Very good video. A wonderful memorial to marion
The lady next to Marion in the clip from the graduate, was also on bewitched..
Amazing local history, thank you West Pittston Historical Society and all involved in bringing this to those of us who couldn't attend the event. Rich Jenkins is a treasure trove of knowledge about his family and the early history of our valley, so glad he spoke at the event. Well done!
Thank you and we also agree with you about Rich and his knowledge of our local Revolutionary past.
Great presentation! Thank you for producing this.

I couldn't make it there for this presentation, but it sure brought back some memories! I'm glad it was posted here to UA-cam. My father and sister attended and loved the old pictures. I have some things from Goodwill Hose Co. that you might be interested in, and some pictures. I was a member there from the late 80s until it closed. As a matter of fact, my parents met each other at one of Goodwill's picnics..lol. I was wondering, is there someplace where you house or display things from the Historical Society? It would be nice to have a place in town where people could come and see the history of the town. Thanks for sharing your presentation!
We have a wonderful storage location in town away from the flood zone but we are hoping to someday have a location to display our fantastic collection of historical items. Until then, we bring items out for programs and share photos on our Facebook page and website. You should check out both of these links for more interesting photos. westpittstonhistory.org facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064837622308
@@westpittstonhistoricalsoci9867 I am familiar with the Facebook page, thank you! I am glad to know that you have a safe place to store items, and I hope that someday there will be a building where people could see everything on display. It would really be an asset to the borough. I will go through some of the things I have and get in touch with you to see if you're interested in them. Thanks again for sharing the program here!
I wish I had been able to make it down there for this. I have photos of the Nova-Plast fire. I also have the T-Shirt from the "Great Roundhouse Rubber Roast of 1991" at Coxton yards. My sister Leigh and I were both members of Goodwill Hose Co.
If you’d like to share any of those photos you can send them to us at westpittstonhistory@gmail.com We’d love to add them to our photo file.
@@westpittstonhistoricalsoci9867 My scanner is down but I'd be happy to meet you at the library one day soon and loan you the pages from the photo album. Also would like to put the shirt in a frame and donate that also when time permits.
@@Fez4ever sounds good. You can contact me at that address or message us on Facebook to set something up. Thank you.
@@westpittstonhistoricalsoci9867 Very good....I just shared the video on facebook. I'll send a message tomorr....er....later today Lol. Thanks!
Loved this presentation, but the second speaker was very hard to hear in this video. I hope that this will become a yearly event, to continue to tell the story of our first residents and their sacrifice for our country.
Thanks for sharing this. I am often amazed at how many people do not know the history of the Battle of Wyoming, and the early colonial history of our area. This battle was directly responsible for the decision of General Washington to send a force under General Sullivan into the heart of the Iroquois territory (New York) to put and end to further raids south, and to break the alliance between the Iroquois and Great Britain. It was an important part of the United States winning the revolution and independence.
I am related to the Hitchner family in south Jersey!
loved it, so cool with the newspapers mixed in
Thank you! We were so fortunate to have acquired this one of a kind photo album.
WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!! If you have the photos in your collection I'd love to come see them with magnifying glass this summer to get some additional details for my historical research. Keep up the good work folks!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Thank you John. We do have the entire album in our collection and the photos in the presentation are only a portion of what we have. The bridge contractor took photos nearly every day of the project.
Excellent presentation. Only change I would make is to add still close ups of the various photos he showed. Looking forward to more on this channel ....Good luck all!!!!
Thank you. We are pretty new at this but your suggestion is great.
