Great info. It really is crazy how much each card cost if you are monetizing the game. I’m no whale, but I do monetize ftp games I play frequently i.e. Warframe. But lord have mercy, those prices are crazy.

This is why I don't see video game addiction as a bad thing, atleast in some cases. If you are good at games or are able to become good, like you were, then it can become something productive. You managed to monetize the thing that you were addicted to. I see this as a win. It's like if Simone Biles were to say she is addicted to gymnastics.

I was you. Those albums aren't easy to collect, well cheap. I meant cheap. Some of those are 12 variants at 1200 gold each, so they are still hundreds of dollars. It's really good tip to just keep this stuff in mind, but there's a few other things at play here. Planning and scheduling is the name of the game all the way around. There are a few different ways to try and get to either getting a card you want; either from getting it through an album reward, spotlight key, or purchasing it from tokens (These methods you know which card you are going to get (spotlight key is a kind of chance but it gains certainty that you will get the card you want if a key misses). ANYWAY, I looked at all this stuff, heard the others and made my choice to be to keep these reward systems in mind and how to get there, but overall I choose to invest most of my resources in raising my collection level. The collection caches, and the spotlight keys you get from raising your collection level, and the rotating series cards in store that you can pin give me the majority of the cards i need. I am looking to get the Baby Album just to get Kang. He is the only card I haven't seen in months of play. Therefore I want it. I'm sure it will get a nerf and get the Loki treatment, but instead people will want to use Kang now, and then I won't want to play the card that everyone plays. That's another thing too man. Forget how to get these cards without spending $300 for. Be aware that if you do whale on a card it could get patched and the card may not be worth that much to you anymore. XD No matter what planning and patience is the way. The only way to speed up your collection level is to become a whale. wasting 4 keys, although cheap for tokens, is a waste, as you would want to get the spotlight one and only that one, unless missing any of the others.

I ran into one video game like this. After I blew $400 on it, I realized I had to stop because the game was just a grind and not fun. Found most mobile games like this, and I didn’t want to commit to getting anywhere near where someone like you got to. I wanted more out of life than pixels.

Next video about your TV watching addiction? Book reading addiction? Dating can be an addiction. Spending your time and money on someone that you may not even know a month later, week later, days later. Sex addiction? Then you repeat and do it again. You making money from streaming games but feeling icky about spending money(while making money) doesn't make it an addiction in my eyes. The same way if you made music and spend money on it while making money from it. Now if you are making music, spending money on it while making no money? Still not an addiction, it becomes a hobby. Of course it can be argued "I get real life stuff to keep from it at the end of the day". Sure, there will be differences. Just like if you went back to streaming Marvel Snap, all your stuff would be there and able to interact with your viewers over it. Not defending games or projecting. Everything in life is an addiction depending how you view it. One could say going to a 9-5 job is addicting, because end of the day you are trading your time for money. Money you use to live. Did streaming take away more of your time than a 9-5 job that you might of advanced in? If you advanced, you MIGHT see less of your family? The same is true if you are streaming and making money to live. We all trade one addiction for another addiction. Life is about the life goals you create and follow them. 100% facts if you are playing games like it's a job and no one is watching, that is an addiction. Much like someone who binge watches movies and shows, while claiming it's "my down time". Addiction is not always the most easy way to define. Much like drugs, games or any other visual stimulation is a form of digital heroin. 100% most online games are Toxic and that can rub off/in someone. So can a job. "Don't take your work home with you", is a common phrase. We all trade 1 addiction for another addiction. Grats on you kicking your real addiction alcohol. But you are trading Game addiction with Music addiction. I hope she treats you better and you can make money from it and even spend less time doing it than you were playing games.

It's sad to see what big corporations have done to gaming and to see you get affected by it. It's even sadder that you couldn't find any good games because that tells me you're constantly getting curated games that fit everything else you played. I feel like you should relabel this to focus on "competitive video games" because they are designed to trap you in and spend your time and money. I know... I was stuck playing league for years and I never had fun... Until I quit. Then I played single player games and it reignited my enjoyment for them. Sure playing games for hours without having your other priorities in check is a bad thing. But the games you played are designed to keep you in. You mentioned Marvel Snap and Warzone. They are competitive games with pointless progression systems and roadblocks designed to keep you playing and pay money. There's no doubt about it. If you ever get back to gaming with a healthier mindset, try out games like Outer Wilds: a game about space exploration and piecing together mysteries. No competitiveness. No microtransactions. No one else but you enjoying the art that some people created. I'm only "addicted" to figuring out the story. Nothing more. I spend some time exploring, piecing together some threads in the story. The great thing is that I can put it down and step away and get on with my life knowing that it'll be there when I want to come back. Competitive games always make you feel left out. They are designed to make you feel like you're not making any progress if you're not playing every day. That's a huge reason why they are addictive and I'm glad you got out of that rat race but please don't discount all games. There are beautiful works of art out there that make you think and feel in ways books or movies only wish they can do and I only wish more people can experience them.

I had a big issue with League of Legends, and i think part of maturing as a gamer is realizing that multi-player gaming is a net negative on your life. Even harder for yourself to come to terms with because you're actually an incredible player. My big step away was finding slower hobbies. I fell into board games and miniature painting, I picked up books again, and I'll occasionally sit down and play a single player RPG for an hour or two a day for a month. I'm a family man myself, and every day i have to consider my time economy. Multi-player games just dont fit in that schedule anymore.

The sunken cost fallacy is huge with Marvel Snap. We all spent hundreds of dollars in the game and keep playing to sponge the loss of the money invested will lead nowhere. As you say it's meaningless.

Spending 2K on a mobile game is absolutely crazy. I hope you get help with your addiction. Marvel snap is fun. Play wise. Don’t spend too much much. That’s a little more than the average monthly salary in the UK.

I just started 3 months ago and absolutely loving it, forcing myself to take it slow, enjoy the progression unlocks and don’t fomo into spending to much for bundles or currency and don’t worry about the meta

seaons are getting worse and longer, at high CL your grind starts almost immediately at 80's, this used to be the case for late 90s like in 99 ladder at launch, just play the dailies and move on. seems the game forces you to keep playing while the top streamers are given easy wins in the first 73 hours of reset with their userid's being programmed into easy bot matches so they can keep pumping snap to their user base. there is no way that alex and bynx get to infinite now in like two days when they couldn't do it before in 4 week seasons, rigged games for streamers.

Im used to stop but plays it again but instead of raging when I lose I treat it as fun times but sometimes into that raging trap 😂😂😂. I have to stop watching snap stream..
