Halls Of Torment
Oh I played Nordic Ashes on 1.0 release. I wonder why I stopped playing, it was my favorite bullet heaven when I played it
It's a great game, I agree, I love it.
is there a good co-op version? I tried the vampires survivor co-op it sucked. I enjoyed the LOL version of this type of game, swarm. It was a lot of fun single and co-op.
That's a good question, I think it might just be Vampire survivors that has Coop. I don't remember seeing any options for the other games.
Magic survival is the original, vamp's dev explicitly said it was his main inspiration and it's basically a copy, shame everyone is just riding the wave
That's interesting, I didn't realize that. I would've put it in there if I'd known.
Who's picking up any new survivors game? Let me know below.
Isn’t that Daemonhunters on the thumbnail?
haha no, I believe it's the guy from vampire survivors. Or it's supposed to be anyways.
I've been playing Xcom 2 WotC - Long War of the Chosen Mod. I have about 3-4 squads running missions. I also have an additional squad that takes care of the covert ops missions and act as a backup just incase my main squad members get injured, then I have the resistance Haven soldiers as Advisors. This mod really does add in a ton of mechanics from the long war mod. I think I've ran over 80 missions already. I'm also trying to level up my leaders for the squads as well.
Nice, that's a good tip, I've only ever played the vanilla Xcom2 and official expansions, but maybe it's time I try some mods.
How come u didnt add Phoenix Point. Its almost same as XCom
Haha I didn't know the game when I put together this video. But I've re-educated myself and if I make a version 2 it'll be in there.
I just found discovered you're channel and like what you're doing. I'm a pro wrestler and would love to reach out to you for some fitness tips if you have the time
Sure, no problem, you can email me at : nerdcavepeter@gmail.com. I'm not sure how much help I can be tho, I don't know anything about wrestling.
I can't adequately express how sick I am of "post-apocalyptic" games. Enough with these ugly, depressing worlds.
haha there are definitely a lot of those. Sounds like Mario + Rabbids Kingdom battle is the perfect game for you.
Great content
Thank you, much appreciated.
Its interesting, how many dont know about Troubleshooter. One of the best tactics turnbased games out there.
I have actually heard about it, but looking at the store page it didn't look that interesting to me. But I might have to reconsider that.
@@PetersNerdCave The simple anime style turned me off, when i saw it. But its very good. I played it over 160h. I could go back and i am sure they added some new missions. The video from Mortismal Gaming actually got me to play it.
My main is a mage and have had zero issues. I started a rogue and love the combat for them. My ice mage destroys!
Nice, I'll have to try that too. So far I'm loving the game.. even with the warrior.
My friend, may i bring to your attention Phoenix Point? Take a look, i think that takes the cake for XCOM-likes
haha it has been brought to my attention a few times since this video and I agree. It's a great game. If I make a 2nd edition of this video it'll be in there for sure.
Yes, Phoenix Point, created by one of the creators of the original X-Com, is excellent. I've only played the demo, but even that has a lot of replay value. Also has the adjustable direction and distance Overwatch. It also allows you to target specific body parts (you can disable an enemies arm making it so they can't use the weapon. Also the targeting system uses an area of two circles, centre gets a certain percentage of shots while the outer gets the remaining bullets. This allows for misses that still can cause some damage, and eliminates the frustrating 95% misses, especially those at point blank range, that you could get in XCOM and XCOM2, very frustrating when you're in the tile next to an alien with 100% and your soldier still misses. Another game that deserved a spot on the early "runners up" list is XCom: Chimera Squad (had directional Overwatch before Phoenix Point.) Reason I say on the "runners up" list is, it feels more like an RPG.
Dating the Terminator anyone ?
Honey, pc gigachad posted another banger!
haha thanks.
i love your video
wow nice video
Thank you I appreciate the nice comment
All of them. Every single one.
haha, Nice
Dude, you look like a postal box with muscles.
Haha, thanks I think.
GOD DAMN THAT POOR BICEP CURL MACHINE CAW CAW. HOMIE LEAVE IT ALONE AND DO SOME SQUATS CAW CAW
No way you play any video games unless the game is deadlift
haha :P I do play a lot deadlift, it's true.
The issue with Steam Deck is that it's becoming quickly outdated. Many newer titles don't run on it, and unlike a PC, you can't upgrade it. And unlike a console, games are not optimized for it. Still good for older titles and some modern games as well.
yeah, it doesn't run all the games anymore. But I'm always surprised by how well it still run many of the modern games. I'm currently playing the new Dragon Age and Silent hill for example.
Wait there is a Zombies Ate My Neighbors remake??? Sign me up.
It's not really a full-on remake. More like a re-release with some extra stuff. But still really good. worth a pickup
Hello, Ghostwire : Tokyo is totally free in the Epic Games Store this week.
Let's fortify our Backlog with games we don't need. Who's with me ??!
When I got my Steam Deck OLED, I expected I would be heavily tweaking it to be perfect, like my desktop. But I don’t. I haven’t even installed Decky Loader or anything else. I only ever go into desktop mode to pull files from a USB to add non-Steam games to my library from my main rig, or to download a game from Firefox if needed. I tweak just enough to get a stable 45fps with the in game settings and the TDP, but that’s it. I’ve been using Linux for 15 years now, and the Steam Deck is my first Linux PC where I haven’t really done anything but turn it on and fire up a game.
Nice, sounds like you're doing it right. Somewhere between the Hardcore and the Rounder.
I am the Lenovo Legion Go type... i use my handheld as a pc. I can use apps like lossless scaling to play games im 4k docked on my tv. Type 11- actual tech nerd But i think i will buy a SD 2 if it ever comes out.
Nice, I've wanted to buy a go for a long time, but I'm waiting for a decent Sale since I can't justify it at this price point.
Im a terrible mix of the hoarder and the casual.
haha not thinking about video games but still buying them. That's a rare combination.
This video deserves way more looks and likes. Thank you for the great content! Enjoyed it, like I do enjoy my Deck (watched it on Deck, btw.) I find myself closer on this spectre towards the Rounder side. (Beside modding side - haven't tried anything of tricks and repairs yet.) Before buying Deck, I googled, read forums and watched videos about this Holy Grail for gamers for around 1,5 months. After deciding to start saving money for Deck, I have bought different Steam games on Summer sale. Spent approximately 70$ on them, got some wished titles. Got my LCD 512 for 395$ on local used market. Just right of the box, I installed dual-boot system feat SteamOS/Windows 10 - and besides using it as a handheld - it became my main PC for surfing, music production and few League of Legends matches here and there. Now I slowly engaging my old flaws to unlock the forbidden 11th type of Deck Player - the Pirate. Found myself "buying" games on the green Steam more often, than I'd expect from myself, mostly - because of my most wished titles, that are belong to abandonware type of games. Wish you a great luck, qnd thanks again for your work!
haha thank you for your nice comment. The Pirate is one I missed. Should've added that.
This is amazing. great video keep it up!
Thanks man, I appreciate it.
The tinkerer and modder working together, behind them a graveyard of dead steam decks, in front of them the ultimate gaming handheld, able to hold 40fps in Elden ring with slightly less dips than stock. Casuals tremble at their playtimes spent standing in the same place, swinging the camera back and forth until the LINE IS SMOOTH
haha. To the Ultimate Gaming handheld. hear hear.
I am between the tinkerer and the hardcore :D
haha nice, I think I'm mostly a hoarder.
this was amusing :D
haha thanks man, Definitely gave me a new appreciation of good games.
What's your type. Let me know below. Also did I miss any ?
Somewhere between the hoarder and rounder. :D Already got a list of games to look for during the steam winter sale but deep down I know that probably wont have the time for all of them. :D
haha Nice, I think I'm a somewhere between a hoarder and Handhelder. I'm excited for the winter sale, I just noticed there's also a Halloween sale going on. Might have to make a video on that.
Nothing hits like xcom2. 😢
Agreed, even after all these years.
It's seem we are are on the same journey seeking that XCOM itch, I've played every single games you mentioned except Mario. If you haven't already, try W40K: Rogue Trader. It's like Wasteland 3 set in the Warhammer 40k universe.
Thanks for the recommendation, I picked it up in the last Steam Sale but haven't tried it yet. I'll give it a go.
Phoenix Point I am the 3rd person who mention it ?
haha I think you're like the 20th. I've been playing it and you're right, it's great
Great video and also you are an absolute giga chad
Chaos gate is so good
I agree, such a badass game.
Glad you didn't play any ai game junks
haha true, I was able to avoid those.
Phoenix Point?
haha yes, definitely the number 1 if I ever make another of these lists.
Let me know about the worst games you've played.
Honestly, a pretty solid list! I've never seen your content before, but I'll drop a sub, thanks man = )
Thanks man, really appreciate it.
Have you heard of Shadows of Doubt? Not related at all to Silent Hill 🤣. I'm just very interested in that game and want to know how it plays on steam deck! You might want to check it out. It's a procedurally generated detective game! Looks interesting and it just got its 1.0 release steam deck "verified" 👀🤔
I haven't, but I'll take a look to see what it is. Thanks for the Tip.
Who's Playing Silent hill 2 on the Steam Deck Despite all its problems ?
I'll add my two cents to this list for people who are on a similar quest, and like me are not interested in a marvel trading card game, anime, or some mario brothers head-bop game. Gears Tactics -- seems to have the formula but got boring quick for me, especially the irritating voice acting and "plot" (why ffs?) and forcing you to take unkillable story characters on missions. Phoenix Point -- probably the closest thing to a real competitor to Xcom2. It has factions, much more freedom in terms of the strategy layer, more depth overall. Lots of DLC. Great game. Xenonauts 2 -- old-school X-com done up with modern-retro graphics but feels a bit generic still. Visually it is pretty underwhelming compared to most other games out there. I felt like the "fog of war" keeps your units from seeing enemies until you're right on top of them. Get ready to be insta-killed from across the map by enemies you can't see. Still fun though and worth playing while you wait for Xcom 3. Jagged Alliance 3 -- probably the best turn-based tactics game I've come across, I've played it 3 times and still discover new things. As far as squad-level turn based combat, I think it's about as good as it gets. I wish there was DLC for it. Corruption 2029 -- very cool squad-level turn-based tactics game with stealth infiltration elements. Although the unit skills and weapons are limited, this isn't necessarily a bad thing because its balanced really well and each unit has a role and a specialty that forces you to really think and strategize rather than just brute force your way through a situation. I just wish it was longer, the campaign feels pretty short. Phantom Doctrine -- cold war espionage game with a lot of very cool elements no other game has. Tons of depth to the strategy layer. The gameplay focuses a lot on stealth, but going in guns blazing is always an option, and unless you are endlessly patient and meticulous you will usually have to shoot your way out of most missions. Along with JA3 I consider this a must play. Miasma Chronicles -- This one seemed promising at first but ultimately felt a lot like Gears Tactics -- fun but repetitive combat surrounded by a bunch of irrtating, time-wasting filler. I don't know why they're always determined to cram a derivative, generic storyline into video games -- especially a tactical combat game? It's like they're all frustrated screenwriters or something, so they force you to watch endless cut scenes and voice-acted NPC dialogue and grind out a bunch of fetch quests and other busywork, all to reveal a plot you couldn't care less about but are forced to sit through anyway. It's especially onerous in this case, as the plot is like some horrible generic young adult sf-fantasy novel pablum.
Lots of good recommendations. I'll have to try jagged alliance 3. I've never tried it since the setting didn't interest me that much(I like my aliens and monsters). I also recently picked up Phoenix point based on recommendations in the comments and I'm liking that a lot.
Age of Wonders 4, Into the Breach, Xenonauts 2, and Star Renegades are all fantastic games that you should play.
Agreed. All amazing games.
+1 for Into the Breach. So much depth and replay value.
yes, for such a simple concept, amazing tactical depth
