon, but that's going to bbe waiting a whild. I'll try to keep the network load down instead. :-(
Nice Hat/Barrie... Hope COPPA doesn't flag your content... NMS is Teen rated in the USA.
I've had more positive comments in the past month regarding my Berret, than I've had over the past 30 of on and off again wearing one, both in the service, and out. I very much like it as headgear, not the least because it is one of the few hats I can wear while taking pictures where if I have the flash popped up on the camera, the hat isn't going to push it down, disabling it. That's not the only reason I wear it though. I like the look myself. The Teen rating should be some protection against COPPA in the long term, as the game itself is not aimed at children under 13 by that very designation. That said, it does have characteristics that are as potentially attractive to children under 13 as they are to those of us children over 40. For a variety of reasons, I'm actually much less concerned about the FTC taking notice of the channel than I am of the automated systems that UA-cam and Google are likely to start using. Far too many people have had their accounts suspended or closed as a result of the bots involved going crazy, including this last month when someone was hosting a live stream and encouraged people to use either a green or red emoji to 'vote' for a choice, and the bots both suspended viewers who sent multiples of the green or red emoji, as it classified those as spam, and then it deleted their accounts across the Google platforms. There were even cases where people appealed the decision, one set of eyes said no it wasn't spam and cleared the situation, yet another person reviewing the contesting of the bot's decision upheld it 30 min later re-deleting that user's account. Something like an hour or so into the stream, the word started getting back to the streamer that people were getting accounts terminated, and why, and he very explicitly told people not to send multiple emoji as their vote, but it was pretty much too late. So while I really don't trust the FTC at this point, I have far less trust in the UA-cam bots, especially considering the vaguness of the guidance we've seen so far. In the long term I expect that UA-cam will add support for the loophole that COPPA proides, where the content can be shown to all users who are subscribed and monitization will continue where viewers over 13, with no monitization for views by viewrs under 13, not because of what UA-cam will think it's a good idea, but beccause Google AdSense will have to support those restrictions on all of the sites where the organizations require that advertisers either support the solution, or go away for advertisers that will support the solution. I just have no idea how long it's going to take before Google abides, and UA-cam sees the added revenue as a bennefit. Once that happens, I think that the only thing I'm going to have to do is be a lot more careful about my language during streams. Granted I think I'm mostly OK, ut I've noticed after the fact that I've expressed some explitives when my character is killed. I may have to start addopting replacements like Frell, Shazbot, Chriton!!! and the like if that's going to be an issue. Thanks for the feedback Steve and the concern. I'll continue to watch your streams when I get the chance, though you might see me under one of my other channel id's (RustyYouDontNeedHisLastName, rusty0101 or Rusty at work) I'm not publishing much under any of those channels, they exist mostly as a means for me to partition off things that I'm doing on UA-cam. So I can have playlists of content that's for me alone, for me in 'public, and for content I'm comfortable viewing occasionally at work. So if you see me as one of those, feel free to say Hi!. Have a great week. Tier 3 just completed, but I'm not really interested in Aries Visage. Looks too much like someone might try to see what I'm thinking.... Mostly happy with Mercury's vissage to tell the truth. :-)
Keep in mind that this is my decision, and I'm not pushing anyone else to take the same direction. A big part of this is that I live and work in the USA as a US Citizen. I am not a lawyer, so none of my comments should be viewed as legal speak. Every content creator and publisher should look at the law for themselves and work out how best to abide by it. And the law in question being related to all of the laws that affect your content. As I'm a US Citizen, living in the USA, and using a USA publishing company (UA-cam,) for the most part USA Laws apply to me. The fact that some locations add further restrictions to where my publisher can publish my content impacts me, and the availability of my content in those locations, but it's not really the aspect that I'm concerned with. My decision is based on my interpretation of COPPA, and my opinions on the people assessing how those interpretations are going to be applied. All of that is subject to review and it's possible that we will see the interpretations being much more liberally (or conservatively) interpreted in the future, with other results going forward. As I note, if after some time I see significant changes that would make my content less likely to be identified as targeting children, and the like, I'll reconsider starting to use UA-cam as a distribution/publishing medium. For now I don't see sufficient incentive to continue using the channel as a means for the FTC or others, to penalize me for sharing with you the joy of what I'm doing. I'm not interested in beign a test case, or anything like that. I'm pretty sure that I'm not the first person that the FTC would target, but OK. So for now this channel is going to be sort of dead. But I won't be. -Rusty P. S. - The videos of the people at the FTC explaining what is going on, and what they think will happen, show far too much joy at the prospect of fining content creators for my taste. But that's part of my concern.
