The Tower of Lasqueti Island
In late September, I was fortunate enough to visit one of my dearest friends, Ingo Dyrkton, on the remote, off-grid island of Lasqueti. Ingo has been perfecting his wood carving skills with century old adze, and has been living off-grid for decades, all the while. He was kind enough to guide this sweet tour of his abode called 'The Tower'.
Every structure on Lasqueti is built remotely. The wood was locally fallen and milled on Lasqueti. Additional materials are often imported to the island on a barge. Every system is thought out to be efficient and custom to the unique needs and imagination of the owner. There are no building permits, and so every building is permeated with rustic uniqueness, and 'The Tower' is of no exception.
When ever I step foot on Lasqueti, I instantly feel a deep peace. There is a bodily relief to be so remote, so away from the noise, the busy-ness, the worries of others. Life becomes more immediate and simple. Lasqueti has always felt like a little piece of home, and it wouldn't be possible without such generous and loving friends that inhabit it, like the legendary Ingo, himself.

Now that's a home!❤
He seems like such a nice man😃loved the masonary stove the best
I've been to this island! Boated into a quiet cove. Hopped out of boat and immediately cut open my feet from all the oyster shells rofl. Tented one night, no sleep as the mosquitoes were so bad, I've never seen them worse than there. Never returned rofl. Pretty island but oh my goodness for mosquitoes!!
You mean to tell me they dont have power on the island yet?? Was there way back in 1978. Mostly everybody was using diesel generators at that time.
So this is your hideout Ingo, I love it, even your box full of crayons bathroom, all the way up to the tower some 78 ‘ up in the sky 🩷 ! It’s fabulous, thanks for the invite into bliss 🩷 !😊
Love Lasqueti!
Shhhhh!! Keep the secret!! Haven't you SEEN the rest of the island, and coast??
Nice. I made a five story Stack Shack. The building inspectors would shut you down before you start. Got to be ticky tacky suburban sprawl moronic to be approved. That, and everything controlled by the Corporate powers that be to maximize their profits.
I follow Ingo on Instagram!
This hippy is livin' the dream! Bless up!
I can't believe you climbed the ladder. I wouldn't have. lol Great video & house.
OMG! 💙There ☝🏽You Are!! Our wonderful, loving, inspiring, generous, embracing, patient, giving, gorgeous Musician, Cook, Brother! Knowing you is A True Love Experience 💙

Jerome...your husky story is one I can remember almost word for word. I never forget it. We all know your mom was more than special. Love the video cugino.
Jerome I remember your lovely mother, my Zia, with fondness. She always welcomed me, literally, with open arms and joy. Her food was always so delicious.❤🌺
Very charming :)
