Founded in 1984 as the world's first centre for research on public theology, the Centre for Theology and Public Issues (CTPI), based in the School of Divinity, University of Edinburgh, brings together theologians, colleagues from other academic disciplines, faith leaders, policymakers and the public to consider current and future issues that affect society.


The Centre extends this dialogue through research and disseminates its findings through seminars, public events and publications. Recent and current topics of interest include peacebuilding, Christianity and the “culture wars”, national identity, money and finance, animals and ecology, and the changing place of religion in the public square.
