In spite of Ken Ham’s best efforts to show otherwise, by building the ark he demonstrates the hyperbole in the Flood story. Yes, he has succeeded in building an ark the dimensions of Noah’s ark (510 feet long). As I looked at the online video of the construction, though, I noticed all of the cranes, the metal scaffolding that keeps the structure from collapsing, the power tools, and last but not least the many, many skilled craftsmen and craftswomen who were building this large boat. I end up asking myself, could Noah and his family have built an ark of this dimension by themselves using only primitive tools? Let’s remember too that the time of Noah is well before the manufacture of iron, bronze, or cooper tools. I think the answer to our question is a decided “no”. The flood story is FILLED with hyperbole that would likely have been recognized by its ancient audience as a figurative description of an event in order to produce an effect and make a theological point, and NOT an example of ancient journalism or accurate science.

    • @YouToobeism

@plainsman said "a figurative description...... to make a theological point" Well said. And the point being made is a weak one at that, as Noah's grandchildren, cousins all, had to marry each other to repopulate the world..... a world into which sin and avarice flooded back.

I was hoping this would be an explanation of how the Arc was built. Disappointed to really see a building being constructed and not an accurate boat construction of the time, say 4000 BC using tools and equipment from this time. I note that some ship restorations and replicas do use authentic constructions and processes - I have just watched the rebuild of an 1874 sailing ship mast rig - While they used cranes to speed the work, they also used traditional methods and sequences for some components as demonstrations to accurately show how the work was done. I feel this Arc fails for me as it is not a true replica that historically demonstrates an authentic Arc using Noah's technology, rather it is a modern film set. This Arc is not a replica and shows that Christians can not be trusted to represent the truths in the Bible,.

Its simple if you want to believe in God and his word great than believe and go enjoy things like this if not just keep living like your living since you are the one who is going to have to answer for it, me personally I would rather live like there is a God and find out there isn’t one when I’m dead than life like there isn’t one and spend eternity in hell !

    1. The most common date given for the flood is 4400 years ago, right in the middle of the Egyptians first burst of city and temple building, why did they not notice they were under water? 2. To flood the planet to over top the highest mountain you would need about 3 to 4 times the known amount of water in the world, where did all that water come from? 3. After the flood, where did the water go? 4. How did 8 people build a wooden ship bigger than any wooden ship built in modern times when THAT ship was reinforced with steel bracing and still broke up and sank. 5. How did animals with odd diets get to the ark? 6. How did 8 people deal with the needs of 10000 animals on the ark? Each animal had to be fed, watered, exercised and the poop scooped. Working 12 hours a day they would need to deal with over 100 animals per hour. 7. If there were 10000 animals on the ark representing about 4000 species, and there is now about 8.7 million species on Earth, each species surviving the flood would have to generate 217 new species in the 4400 years since the flood. 8. If there were 10000 animals on the ark representing about 4000 species, and there is now about 8.7 million species on Earth, each species surviving the flood would have to generate 217 new species in the 4400 years since the flood. 9. Well according to the Book of Jasher, the wives ARE sisters. Jasher 5: 32-35 "And thou shalt choose for thy sons three maidens, from the daughters of men, and they shall be wives to thy sons. And Noah rose up, and he made the ark, in the place where God had commanded him, and Noah did as God had ordered him. In his five hundred and ninety-fifth year Noah commenced to make the ark, and he made the ark in five years, as the Lord had commanded. Then Noah took the three daughters of Eliakim, son of Methuselah, for wives for his sons, as the Lord had commanded Noah." If a species undergoes a population bottleneck, the lack of genetic diversity can be seen in the members of that species. NO such bottle neck exists in the overwhelming majority of species. 10. 4400 years is not a long enough time to generate the diversity in the human population to give rise to the different populations of people we see on the planet especially when you consider that effectively the genetic diversity was limited to 4 people, Noah and his wife and Eliakim and his wife. 11. Ken Ham's phony Ark has a million Dollar + heating, ventilation and air conditioning system that ensures that workers and visitors do not suffocate in the building. According to the bible, the original Ark had one window, 18 in square. Sorry people but if Ham's estimate of 1600 species represented by a minimum of 4000 animals, they would have suffocated. 12. There is NO trace of any global flood in the geology of the world. Lots of local and regional floods, yes, but NO global flood. 13. Oh and by the way, for those fools at CMI who think Noah's Flood was a real event, a Tomb has been discovered in Egypt dated to 4400 years ago, about the time of the mythical flood (according to many biblical creationists). This raises several questions. a. If the Tomb was built before the flood, how did it escape being flooded? b. If the Tomb was built after the flood, the Earth's population would have been devistated so who built the tomb? c. Why is this Tomb perfectly in line with Egyptian culture before and after the fairy tale flood? If everybody in Egypt were killed in the flood, the Egyptian culture from before the flood would have been lost. He could have put that fruit tree on a different planet 13 billion light years away from the Garden of Eden but no, he put it right in front of Adam and Eve in the absolute knowledge that they would eat the fruit so that he could then punish them despite the fact that right up to the point of eating the fruit they had no concept of good or bad. They had no idea that what they were doing was bad so he punished them for doing the very thing he arranged and knew they would do. That's just sick.

If he wanted to blink out people, you wouldn’t have gotten finished with your comment or sneering at him. He’s patient, kind and merciful. He’s given you years of common grace. One day not long from now each of us will die. He’ll be worshipped willingly or unwillingly by us then. He’s not far from any of us. Call to him in repentance from your sin and he will have mercy on you. Just look at the construction - what we have here is a half-boat shaped construction which does not need to be waterproof let alone float and survive the greatest storm ever for 40 days. Even so it needed lots of heavy machinery to achieve just a small part of what Noah allegedly managed. Why did they opt for all that metal reinforcement and huge nuts and bolts to hold the timbers together; why not use wooden pegs just as Noah would have to have done. Did nobody involved in the construction look critically at this project and conclude there is absolutely no way this vessel could have been constructed 4.500 years ago? Just a simple example, we have tree trunks which are 65 feet in length with a girth of maybe 9-10 feet and the only way to move them is by using a massive crane. Did nobody look at just that one aspect and wonder how Noah might have managed to do it? Can somebody from Ark Encounter or AIG please explain this to me because the only thing I can take from this is that the story of Noah's Ark is quite clearly non-factual. It could not possibly be true.

Our brains are very prone to myth and legend. Our cultures are built on stories and they serve a strange purpose. Unfortunately people can't distinguish between reality and legend, but that is OK for now. My entire extended family believes and they do function well (half their brain believes and the other half deals with reality). They compartmentalize.

I was so Impressed with with the Ark Encounter because of the way it was set up and the information it carried inside it's walls and the Biblical information that I gleaned from it that day but also the confirmation of the information I already knew from years of reading my Bible and seeing things built the way the Bible explained. It was a work of art and proof of concept that the ark could have been built the way the Bible says. Those huge beams crisscrossing throughout the ship looked strong enough to withstand huge waves pressing against Port and starboard and the bow and stern looked like they could withstand being battered with floating logs. The stones tied under the ship would make sure that it received the least amount of flex and twist and swaying back and forth. And as for having to with stand crashes with mountain sides, God guided it smartly into the gentle curve of a mountain and settled it down there to wait until the rest of the water abated..❤❤❤❤

@@YouToobeism --First of all my name is Hubert not Herbert. Since the earth has only been around for 6,000 years Dinosaurs did not die off 65,000,000 years ago, so that places them in the time frame along with man. God created all the land animals and their kind on the 5th day. He created the beasts of the earth. One of those beast kinds was called a Dragon in the Bible and God described one or two of them. One was called the Leviathan They were not called Dinosaurs. As for a passenger manifest for the animals on the Ark I haven't found one of them yet, but if you read History there are many stories with some proof that dragons were a real thing, like the heads of dragons being brought back with the Knights from a fight with them. The Chinese celebrate the year of the dragon. Many buildings have images of Dragons protecting the building. In south America they are finding more and more pottery with Images of Dinosaurs (Dragons) that look just like our drawings and movies of Dinosaurs and many of them have an image of a man either riding or standing next to them. They are now finding this stuff all over the world.

Nor were they worthy of bringing aboard the Ark.... if they existed at all. The dragon in the bible is a mark of evil or mayhem. Why, oh why, would Noah take evil onto the Ark? Wasn't he deputized for the great reset; where sin was to be left behind? And it makes more sense to say, since the documented dinosaurs did, in fact, die off 65 mya, that the world could not be only 6,000 years old. If one took a vote of all 7 billion humans alive today, the percentage that would declare the earth to be no more than 6,000 years old would be 6.99 x 10 to the minus 8.... at best. This is truly a fantastic experience that you can only begin to get a grip on by actually visiting the Ark and going through the simply amazing construction and detailed exhibits that bring this Scriptural based event in history to your understanding! I want to thank everyone that was involved in this vision and that helped bring it to fruition for the outstanding testimony this Ark is to help my understanding of the accuracy of our written Word of God! We are planning another trip to include some of our grandchildren and great grandchildren that have not already been to this Ark Encounter display. The Ark Encounter is a joke. It’s fake. It’s a fairy tale. Do you really think the top of Mt Everest was covered by the sea? OK, where did all that water go? Why are there fresh water lakes? If the earth was totally covered in water, it would all be briny/salty. Dinosaurs did NOT coexist with man. It didn’t happen. If you still believe this, you are deluding yourself. You are believing a myth passed down orally for centuries and finally written down about 2800 years ago.
