I very much like this channel, and Chris' channel too. But what Chris says at 4:46 : that the tone 40 is an exercise of occult Wil, is not true. Now, Hubbard was involved, but never quite understood all the basics in the field of occultism (as demonstrated in his Blood Ritual), so one could say 'maybe it's Hubbard's understanding of the relation between Will and intention'. That understanding would be very flawed and ultimately incorrect, though. On the other hand, Hubbard was exposed to people who worked properly in the occult field. He saw it. He was there. So a confusion between intention and real Will is very hard to accept. Probably real Will doesn't play a bigger role in Scientology. Intention does. I think both Chris and Jon Atack mostly fail in making connections between scientology and occult practices. It's ok thought, as neither are occultists. Personally I believe most of Hubbard methods are just variations of hypnotism, linguistics and magnetism inside a neo gnostic context. He was eclectic enough not to base his whole system on the branch of occultism he was exposed to. Now, in his private life the thing leaned more towards the occult. Way more.

Just discovered your channel not too long ago. I’m also one of Chris’s subscribers. You definitely earned a sub from me. Great to see people interested in one of the most bizarre subjects while exposing its bullshit. I’ve only read Original Thesis and half of both the 80’s and the more modern DMSMH prints (They do have some differences in context.). I also found Hubbard’s Slaves Of Sleep to be his most enjoyable work.

Funny how for what's supposed to be the introductory "beginner" course necessery to actually begin progressing, you already have to listen to multiple hours of tapes, read through 100+ pages, and stop at every single word that might be of even slight question to word-clear everything, not just the essentials. It's almost like you already have to have above average reading prowess and endurance, informational filtering, memory and scrupulous attention, just to "study how to study", which somewhat defeats its own purpose. From the first 5 minutes of seeing what this is about, I got the feeling that it's more like an entry barrier to weed out the less dedicated rather than a course. Except by the time you are given it, you are already under the pressure not to "blow", so you don't really have a choice but to keep chipping away at it even if it costs you your sanity (And the cycle repeats itself with further courses)

Scientologeek, it’s amazing how you digitized the vols. I’d love to do stuff like that and make parody sci-fi on scn if I could get paid for it. My point is supporting my family and doing a good creative thing that is meaningful.

Good job Holly and Chris. I promised to send you my years of graphs of AOLAs income. That’s one of the several organizations under Chris’s management but the major money making org during the years I was there 77-96. Chris arrived in 96 so his history is after mine. However my external drive crashed June 2023 and I’ve not had access to my photos saved from 1950-2023. So I will have to photo the hard copy again which is 30-40 feet of graphs taped together. Working on it. This one system - the stat system is common amongst all staff. The public students also keep stats but with less control then is used over the public.

The Brookings Institute! 1985?! That's an interesting one. Not Scientology, but a conservative Republicanesque sort of a conference that meets out in Brookings, Oregon. In that era it attracted conservatives who leaned out of trad Republicanism over into Libertarian Lite. I think your Computer Ethics Institute is going to trace back to a guy by the name of Jeffrey Franklin Osanka. He was in the Eugene, OR area in the 1990s. And good job, both of you.
