Adventures on Vancouver Island and the Pacific Ocean
In this video I travel with my life long friend sheldon from Kamloops B.C. to Vancouver island. Having never been on the ocean this video series was filmed to bring perspective to the viewer from the point of view of an outsider. Hopefully this make somebody somewhere wants to plan a trip like this of their own through the highlights of our adventure. Along for the trim aswell is our friend Jim, a local to the area, takeing place on his boat Sea Me Out.

The tikka shooters of the world have probably been wanting this for a while. A magazine that fits the form factor for hunting with a chassis. No big bulky magazines hanging out of your rifle. Nobody makes one that fits ! That’s ok. In this video it’s my take on how to take some existing products on the market and change them ever so slightly to fit the mag well of your every day hunting rifle. ...

Yeah that was a good pook brings a smile to my face
The main reason I sold my HNT26 and won't buy another MDT stock for hunting until they make a polymer Tikka mag. Nice to know there is an option. Cheers.
@@montaego I feel your pain man. Hence the video on it. If you don’t mind me asking what did you switch too ?
Wow So much fish
Inconnu are the tarpon of the north.
Great job guys ! Thanks for sharing
Good one. Nice walkthrough showing your hunting mind in action. Huge buck shed- never know, always hopeful
Do you recall what distance your shot was at?
@@mikeevans1594 not super far but far enough. 290m ish but on quite a good angle which makes things a bit tricky just laying behind the rifle.
Can you make it with more round capacity?
@@andrikmagana5381 I don’t think there would be enough room in the magazine body to fit another cartridge with the fallower and spring in the equation
So maybe just get the KRG Echo that uses factory Tikka mags? Is there an advantage to the MDT vs the new KRG Echo. I’m in the market for a lightweight chassis for my Tikka T3 Superlite. Either way glad I found your video.
@@ckkone man the only reason I got a feild stock was because of availability. I’m from Canada and we only have a couple of retailers that carry the KRG products. I like krg stuff a lot but it’s really hard to find up here. MDT is local to me, their home base is only a couple of hours away. They are a great company to deal with overall and I like to support local business. Like I said in the video the only reason I got a feild stock was the capability to run those 3 round mags or so I thought, and price. 300can shipped to my house is really really hard to pass up. The echo uses factory tikka magazines and that’s honestly the way to go. Plus that barrel channel insert would really help the fit and finish if you’re not running a heavy contour barrel. One thing I will say is that the feild stock is a very comfortable stock to get behind. The grip is what makes it. It’s not a full 90 like the echo which I personally prefer. All thing said though as far as accuracy gains go they would be exactly the same. It’s just personal preference at that point.
Good idea. Send this video to MDT and shame them into making a proper mag.
@@elendal I left a product request on their website, that’s what their support people on the phone said to do. If they get enough interest they said it could be on the table to be a new product. So I guess we will see !
Let’s hope MDT makes a proper 3 round tikka mag. I made exactly the same mistake you did when ordering my field stock.
@@00skeletor00 frustrating right ! Well order up a couple 3 round CIP magazines and try your hand at making one. It really wasn’t that hard. I used a dremel, a hacksaw and sand paper. Plus the calipers and a ruler with a craft knife to score my marks. Not rocket science I used it today for the first time and I had no problems with it so far ! The CIP being so much longer gives you some wiggle room to work with
What does your tikka weigh with that mdt stock installed?
Before hand the thing weighed 7lbs 8oz. With a VX 5HD 3-15x44mm. It was a stainless steel hunter model in a walnut stock. The stock warped on me so I needed something else and this fit the bill mostly because of cost. Give me a bit and I’ll get a new weight for you.
According to my Electronic scale with the 3 round mag in the thing it weighs 8lbs 15oz -9lb 1oz. I weighed it 5 times and it said 8-15 twice 9lbs twice and 9-1oz once. So basically 9 lbs

Good video , thank you
Nice work, pretty handy way to do it and a lot cheaper. Think I’ll go this route on my one rifle. What scope did you say you have on your 260? I googled what you said but nothing really came up.
@@loopsoutdoors it’s a VX-3HD 3.5-10x40
Hey man also for some real work feed back on this after using it for a couple of months. If you put this on your rifle make sure you leave a small space for the tape to overlay the paper on each side. It will help with water. The top edge of mine was pretty close so when it got soaked a few days in a row I have some water make the pen marks bleed a bit. Just an FYI
@@wildelement9036noted, will do. Keep up the good work out there. Videos are great.

I watch this video every fall to fire myself up! Love it man, amazing job.
What an incredible series of events! You guys made some amazing footage and memories of a lifetime! I bet that grizz gave you all an adrenaline rush on your way out of there. Did you pack an In-Reach SOS device?
@@FISHWILD that’s for watching, it was a amazing trip one we won’t forget. That was the last hunt we will do without a inreach. We have had one with us all season this year. Hope you’re having a great season!
It's unfortunate your good camera was out of commission. I know what that is like - I was without my good camera in all of 2023 and into 2024. All I had was my iphone. Regardless you put together a great video series. Awesome moonscape terrain and amazing moose and deer encounters!
@@FISHWILD thanks for watching the videos, it was unfortunate that the cameras were away getting repaired for the early season but all you can do is make do with you have. I’m glad you enjoyed the videos!

@@B.C.EpicExplorer thank you for watching the videos! We absolutely cherish these times, some of the best memories have been made in the mountains. Hope you’re have a great season and thanks for the feedback
Amazing hunt. I loved the series. I had a similar experience in the Princeton area at the end of September this year. Just as I was losing hope on the last day I was suddenly standing less than a hundred yards from a huge 4 pointer. I completely understand the feeling. Good job boys.
@@skullfalker that’s awesome man ! I hope you got him ! But ya I feel you on that one. It’s a roller coaster, we were so blown away but the outcome of that. Hence the reaction from all of us because we thought our odds or relocating him were slim to none. We thought we would be sleeping on the ground that night around a fire as we were a long ways from the tents, only to get him at point blank. The emotions when you work hard for something like that are crazy. That’s why we love it so much. I think I was more excited for my brother than he was.
@@wildelement9036 It's amazing man. I could feel the emotion through the computer. It's why I keep going out there suffering every year. And I did get him, he's currently in the freezer. Now I'm gearing up for a whitetail hunt in Alberta with my brother. My wifes family owns a bunch of property out there so it's going to be awesome.
🦌👏🏻
Why only one rifle in the mountains in grizz country?
@@Lvbackroads definitely a mistake on our part. We were all tired and left two at the bottom. 99% of the time you never need it luckily that time we didn’t either. Let’s just say this year nobody went anywhere without one

@@NelsonRivero-k5p no worries !
You think that bear came in after hearing the rifle shot? I'm sure the wind was going from you to the bear and he smelled you for awhile. Thankfully, he bailed. Great video boys!
@@chrisbennett5961 you know we had talked about that a lot and to be honest we have no idea. Possibly he was just headed our way but more than likely he knew what he was after. Wind was going downhill from us as the thermals changed in the evening so idk about him smelling the kill sight. He came straight over the top of the ridge and dropped down at us. We have seen a few bears walk ridge lines over the years so maybe it was just bad timing ?Interesting to think about but I guess we will never know.
@@wildelement9036 Seemed similar to that shit you hear em talking about on afognak but either way. Glad yall made it out safe. Had some scetch black bear encounters but that theres a fucking different animal there. What a freaking hunt guys!
If figured hosier Canadian because of the swearing, and knew for sure when they said the buck was huge!

Way to go guys, what an accomplishment. You can talk about this one for years to come.
Thank you man, by far our favourite hunt of all time
haha never thought id see a video and know exactly where it is. great buck. i got my biggest deer to date not far from this. Its a grind to get up there. Took horses last time and it was a shit show haha. Also the biggest black bears ive ever seen have all been up there.
hah now that i think of it, i would have been up there sept 16 of the same year. I'm not lying when i say im pretty sure we saw your deer remains with a coyote on them. Wild haha
@@mckenzieepp5758 no kidding hey! That’s pretty cool. Hunted it for a few seasons and took two deer off that hill. Never found a big one but saw some ok bucks. Depending on what side you attack it from the downhill is gnarly on the joints. I wish I hard horses hahaha it would make the walk a lot easier
@@mckenzieepp5758 Also 100% about the bears. The first time I ever went up there was like 2018 I think and scouting / hunting I saw more bears than deer that year. One morning I counted 13 in the open all at the same time. Stupid things and two of them were big boys
@@wildelement9036 theres couple grizz up near there too. got a pic of a sow and two cubs.
@@mckenzieepp5758 I thought I saw one that year aswell but I wasn’t sure they were even suppose to be there. Told some buddies and showed some photos everyone was 50/50 guess that confirms that idea. Those things are everywhere now
