God ,as a teenager who loved fishing I looked forward to see Gadabout in the 60's , fantastic memories he cared about the water environment before it was even an issue.
They had trout back then?
I just came across your videos when I was about 6 years old one of my favorite books was gadabout gaddis the flying fisherman. These videos took me back half a century. I loved that book and these videos. Thank you very much
I grew up watching GAD , and AMERICAN SPORTSMAN with curt gowdy , that's when life wasn't complicated!!!
A pair of Oneida Lake walleye assassins named Bob Rioux along with a friend Dave Plewes each from Syracuse NY where behind the scenes fisherman for Ole Gaddie back in the good days. They would hook fish and then handed off the pole to the man..... Miss you Pop. No fear though,,, we,re still slaying them on Oneida
This could be the only video of bowfin being the target...the flying fisher...how long have i watched him ..???
Wish dad never sold his company gadabout use to belong to the Gaddis family. What happened to making horse saddles and leather gun holsters?
John Lurie's "Fishing with John" brought me here.
No catch and relese lol
Remember watching Gaddabout on our 1st tv 📺!! Black and white
I wish I hade those brand new Shakespeare wonder rods
xl bone. very cool.
It's interesting that he thinks the Glen Canyon Dam is gorgeous. It only ruined one of the most gorgeous places in the USA. If things keep going the way they are going all that backed up water will be gone some day and all those beautiful walls and shoreline will come back and hopefully that chunk of concrete will rot away.
Gadabout was the original the great complete common sense, no gimmicks, I learned so much from this man I studied ichthyology and University to learn more about fish I learned more about fishing from gadabout he was the very best he was decades ahead of his time he made my life and my sport so much more enjoyable God bless him🤝
Always looked forward to this and the American sportsman
That was the best
Looked forward to this and the American sportsman
My favorite when I was knee high
I'd like to think Floyd hollered "F*CK" when he lost that first one, but thank goodness its the sixties and a lapel mic cost $3,000 and had to be hard wired to the recorder...
Thanks Mr.Bulgine for these videos was a child when we watched them so many years ago, now I'm 61 and have been looking for these many yesrs.
Memories, good God. As a kid, but long ago as now 64 I remember when me and my father looked forward to this show back then. Can't be beat! Blessings! 👍🎣🙏
This guy used to put me to sleep decades and decades ago; it was on the weekends and there were at most 3 choices for TV: baseball, golf, or this fishing guy. I have searched him out since now I can't sleep worth a damn anymore I figured he may do it again. We shall see, or not. Maybe I need Sky King instead?
One of the originals
I don't want to create controversy, but that's my dad landing the plane at the start of each episode, not Gad. They needed the plane to land in just the right spot for the camera to catch it properly and Gad couldn't do it, so he asked his good friend, my dad (a crack pilot who had trained fighter pilots in WWII) to do it. One of the more obscure meaningless facts of television history. Our family stayed with Gad once in Maine. I still remember as we landed in his field. I was a little freaked out because I'd never landed on grass before. We passed over Gad himself who was down below driving his tractor. He was a very friendly and relaxed guy and had a great house, kind of log cabin-esque but huge with giant windows looking out to a wide river, though this is a memory over 50 years old, so who knows how my brain has embellished it. I remember that he loved lobster and made a point to eat lobster in front of me that summer because for some reason lobsters grossed me out when I was young and he enjoyed the look on my face. What a different world. Good times!
Thank you for sharing that bit of "behind the scenes" TV magic with us! Your memory of your family's experience with Gad - from dad being a pinch pilot for the intro, to experiencing "the way life should be" here in Maine - is a wonderful treat to read, and we are glad you took the time to comment. I'm glad these memories have gotten better with age!
Great guy he was a mans man.....rip
Absolutely! Thank you for subscribing to our channel!
Cool- my old buddy was talking about these from back in the day! And voila here he is.. Gaddabout G the flying fisherman
Absolutely! He was one of the very first in the outdoor media industry!
Excellent lure!!
Thank you! It is versatile in that you can cast/retrieve, troll, or vertically jig the 49er. It is an excellent walleye jig through the ice as well!
Awesome video and lures.
Dude was really horsing that skiff around...
I love these lures.. they work great on the Great Lakes for salmon!
Thx for the share... cant wait to use more of Al's Goldfish Lures on Lake Michigan!

@@alexzacharie1765 Thank You!
Rip...Mr Gaddis
I got into fishing because of this guy. I'm 62 and still fishing. Go fishing and take a youngster.
That's great! Yes, we need to get the kids outside! Gadabout Gaddis is a legend that's for sure.
64 and same. I thought he had the dream job. Adventure travel fishing. Doesn't get any better
This guy was the original TV fisherman folks. Im old enough to remember.
Absolutely!
Thanks for uploading loved this show
You're welcome!
I heard a buddy who is about 20 yrs older talking about this show from the day, I found it instantly and LOVED IT FROM THE START! I forwarded it to him and he was headed home to watch it too✅ MUCH APPRECIATED !
How will this work vertical jigging ?
Hi, Tom. Yes, the 49er works great for vertical jigging. We have customers tell us they use it as a vertical jig ice fishing with great success!
I watched 7 episodes of these old films and I couldn't figure out what was different. Then it hit me. The only Brand names I saw in all 7 films was Mercury Outboard motors and Boston Whaler boats in this one. Could you see this guy trying to produce this show today without the name of Sponsors all over the frickin place? THere'd be the Rod and Reel, The name of the baits, the brand of gasoline the motor used , the fishing line, The Boat, The fishing motor, The truck he used to get there, the tackle box, the battery in the boat, the trailer it was on, The cooler they put the fish in, The Beer they drank, The insurance company on the boat and truck, By the time all the commercials played this 8:25 minutes with all the "When we come back we'll see" and "Before the break we saw" bullcrap is enough material for an hour show!
Yea, money pollutes everything.
This one is from 1965...Marion Massachusetts.
Awesome! Love Gaddis! Will be looking to get a Goldfish lure. Just got back from Montana, cought and released Cutthroat, Rainbow and Browns! Best trip of my life
Thank you
Wow, totally cool man! Read his book years ago, "The Flying Fisherman" and have been looking for him online with no with no luck. Highly recommend this book if you can find it. His life story!
Thanks for uploading these, my Dad and I used to watch all these episodes every Sunday, it brings back good memories of fishing with my Dad. Where did you find these episodes? Did you purchase them as a VHS or a DVD?
I found a VHS copy of his VHS video movie on Ebay and cut it up with my mac. I have not yet found the tv series. Please check out www.alsgoldfish.com (my business) for which Gad promoted so many years ago. We are working to rebuild this great American Made brand that one of the greatest ever loved to use.
looks good!
This brings me right back to my childhood, and why I love fishing so much.Jerry
Thank-you for uploading these!!
