Hello! Welcome to my channel.. My name is Priti and I garden in Toronto, Canada Zone 6. I’ve created this channel to share experiences with my beautiful perennial garden and indoor plant collection. I am just a home gardener forever learning and enjoying all my nature smiles ❤️ I strongly believe that when you plant a garden you have a friend forever. Weekly Garden Tour - Late August!
It’s late august and let’s walk in my garden to see the beautiful late summer color! Summer perennials are in their full glory and roses are putting on their second flush! Hydrangeas are changing to rosy pinks as we start getting some cooler nights! There is a feeling of the fleeting summer and fall vibes are starting to creep in. Soon the garden will start getting ready to transition! Let’s enjoy the last few bits of summer and I’m finding myself pausing more than doing.

Here is a before and after of my backyard garden updates. I decided to finally make my peace with the lawn and convert my backyard into a meandering set of gardens and paths. The paths will evolve over time as the plants fill in and I create some edges. But this will do for now and loving the opportunity to expand my shade garden and adding some lovely new perennials and shrubs! #backyardgarden...

Your Florentina is beautiful,, it looks huge. I planted one 8/23 I’d like it around an obelisk but not sure if it’s feasible. I’m in zone 5 and I’ve also got kiss me Kate and I’m hoping to use obelisk as well….
@@sviet3637 Thank you! It does get huge as it is very prolific and puts out a ton of canes if it is happy! I ended up adding an additional arch to support it. You could keep it trimmed if you want. It’s a beauty!

You said you live in Toronto. Do the banana plants survive through the winter?
@@zebalunsarna1613 those will not survive our winter. They are not frost hardy.. I overwinter them indoors.
Your garden is still so colourful. I haven't been doing much in my garden either. I must get out and do some pruning and weeding. Love that Quick Fire Fab. Bonny
@@richbishop7896 yes it’s been a bit slow for me in the garden too! I’m doing some things here and there but need to get out and do some weeding and deadheading too! Yes the color on the quick fire fab is amazing! ❤️🌼

You are a busy lady! Your flower garden is overflowing with beauty and the amount of flowers you've planted in each garden is amazing! I have 2 larger flower gardens, which the last few years I've added more flowers to make it like a cottage garden, kind of like yours, and it's magical. Everyone has complimented it since it's fuller. I'm glad I just found your channel.

I have a small blue chiffon but it has not bloomed yet. It does have buds, so it won’t be long!

This plant is actually the lavender chiffon cultivar, blue chiffon is actually very blue in photos/person with no pink tones
Thank you. This plant doesn't have pink tones maybe that's how it appears on camera. The flowers fade to a purple which. most "blue" flowers do change to a shade of purple. there is a odd chance it was mislabelled but I've seen lavender chiffon and it is much lighter and more pinker than purple. I also have a magenta chiffon which is more of a plum/pink purple and a completely different hue. Which one do you have?

The rose is really big. Maybe adding a wide arbor in front of the entrance of the backyard like the one you have in the front.

Your garden looks great. You do a good job with the roses. I tried a rose bush but couldn’t cope with the beetles. Where’s Ollie today?

❤Many of my own favorites: Royal raspberry Agastache, geranium Rozanne , coreopsis moonbeam, Russian sage, phlox opalescence, allium millennium, Calimintha nepeta👍. Thanks for sharing, especially the agastache, which I think is very under appreciated
@@plantmandb Those are amazing favorites.. I have to find me a moonbeam coreopsis.. Agree agastache is such a rockstar perennial and it has such a long bloom time. I also added some native species which are also fabulous.. I find myself adding more varieties each year!

I planted that Zagreb coreopsis this year in my driveway garden. This is the first year that all my hydrangeas are blooming. I'm loving all your coneflowers. Bonny
It’s a really good year for Hydrangeas! They are gorgeous! You will love the Zagreb.. it has a very different yellow that really stands out!

In recent years I went back to my grandpa/granny garden near the house where I was born and wanted to plant some plants there and some even from seeds. Enjoying being there and doing some gardening. Thank you!! I only planted it last year - It has taken a bit to get established but it is holding up to the heat well. I haven’t seen any black spot on it in my garden so far! I’m in Toronto

How many hours of sun exposure do they need?
Mine get 5-6 hours of morning sun. They will definitely be happy in full sun! But you can also try them in part shade. They might flower less but they should do ok.

What zone are you in and also how to manage thrips on your light colored roses
I’m in zone 6 - I haven’t seen much of a problem with thrips. I usually just let nature take its course. I had aphids last year which are easy to just spray off with water.
