In this video shot before the Preakness, our team caught up with trainer D. Wayne Lukas to discuss Seize the Grey, Just Steel, and what it's like to have 2,000 owners on one horse. Little did we know at the time that Seize the Grey would go on to upset the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes! Little did we know - but it sure seems like Lukas liked his horse a little bit. In the event, Seize the Grey went ...

One to watch: Copper Tax's troubled Tesio
Переглядів 4455 місяців тому
Copper Tax certainly had a troubled trip when he won Saturday's Federico Tesio Stakes at Laurel Park. How troubled? We break it down here. The win was important on its own terms what stakes win isn't, to the connections? but it also punched the sophomore a ticket to the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes May 18, should his connections decide to go that way. Will they? It's certainly no easy spot, and Cop...

In the space of nine days, trainer Michael Gorham sent out three full siblings - all by Maryland sire Mosler and out of the winning Jump Start mare Gansett - to victories at Laurel. “I don’t know if that has ever happened,” Gorham said with a laugh. “In that short a time, three foals to win, that was kind of crazy.” One of those in particular three-year-old Quint's Brew bears watching.

If MD owners want him to race for Preakness, the trainer has no say? Am i wrong
In the USA it's called the Derby!!!
It’s pronounced Darby in Great Britain
LOL
Is that AI narrating? We dont have a DArby..🙄
This announcer kept calling the DERBY, the DARBY .
No!!! Really??
It’s how it’s pronounced in Britain.
Awww I just saw another interview of Dejuan Smith. He bought a $500 racehorse, an older mare of 4 or 5 years old, taught himself how to ride, and taught her what he knew about pacing yourself from running track in highschool; then he entered her in 4 races and they won $30,000. 🏆✨

it's called the racing biz but you never heard of rich glazier?
Good work...
Had a thousand on him
How good is this horse? She runs tomorrow......
Catch that vintage Preakness tie on Gary!
I hope he makes the trip to Santa Anita for the Shoemaker Mile. He looks like a standout. There is another sharp horse in CA named Hong Kong Harry, but Chez Pierre looks like the one to beat in the Grade I race.
1 for 95 the past 3 years
He did so much for Parx and Garden State: excellent announcer, good at anticipating developments. He began in 1986 right before I moved here. Well-earned retirement. So much of my money hung on his every word.
Keith Jones was a consummate professional. Easy to listen to.
Estupidos.
Add the racer to your watch list -- and hop aboard for what may become one slick ride.
Hope you end up being a hall of fame jockey congratulations 👏
Who Runs The World
Hmmmm….while this may seem clear to many, it’s actually pretty close. Me having no skin in the game I can be objective and consider both positions. First I spent 13yrs with race horses and was a jockey for 10 of those. Fairgrounds New Orleans, Jefferson Downs New Orleans, Louisiana Downs Shreveport La, Hawthorn Chicago ILL, Sportsman's Park ILL, Ellis Park Kentucky, I been around. I still watch races everyday. Back to the races, the inside horse/rider definitely used his position to corral the outside horse…entering his path excessively. Not that the inside horse/rider has cocked the horses head to the outside and is hitting his horse with the whip left handed intentionally impending/intimidating the outside horse and more over rider. If the outside horse and rider done veer out it is possible that the horse in the rear will clip heels and go down. Some will call this race riding, i however will call it a foul. The inside horse used his position to prevent the outside horse from being able to compete fairly. The outside horse was almost still able to overcome this obstacle to win. Now come the factor that I use to determine if the horse should have been taken down, placed second rather first. Did the foul clearly effect the order of finish? YES…with that said, i personally would have ruled to take him down. This type of riding happens every day, and stewards turn a blind eye. The top riders in the country are given bias on this all the time. Irad Ortiz Jr just got 30 days for careless riding. I’ve never heard of that. I believe this was through a culmination of events that occurred over an entire meet. The stewards in NY take great pride in hosting the best horses in the country. This results in having a jockey colony the matches up with the best in the world. It also creates and opportunity for Irad, Luis, and multiple others to have the opportunity to become leading rider in the country if not the world. So they let them act like idiots until the rider decides to leave the circuit and gives them extensive days penalty in between meets.
They used to paint the first win for a jockey! That could be considered bullying perhaps. Buckets of water is nothin'. Oh and Congratulations on your first win!!
"To be a jockey is to be an athlete" Virgilio Decan "Aly Khan" Venezuelan retired horse racing announcer Greetings from Venezuela 🇻🇪 Congratulations, Victor! 😊 "Ser jinete es ser atleta" Virgilio Decán "Aly Khan" Ex narrador hípico venezolano. Saludos desde Venezuela 🇻🇪 ¡Felicitaciones, Víctor! 😀
