When the ‘expert’ tightened the wheel bearing locknut, he did not back off the nut, tighten it again, back it off, and use a torque wrench to set the preload on the bearing. The bearing will definitely overheat. Guess what? More work so they can buy more pajamas and flip flops.

I asked my Mechanic to come out on the side of a really busy road and fix my broken axle ,I said bring 10 helpers and a boat full of screw jacks , you won’t have to replace the axle just weld it together I heard hysterical laughter just before he hung up ! The problem not their trucks it’s the guy who can remember how many 100 Pound bags of concrete they put ton the truck!

This job fall into the category of Warranty Work. They repaired it 2 weeks ago.

SUPER AMAZING! Fixed the broken axle, got rid of the camel back spring system and installed a conventional leaf spring set up with overloads! And converted the tandem to a single axle! And a full paint job to boot! Super amazing skills! I did notice that the one guy forgot to throw the wheel bearings in the dirt. Can his ass!

There are three things that cause an axle to break, neglecting service intervals, rough roads, overloading. I suspect the latter. As for working under the vehicle with just an hydraulic jack that's probably badly maintained is highly risky and a good chance of meeting your maker prematurely. On the plus side these men who are highly skilled work hard to make a living.

There are so many leaf springs that they dont absorb shocks anymore. That and overloading the truck the way that do will result in parts breaking all over.
