Spiritual Abuse Medic
#spiritualabuse #toxicfaith #churchabuse #churchhurt
Do you need a spiritual abuse medic? Medics are those daring clinicians who walk along side the troops in war. Whenever someone is shot down, the medic runs to get them back on their feet and to safety.
I'm a bit of a medic for people in the church who have been hurt by spiritual abuse and toxic faith. If you are in a tough situation and need some advice and direction, I offer online coaching at readingremy.com.

    That kind of leader does not have the basic quality of making disciples and raising up leaders. They do not delegate responsibility and authority. What amazes me is how many are not very discerning and believe the toxic leader. There are some who will stand up for the the toxic leader which enables that kind of leader to do more damage.

      True, and that's because it's all about them. To raise up others takes the focus off of them and could prove to be people who challenge them.

    Sadly, your comment reflects what is happening in so many churchs. I found this video excellent. My "test" of a quality leader is, "do they react to being questioned"? If a challenging question creates an instant negative reaction then you've just received a huge red flag.

    many of these false teachings are based in proof-texting of Scripture. instead of the unsearchable riches of Christ being taught and expounded, a personal agenda is pushed because "the Bible proves such-and-such" ... what does the text "prove"? whatever is to the maximum gain of the one using it to prove something THE HEART OF A TRUE SHEPHERD i now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ for the sake of His body, which is the church. Hebrews 13:17 “Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.” ‭‭ Very straight forward from the word. God doesn’t bless anyone against his order

    • @FRemyD
      @FRemyD 2 місяці тому

      This assumes that all leaders do a good job of "watching over your souls." When leaders are abusive, all bets are off. The wise person walks away or brings correction and accountability.

  • @richardwashington421

    Hebrews 13:17 LSB [17] Obey your leaders and submit to them-for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account-so that they will do this with joy and not with groaning, for this would be unprofitable for you. This is the one that gets brought up and thrown around in these circles. At times it is hard to speak against since it is a direct quote from the NT scriptures. I literally heard the church saying we must obey the pastor and learn obedience to the man of God given to us.

    • @FRemyD
      @FRemyD 2 місяці тому

      The question is: Are the leaders actually watching over your soul or are they watching out for themselves? Hebrews is assuming the best, but that's not always the case. We are also told to watch out for false prophets, so we need to be discerning and take the appropriate action.

    • @LAURAFSTAGERALD
      @LAURAFSTAGERALD 9 днів тому

      Either that scripture is true or what we are saying which is opposite to the scripture is true. It's not right to just come out and say obedience and submission are words of abuse in the church. From the old to the new testament God's ordained leaders have always been in a place to give instructions and orders and to be obeyed. Even Paul sent his spiritual sons and gave them orders. Paul himself together with others were once sent by the apostles Acts 15:25-27. The same Jesus who came to serve often sent his disciples. It's important to explain your message with a balance so that people don't get the opposite idea to what you are trying to put across. Moses sent the 12 spies, NT Peter and John were sent to Samaria. Acts 8:14

    • @FRemyD
      @FRemyD 7 днів тому

      @@LAURAFSTAGERALD My point is that the words "obedience" and "submission" have BECOME the words of abuse because of how people have mishandled their positions of authority. To obey God and to submit to his authority in your life is certainly true and central to God's word. But sadly, many people cringe at the use of these words because of abusive leaders.

    I lived in a Bible-based Christian ministry that was a cult for 7 years. The cult leader always called me "the faithful sister." At the end of that time, they pulled me into the main office and told me I had somehow failed God because I wasn't a pastor. I hadn't failed anything or any training. I waited for them to tell me something I actually did wrong, which they never did. They just made generalized statement, like "We decided you just want attention." They twisted a Bible verse to sound like it was God condemning me and kicked me out. We were brainwashed that our leaders were "anointed" and spoke for God. I only recently found out that verse has nothing to do with condemning God's people. I got away from JESUS for 18 years. After that I realized GOD is infinitely above human beings, and I came back to JESUS. What really helps is seeing these videos about the false preachers doing the same things the cult did. Then I can see it objectively. Claiming they have the "only truth" and if we leave we "backslide" and all other Christian churches have "false doctrine." I hope this helps anybody else who was driven away by so-called "Christians" acting badly to them. There are so many false prophets and preachers now !!! JESUS is everything to me now. I PROMISE YOU JESUS LOVES YOU AND DIED FOR YOU !!!!!!!

    When the question of women in ministry comes up most of us don't look at the historical role of empowered female ministers that faced death and persecution in their witness of the gospel . The matter of church discipline must be taken into consideration and not a steadfast omission of the opposite sex in ministry . Many women missionaries have gone out during the centuries alone to start and lead churches and been very successful . When it comes to spiritually abusive pastors they are never ready to contend with correction or confrontation from the members of the congregation Most times you find out they are covering up a vast multitude of wrong doing and even a criminal past .

    If I could tell you the journey I have been on and how God has revealed the idolatry in my own heart over my now deceased pastor and the church she lead. God has brought me into a very personal, intimate and one on one relationship with Him over the past 3+ years. I have separated myself from family and friends who are clearly in the same boat that I was in (the same church) and it has been a test of my trust in God but it served to point out the idolatry in my heart. Still God is leading me everyday into a genuine trust in Him, helping me let go of creatures and my delusional security that I thought I had with God, but was in a false reality inside the bubble that I lived in with others who did the same. I used to be in AA then after 10 years of recovery I relapsed and lost several friends and family to death including my mom and dad. I then got involved in new age and divination but have been faithful to return to Jesus. I was attending a NAR church, deliverance ministries and false prophets. I was told I have demon and have intrusive thoughts and immense fear. One pastor lied to me about returning my phone call for counseling and then when I saw him at church I asked him if I could talk to him, he backed up from me put his hands up and told me he was protecting his spirit. I’ve had deliverance ministers have conversations with demons that were acting out by moving my body all around and talking through me and nothing was ever resolved, I was just tormented more and still am. I spent 9 hours with 3 ministers who brought me through tons of renouncing things which I know now, is not biblical. I finally prayed and felt like God was telling me to stay home and read the Bible (in spite of friends and family telling me not to forsake the assembly) When I did this I began learning scripture, hermeneutics and how to actually “read” the Bible in context. I realized that I knew nothing of salvation (realized now). Ive repented because I was committing every sin that would have sent me to hell. I’ve been faithfully listening to scripture day and night realizing that 26 out of the 27 books of the NT warn us about false teachings and teachers but I’m in immense fear and have panick attacks still. I found a biblical church but I have panic attacks while trying to sit and listen so I quit going even though the pastor was very nice to sit and talk to me and apologize for the abuse of others. I’m drained and ready to call it quits. I work 10 hours in construction and have relied on prayer,energy drinks and smoking just to earn a living while experiencing panic attacks, fear of demons and extreme anxiety. I finally decided to go to the doctor and get on a non narcotic anxiety med because it’s a huge burden just to get out of bed. I’m extremely discouraged with life because I’m barely surviving. I’m in utter fear of demons and worried about demons using people around me. Thank you for making these videos because they are helping me to calm down.

      I'm against leaders who fail to keep watch over the souls of the people under their leadership. We can't be blind to abuse and justify submitting to it by quoting a Bible verse. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for being blind guides who make people twice the sons of hell as they are (Matthew 23:15). It doesn't sound like Jesus was encouraging people to follow that kind of leadership. If I was in the crowd when Jesus said this about my leader, I'd find a new leader.

    I was in leadership of my Church for 7 years. I can identify most of these items with our new pastor. I recently attended the last board meeting where I spoke about several issues with our new pastor. ( Specifically personal attacks on previous elders, Secrecy, Idolatry , Manipulation, Abuse from alter to congregation) I was told after I left the meeting the An Elder , Pastor and Decon said I spoke half truths and double speak. Completely ignored the. issues long time members shared with me to bring to the Church. It's been heartbreaking watching these brothers and sisters in Christ treat the Lords gifts with such Pride. One Decon who's a lovely person blindly ignore any of the claims and " We need to attack these issues". . The leadership needs to speak to the congregation, and deal with the issues. Instead the Pastor asks the Board to have secret votes on paper. during meetings. For a season I intend to stay far away so not to continue to spread discord.

    My Girl Friend and I were going to a Church , little did we realise ! My Friend was going to give her Testimony, She was nervous, asked me for a peace of choclate , Next minute the Pastor.was in our Face , abusing use , bring my Girl Friend to Tears ! Very Extreme and Reasonable. We were going to leave the Church, unfortunately the Pastor put an Evil.Spell.on my Friend. The troubles didn't end there, one of the Elders created massive disruption to the , Verbally attacked the Pastor ! He caused so much damage , membership dropped , from 60 down to 12 and has remained that way . When I first went along the Pastor hit on me , I was going out with my Girlfriend, and not interested . The Pastor set about destroying our Friendship, any and all methods, my girlfriend had an open mind , my Girlfriend became so Brainwashed, the pastor , if I said anything questioning the pastor , my Friend would go off the rails . Yet my Girlfriend had numerous, goes at me Citing very unchristian things about me , Eventually my Girlfriend started Ghosting me, in Checking the Bible , and number of other sources , it is against Christian Morals Ethics and most of the Bible . I miss my Girlfriend, and the times we had . I hope one day she will wake up to just how Evil.the pastor is , My Girlfriend has been so Brainwashed Influenced by the Pastor " Do unto others , as you would have them do to you " Luke 6:31

    I've been "looking" for a church to become involved in after some bad experiences. The first thing I do is email the church to let them know I'm interested. I've emailed FOUR churches so far and NOT ONE response back. The only thing I can figure is they want dumb sheep who just "attend" and take whatever behavior they dish out and not anyone with enough thinking ability to email them first. What a racket. I thank God for Christian radio - I don't know where I'd be today if it hadn't been for that even though I have disagreements with what I hear from time to time.

I’m a very non confrontational person but like you said in this vid, I’ve felt called for a little while to say something because no one is else was doing it. Now that the private convo has happened, we can move forward with the biblical process.

    The Word of God is the judge, it's not just a suggestion or model. Unbelievers don't understand this. They arbitrarily draw a line of division between Jesus Christ and the Word of God whenever it benefits their dogma. And the instant they divide the two, they create their own false christ. 2Cor 11:4 2Cor 13:5 1Cor 1:19-29
