An Introduction to the Art of Drum Circle Facilitation
I would like to take the course. How can i apply. I am from vietnam
Thank you for this.
I really appreciate your teaching.
I attended one of Arthur's Drum workshops and to be honest i found him to be quiet rude and intolerant of anyone who could actually play the Djembe.
that can say a lot
I missed this at the NAAM!
Terrific. Thank you very much 😊
Brilliant. Simply brilliant! 👏🏿
❤
Excellent. Thank you for sharing.
This is an an amazing video! Thank you so much!
Hello...where can I locate the colorful suzuki chimes, as shown.
Hi! What are the mellow, hand-held chimes, like the orange one in the lower left of the frame? Where can I get them?
This is fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I hope to start a drum circle and this is so valuable.
What a gem! I just started hosting a drum circle and this is very helpful ❤
Thank you, very helpful video. ❤
Great, video, great clases, great Master, thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏✨✨
What a joy it was to stumble upon this video. I will be facilitating a drum circle in the near future and turned to YT for inspiration and ideas. This was the first video I clicked on and found Arthur Hull. I took a drum circle class with him at UC Santa Cruz 43 years ago! Thank you for the inspiration.
Arthur ! Thank you for sharing this!! On February 25, 2023, the drum circle was held at Eumseong Welfare Center for the Disabled in the small city in Korea by Drumcircle facilitator, djembe fola Youngyong LEE. This drum circle activity was a program aimed at improving the happiness of families with disabilities and healing family groups for community care. Please enjoy our videos and write your comments.
Facilitated drum circles are stifling to the drummers. I'm just not into this type of drum circle. I guess it is only good for absolute beginners.
Here’s what drums I would recommend to bring to a drum circle: Djembe Conga Dun-dun Bongos Cajon Surdo Tubano Tambourine Shaker Maracas Doumbek/Darbuka Snare drum And you could always use more of this: *I GOTTA HAVE MORE COWBELL!!!!!!*
What things should be considered when preparing to facilitate a community drum circle that includes adults with varying levels of intellectual disabilities?
😮😍
Wow 😃shake..... 👐👐👐👐👐🙏🏼
LoL 😂😁
Beautiful ❤
So Wonderfully Uplifting 🙏🏼😊 Feels So ABUNDANT - thank you so much everyone!!!!
Oh shoot is that namm?
You just want to be in charge. A REAL drum circle is facilitated by the flow, vibe, spirit, and give and take. A REAL drum circle doesn't have, need, or use a "facilitator". I appreciate you spreading the love of drumming..... But please stop feeding nonsense to new people. You know this is BS and is all about your pride, need to be in charge, and money. Instead of "facilitating".... How about you get on a drum and do the normal "send & recieve" that REAL drummers and drum circles do.
What a small-minded view of things you are expressing. He is bringing exposure to this practice to masses of complete novices who would otherwise never try this practice. Once they are comfortable/confident, they can go have willy nilly drum circles any time. He creates space for people to develop confidence that they may not have ever otherwise developed.
@@jiminicricket5226 no. He is teaching people to be drum circle "facilitators"
@@TwoPaw-Shapurr And then they can go on to expose laypeople to this practice also...not sure what your point is. You just sound like a hater.
@@jiminicricket5226 wrong. Im a purist. The magic of a drum circle comes from the heart and soul of the drums. The ORGANIC flow of the rhythm, the ORGANIC rise and fall of the tempo, the ORGANIC flood of emotion as the beat courses through the group. Each in turn feeling the pulsing magical flow of the beat. The ORGANIC and NATURAL knowledge of when and where to hit the skin as the drummers FEEL the ebb and flow.......not from a facilitator. If he TRULY wanted to spread the knowledge, magic, and love of world drums.....he would teach people the bass, slap, and hit spots....then sit them in a circle, shut up, and let the music be CREATED. Not facilitated or forced. EVERY drum circle has that one guy or lady that ruins it for everybody else by trying to facilitate the circle. The "facilitator" is hated by REAL drummers. A "facilitator" is the guy or lady that cant actually TRULY FEEL the magic....so decides to try and be in charge so they can stand out, be in charge, or feel they are more important than they are. As the saying goes, "those that cant do....teach". If he wants to be a part of something special, if he wants to spread the magic, and if he wants to "feel important".....the best thing he can do is: bring people together, sit down, shut up, and just play the damn drum
@@TwoPaw-Shapurr I think you're being really rigid in your thought process. I lived in Buenos Aires and attended La Bomba de Tiempo concerts/parties/drum circles and drum walks weekly for many months. They are some of the most incredible and talented percussionists in the world! They always have a facilitator/conductor and it's brilliant to be a part of. Some people actually enjoy being led. It does not make them not a "real" "natural" or "organic" drummer. I think it's your ego that needs to be checked, not the man who made this informative and free video. And if you watched the whole video, he clearly states that facilitators are meant to "get out of the way, and stay out of the way." Just my humble thoughts...
Fantastic video. Makes great sence, and I enjoyed playing along, at home, too.
This is very good. i am not a musician . However i am planning a small drum circle, as an activity and think your video will help me in this process. Very Grateful 🙏
Wonderful!!!
Absolutely delightful! Kevin you looked like you were having a great time 😂
Would love to have joined this intensive course.
Love these drum circles. Unfortunately, in Venice Beach, CA, the police would make them stop and disperse. For what? They are not bothering anyone. The police should be stopping crime instead of stopping a wonderful event like this. Makes NO sense!!!
Very helpful, thanks.
Gracias!
It is amazing! Thanks for sharing =)
This is so helpful! Thank you sm :)
Man I am so sorry I missed this year .... This looks like it was fun!

outstanding video. The training space looks amazing! Cpongratulations.
Way to corporatize a drum circle. All of this- every thing you say is nonsense. It’s geared to promote you. Drum circles are a gathering of people and promote a free expression, and do not require a leader. Smh 30 years in these circles- never needed .... you

Thanks 4 italian subtitles!
Thanks so much for your generosity. I'm starting a drumming circle in France and this is really useful. ❤
This is really good and all, but honestly, I coulda used a little more cowbell.
🤣🤣🤣😄😅
Brilliant! Thank you for this!
