Michigan Deer Camp 2024, hunting public land, self filmed

Deer Camp is one of my favorite times of the year. Friends and family gather up at camp. Each year, we gather at deer camp in mid-Michigan to hunt public land. We reminisce about the "old days", have "story time", eat too much junk food, get out into the woods too late because we were behind schedule, but most importantly- we make memories. Deer Camp isn't just about hunting, it's about the com...

    6 to 7 hours on a charge, with battery life left seems like all you could ask for. I used rechargeable hand warmers for the first time this year and they were great to have on hand. No pun intended.

  • @JnJTrueOutdoorAdventures

    Awesome review, Jeremy!! I have been looking at those, but mainly for helping to keep GoPro batteries warm. During our rifle season, my fully charged GoPro died within just a minute due to the extreme cold. My backup GoPro when I pulled it out died within seconds. I like the idea of putting it in the hand muff, but Jerod and I both have heated hand muffs, and they are great. I may check out the Ocoopa UT4 to use for keeping the GoPro batteries alive or of course to keep my hands warm. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks, i have had the same problem with GoPro's...HAD. I haven't had the problem with my DJI Osmo Action 4 though. I have the New View Heated muff, but i like the Ocoopa too. Hopefully the hand warmer will work on your batteries. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    The problem with lots of Amazon binos is that their magnification is usually less than advertised. However, after buying a few pairs of cheapo binos and some mid-range Vortex Diamondbacks recently, I'm convinced that the cheapo pairs are about 90% of what a higher quality set might be. After comparing my cheapo 15x sets to my Vortex 10x, I used a silver sharpie to mark the cheapos as being 8x and 8.5x

    • @j.r.outdoors247
      @j.r.outdoors247 11 днів тому

      I agree, they are never as "magnified" as they claim. I have found a new pair of budget binos that i feel are better than any other pair that i have tested. They are the WOSPORTS binos. I did a review video on them. ua-cam.com/video/Vpmc0DV0Tf8/v-deo.htmlsi=JrEKFaU9kRP3W6if

      Sometimes, but not always. When we process our deer (we usually do it ourselves), We usually just get a 5lb log of 70%/30% beef and mix it in with the whole deer. However sometimes i end up grinding up a roast into burger and i won't mix anything with it. When making these stick, i don't think you could tell a difference though. Thanks for watching.

    Michigan needs to get away from letting everyone use crossbows. Unless you have a permanent disability that would hinder your ability to draw a bow. Just like it used to be.

    • @j.r.outdoors247
      @j.r.outdoors247 26 днів тому

      You are right, we should go back to the way it used to be. Only a stick and string, wood arrows, no sights, turkey feather vanes, stone broadheads. No compound bows, no carbon fiber arrows, no treestands, no trail cameras, no cell phones... you know "like it used to be". So i hope you don't use a compound bow, because that's not how it "used to be". Sorry, i disagree with you (and you have the right to have your opinion). My goal was to make as ethical shot as possible. I shoot my bow all the time (check out my other content). But i was sick for the previous couple weeks and had some back issues, so i decided i would take the crossbow out instead of my compound. For the last several hunts, i have been ground hunting with my compound.

      @ it should go back to not shooting does. People like you just want to kill or kill for content and not understand just because you can get tags doesn’t mean you need to kill every doe you see. Hunting in Michigan is going right down the fucking shit hole because of people like you and trophy hunters. They know guys like you will bite at the bait set. 3 areas on state land I used to hunt got whiped out. By guys like you. Last year I was getting 30 pics a day this year I’ve seen 7 does all season and believe me I know how to find deer. 6 guys just like you last year killed 28 does. And 3 button bucks on public ground. So other people can’t shoot a doe knowing it would be tragic for the deer population. Trophy hunters have private land they want guys to shoot all the does around so the bucks flock to their food plots and live on their property because they don’t kill does. They shouldn’t allow donated deer either. If someone needs food bad enough they can go shoot a deer themselves. Well maybe not anymore it’s kind of hard to do. Hunters are supposed to be conservationists not stupid fucks. Your hunting for today not for the next generation. Other people utilize that land and want to enjoy a deer harvest as well. It’s the same demographic of people doing the same thing in the area I hunt. My uncle just sold off 60 acres of our family land because the neighbors whiped the deer heard out because the government told them it’s okay to kill all these does. It means they will see bigger bucks. Or see more bucks. The reason why we’re seeing more bucks isn’t because there is more it’s because we have no does

    One thing I quickly realized with Temu, Shein, AliExpress and AliBaba is that the products that are worth it, usually, are products that tend to just be manual, straightforward stuff that doesnt involve a lot of moving parts, that you either make from a steel mold, or plastic injection, etc etc.. that kinda stuff, if that makes sense. A $20 tactical backpack that obviously will never rival a $120 bag in terms of longevity, but for $20 that i can spare right now, it works. Stuff that doesn't involve much electronic manufacturing built into it either. That's not to say you won't find simple electronic stuff on there, though, like flashlights, laser pointers, rechargeable bicycle lights, camping lanterns, bug zappers, bs household stuff. Also knives, swords, machetes. Will I buy a machete or sword that isnt a full tang construction, no, but i would buy, and did buy a switchblade for $6 bucks, along with a shoulder stock sling shot that has a laser and a scope with room on the rail to add a red dot or whatever.. and it works well, very well, for what i paid compared to the name brand ones that run for upwards of $250, I paid $36. I got a few machetes and anime and middle ages type weaponry, along with some newer replica military equipment for wall pieces to hang up in the man-cave/gaming room just to look at. You can definitely find some cool stuff on there for cheap if you scroll long enough, and always, always, always read the product description and reviews at the bottom of the review list to make sure you are getting what the pictures show. I have made the mistake of buying something after scrolling through the pictures, and it showed up and was made out of plastic when the picture showed it metal. Something that should definitely not be plastic.

      Yes, everything is definitely buyer beware. However, its just like Amazon. Temu is just a distributor based in China instead of having warehouses here all over the U.S.. I've had a lot of great deal and also had a few flops. Most of the time, i felt like the items would be flops, but was just crossing my figures that i would be really surprised. @TheMichiganShow I have the Gen 1s. I filled the tube with foam, wrapped them with tape and they can still be a bit noisey if you aren't super careful. And they can be hard to stack in the dark.

    How did you get the loop either end of the strap? I see how you started it, but you had the very small loop at the beginning.

    • @j.r.outdoors247

      I made the loop the length needed for the entire sling. The small loop that you saw was just an example because i lost the original footage of me making the longer sling.
