I haven't seen my Dad since my parents split up when I was 9. We hadn't had any contact until my Mum died 5 years ago and I had to track him down through various social media sites to tell him. At the time he was very comforting saying he was sorry for being absent and that we would meet up to make up for lost time. As of this point I'm 36 and he has made every excuse under the sun not to reconnect with me. I'm have a wonderful husband with our own family and even though it hurts I'm moving on with my life. Sometimes it's the family you make for yourself and not the people you come from.

So beautiful. My sons' father also chose not to be in their lives. They both have a lot of problems with depression and insecurity now...even though they're older, just like the part of this song that says she was waiting 20 years. They also have given up waiting, as their mother I wanted to give to give them everything but the one thing they wanted, I couldn't give them. I hadn't heard this song before--thank you for posting it.
