The Roman wall of London
Did you know that London used to be a walled city? In this video I take a walk around the City of London finding what remains of the Roman Wall, built around Roman Londinium in 200AD.

Around Old Skala, Kefalonia

Skala is a village in the south of Kefalonia in the Ionian Islands of Greece. Like many other villages on the Island the old village was abandoned and rebuilt down by the sea. I take a walk around the hill/mountain to take in the views and find something unexpected!

In 1953, a major earthquake devastated Kefalonia, Zakinthos and Ithaca. Villages were destroyed and abandoned leaving ghost villages. This is a short video of Old Vlachata in Kefalonia near Sami.

I walked up to the Venetian castle above Assos, an extremely picturesque and pretty village in Kefalonia in the Greek Ionian Island, and talk about its history. I consistently refer to the "Empire" of Venice when it should be "Republic"!

Batterie Scharnhorst

Please like and subscribe as it really helps the channel. Batterie Scharnhorst is a WWII German occupation Army battery. Loved the tour. I can't imagine renting an apartment and looking out my windows at a Roman wall! I'm glad they have allowed some of the wall to continue existing and wish the other buildings had not been demolished.
London is constantly changing and it's amazing given this that so much remains both physically and in the names. I didn't mention in the video the importance of London Bridge, which would have been a gate of sorts itself, and the riverside gates like Billingsgate and Oystergate. So interesting! There’s a very common word only really used in Scotland with is outwith , I wonder why this didn’t become common in England as without sounds like something is missing!
