Never knew that about the skid definition. Many people call standard pallets skids. Machinery comes on skids often with plywood decks the keep them from racking. Those slat and block pallets and any No.2 pallets (repaired) I give away so neighbors and passersby take them to base their firewood on. Had problems with slat and block pallets with huge slumping loads of potting soil bags. My 42” fork tines won’t reach the third slat so the loads want to tip away. Stringer pallets don’t do that ever. Fork tines just lift the top decking and the stringers keep it organized.

Respectfully, your individual stacks are pretty sloppy. It should be tight plum all sides. 680 48x40 4ways fit in a dry shed.

You didn't mention the euro pallet and it's quite popular too. I sometimes take broken pallets from my workplace, for firewood. Goods arrive on them every day and they are quite flimsily built. I choose pallets made of hardwood as they are better for burning than softwood but hardwood pallets are few and far between. I think they are made in India or someplace like this as the wood is different from any European kind of wood I know. It resembles beech by the structure but it's definitely something else. I feel kinda bad because I burn wood that might be coming from tropical rainforests but if I don't take those, they will end up in the big container and probably get turned into chipboards or some other shit.

I was taught on a straight load of 26 stacks you start right end right because of the crowning of the roads for less chance of the last 2 stacks shifting in transit.
