Hello, fellow detectorist. I am Jeff and enjoy saving history throughout the Heartland. I use a Nokta Legend mainly in Omaha Nebraska dirt fishing parks, fields, and properties I am granted permissions to. Every new metal detecting outing is a treasure hunt for lost coins and relics that have been “Dropped and Forgotten”. So, join me in the excitement, as I uncover each find in weekly episodes.
Tootsie cars, Relics and Silver
This week Troy, Ty and I hunt a city just south of Omaha. It was Ty's day to pull some really cool stuff from the dirt. So don't miss this week's adventure as we save what was "Dropped and Forgotten".

It's hard to make a halfway decent episode, when some spots just don't produce enough footage to make a worth wild video. So, over the next several metal detecting outings I was able to combine a few locations into this next adventure.

Let me first say I am so sorry on the amount of wind noise this episode has. I have tried to edit it to minimize the disruption. So here we are surrounded by Iowa farm fields where a farmhouse once stood. Join me as I detect this old yard and see the cool items, I uncover using the #noktalegend

Join me as I attend my first seeded hunt event. I chose this one because it was also an area that has not been hunted for over 80 years and was hoping to find some old Boy Scout relics. This was a well-organized hunt with loads of prizes, good food and the best part...some really nice folks who share the same passion.

Join Ty and I as we metal detect throughout an old rural town. Crab Orchard was platted in 1883 when the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad was extended to that point. The town got its name from a grove of crabapple trees near the town site that once had a population of 278 but now is down to only 38.

@grandmakellymcdonald Yes, Grandma Kelly. Thanks for joining the adventure and commenting.
Isn't that drivers seat on the "wrong" side? 🤣
@@patreasurehunters Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your comment. Ty has quite the collection. I belive he restores them or knows someone who does.
Wow, that was a great assortment of finds. Congratulations on the Barber. That is a beautiful coin.
@@patreasurehunters Thank you. Ty will always find some good stuff with his Nox 800. Also your right those Barbers are a good looing coin just wish I could pull more lol. Thanks for watching
@@DroppedandForgotten I only have two in my collection of finds. 1894 and 1898-O. Still looking for my first Barber Quarter.
@@patreasurehunters me too.
This was a fun day. A lot of good small town older finds.
@TroyWilburn It's been an incredible year. Looking forward to the 2025 adventures we gain permission to.
I'd buy that 1962 wheat for $100
I am guessing looking at it with dirt made me say this. I am also not an expert in coins and will blurt out wrong stuff. I will also call a buffalo nickel a indian at times. One day I may make a blupper video. Thanks for watching and comment.
Nice hunt
@@joncarlson5561 I think our hunt days are few at this point in the year. Looking forward to see what we can uncover in 2025.
Cool finds 😊
Thank you
Nice bunch of clips. Wish that mason jar lid was attached to a jar full of Morgan silver dollars. Maybe next time. Fingers are crossed.
@patreasurehunters LOL, I know you are always looking for that jar, too. Yes, maybe one day. Thanks for stopping by the channel and commenting.
@@DroppedandForgotten I always promise to share the coins with the home owner if one is found.
Loved that you incorporated the drone footage. Great job Walter. 👍
Trying to add a little background to our spots, and the drone footage was on point. Hope to do more like this as opportunities arise.
Very cool finds awesome video
@mandybrown7758 Thank you, Mandy. I'm so glad you stopped by the channel and enjoyed the content. Thank you for your comment, too.
HI, new subscriber from the UK. Been enjoying your videos. Went out last week near to where I live and found 6 musket balls from the English civil war. Good luck guys.
@barneyrubble4536 Thanks for dropping in. Glad you have been enjoying the content and subscribed. England must be a joy to detect in. I plan on making a trip with one of these groups to experience some of the older history finds myself. Congrats on the musket ball finds.
Nice work 👍. I’ve been on a silver streak. 10 last 5 days. No gold for about a month. But I’ll take silver.
@joncarlson5561, you must have some good spots. Good on you! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Boom nice hunt. I found 5 silvers this week in Omaha great digging conditions
Yes, the rain has helped a lot. Great job on your silver pulls. Thank you for joining the adventure and commenting.
💥1875 SEATED 💥WOWZA
Thanks for watching Mandy. We dont come across these, in Nebraska but went you do it is very exciting.
Nice seated"! Old items there, Up here in Canada they are tough to find"! Best"!
Thanks, my main reason for the channel is to share these finds. Nebraska has some hidden treasures, and I hope Troy and I can uncover more of them as we find new spots each week. I bet Canada also has some cool items just waiting to be uncovered. Thanks for hanging out on this adventure.
Great video, nothing better then seeing silver in hole.
Thanks for the comment Krazyclown. It is a feeling of excitement every time.
My minelab never let's me dig aluminum. Having 2 nunerical scales is invaluable....
I found 69 dollar coins at an Omaha park this week. Unbelievable. Nice hunt.
@@joncarlson5561 that is quite the hual. Interesting to know the back story to this large cache. Thanks for watching and comment.
@ Very interesting no vending machine or reason for them to be at that park. Thinking maybe an Easter coin hunt. This hobby you just never can guess.
@@joncarlson5561 Yup, never know what the ground will give. Great find or should I say "finds".
Very cool hunt great finds, what kind of camera are you using?? God Bless and happy dirt fishin…Virgil
Virgil, I have the Insta360 Go 3. I use the hat clip on the bill. Sometimes I'll keep the Go 3 in the holder and shoot video like that, and occasionally I'll use my Samsung phone. I also use my phone for still shots. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
unfortunetely its plated, i found one of that same company, theyre very convincing though… still a great hunt !
Thank you for the comment Scott and thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed.
boom let's go let's go treasure and adventure ✌👵
Yes, I am ready. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Still some silver in Omaha nice hunts. Rain coming this weekend should help the digging I hope. 🤞
Jon, looking forward to some ground moisture. It will definitely help the detecting. I do believe there are lots of silver and other cool items to be saved throughout Omaha. We just have to get our coil over them. Thanks for watching.
Congratulations on the Walker! Great episode plenty of awesome finds.
@darbysdownhomedetecting Thank you. So glad you enjoyed this week's adventure. Thanks for watching.
Loved the Buffalo Nickel. I've only found one and that was about 2 years ago. Good find. 👍
@@TroyWilburn Thanks Troy, I seen the indian and said a Indian silly me. I don't find to many either, so it is exciting when I do.
Nice seated"! I always wanted to find one, but they are pretty scarce around here"! Good for you guys, and the best of luck in the future"!🍀🍀
Thanks for watching and commenting Cannonball. I'm sure one will eventually cross under your coil. Happy hunting!
@@DroppedandForgotten my season is over for the moment"! I Hope you find a cache of them, someday"! Happy huntin"!
i like your channel a lot and awesome hunt, congrats on the seated !!! but dang, think that was ur buddy but had to mute half the video cause the detector/pinpointer noise just constantly going off.
Scott, I'm so glad you are enjoying these adventures. Yes, Ray's machine was annoying. He was out of town and was having issues connecting his headset. Being new to editing, I need to think about these disruptive noises and try to prevent them when filming. I am very sorry for this. In the next few episodes, I am trying to edit out wind noise. Hopefully, I will improve along the way. Thanks again for watching.
again, sorry didnt want to sound like a jerk, i do like your channel ! good luck out there !
@scottfreeman2576 No, I did not take it negatively. It was good feedback. I always want to improve.
Congrats my friend nice little hunt God Bless and happy dirt fishin…Virgil
Virgil, thank you, and I appreciate your support.
Damn seated amazing 🤩. Good hunt
Thanks Jon
Bucket Lister makes for an excellent day!! 👍
I agree, we did not get much here but the Seated Dime made it worth it.
Nice bunch of finds. I found a palmolive token recently. It was round, yours looks like an octagon.
@@patreasurehunters Hey Pat thanks for watching. Yes it was octagon.
Do you do any live digs from start to finish ???
@RickyD1968 Thanks for the question. Sometimes I do a live dig if the tone is good. Not sure how many of them made it into an episode. They tend to eat up time. Do you think more folks would enjoy this more?
Great video I definitely want to go next year. Thanks for the video
They're going to a new location. Same deal, Boy Scout camp, but in Wisconsin. I would go again; it was very well organized. You can follow the Illinois Metal Detecting Association on Facebook to get up-to-date info. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice Hunt Jeff. We need some rain. Getting hard to dig in Omaha
Thanks, Jon. Yes, plugs aren't pretty. I've been selective about the yards I choose. So far been doing a good job getting it all back togeather. Fields should open up soon.
Good hunt!
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
Nice hunt 👍
Thanks Jon.
That was a pretty good unexpected location we happened upon. A local resident providing some good insights. 👍
It was, just some small talk with a local had.me turning my.detector on when I was about to leave.
Nice hunt"! love that ihp"! good stuff"! interesting finds"! Best of luck"!
CB49 Thanks for watching, IHP are my favorite coins to find so far, I just love the looks of them.
Nice to see old history items with towns names or cities in the area. Very nice IHP as well. 👍
Thanks Troy, lots of history to uncover. Such a exciting hobby.
There is a lot of history in the area pony express, stagecoach, Oregon trail, etc..
Yes, very much. Hoping we can save some more of it.
Nice hunt. I found 2 IHPs and a merc this week. Omaha parks.
Jon, What detector are you using? Those buggers must have been deep. Nice job.
@@DroppedandForgotten I have a Dues 2. About 5-6 inches not terribly deep just got lucky and found a small piece of a new park that was a dump area.
Congrats on the silver I had same thing happen to me wife gave permission then dug one hole and she came back out and said husband didn’t want digging in yard I said no worries and moved on that’s all we can do God Bless and happy dirt fishin…Virgil
Thanks for watching Virgil. Lots of other spots out there.
awesome hunt ! im achin for a silver coin
It will happen; cherish the moment. Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed.
Silver that’s a good day.
I was wondering if my Nokta was broken. I'm glad she can still sniff the silver out of the dirt.
@@DroppedandForgotten 😂
Nice video Jeff.
Thanks Jon, its been a rough summer.
@@DroppedandForgotten agreed been pretty slow for me as well. Silvers are getting harder and harder to find in Omaha. Found 3 this summer. Rings have been good to me. 3 golds and 10 silver.
@@joncarlson5561wow, I dont find many rings. Are you hunting the beaches? There is a guy in our club who does beaches and finds tons of jewelry.
@@DroppedandForgotten no beaches just parks. I have been to the Fremont lakes a few times but never had any luck on the beaches.
