Omar Ibn Saad Encamps Opposite Imam Hussain By the third day of Muharram, Imam Hussain, his family, and companions had settled in the tents. The children were under the protection of their guardians. But on this day, the first battalion of Yazid under the leadership of Omar Ibn Saad began reaching Karbala.

On Thursday, the 2nd of Muharram 61 A.H. Imam Hussain(a.s.) camped at a place in the region of Naynava called Karbala. Upon Arriving, Imam(a.s.) said: "Grief and trial dwells herein, hence alight down, and this is our halting place. Here will our blood be shed and here shall we be burried. My Gradfather, the Prophet of Allah(s.a.w.s.) has foretold me regarding it."
