LISEY'S STORY | The Tragedy of Hank Williams
Переглядів 10014 днів тому
Stephen King is fond of piling up body counts, but in LISEY'S STORY, one of the main characters has actually already died when the novel begins. Thus kicks off a story full of flashbacks and memories, a journey into the past that is led along and accentuated by the nostalgic folksiness of country music. Themes of magical salvation through music are woven into the story, with a particular focus ...

But the ending of Frank Darabont’s adaptation of THE MIST, which is actually wildly different than the ending of the Stephen ...

      I know that Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) was working on (or maybe finished?) a prequel script called The Overlook Hotel, but I'm pretty sure the project got scrapped unfortunately. I feel like I remember hearing about a book that was tangentially related, but it's not coming to me at the moment...

    Do you write your own books? If not You can write this So an oil company digging for oil For the government. As they find the oil. They released this toxic gas that makes everyone insane. They start arguing about Who should keep the oil? and one of the oil workers starts killing the other oil worker with a pickaxe. The government Arrives at the site And wonders what's going on And the workers start to see the government. The government tries to collect the oil. but As He goes to confront the workers. he inhales the gas He starts losing his mind. And they start fighting each other, killing each other for the oil Until it's the last man Standing This sounds like it would be a good Stephen King novel But I think you should of the honor of Writing it in Inspiration of steating king If you want help developing it, I could help with that And if you already do publish books, can I read them?

    The ending was terrible. He never would have done it. He would do anything, including die, for his son. He chose not to look for his wife, for fear of abandoning his son. He never stopped trying, and took as many with him as he could. In the end he was whispering words of hope into his sleeping sons ear. It was a complete slap in the face to the character. It made the breach into a joke, and destroyed the tension of the story. It brought the story to a crashing halt.. The Mist lived in my mind ever since I first read it wondering what may have happened to them, along with the rest of the world. It made the insane religious fanatic right. It negated the plot of the military destroying the world, messing with things they shouldn't, then being useless.. a common thread in several of his books including The Stand. I watched it in the theater and could have happily punched Darabont in the mouth for ruining one of my favorite stories for no reason except shock value.

    i think the ending made the movie more well known and talked about. It leaves a deeper impact on people and gets them talking. A normal ending might of not had the same impact on the viewer.

      Nothing like a swift emotional punch to the gut to get people talking!

  • @HectorPlasmic
    @HectorPlasmic 28 днів тому

    No. The film’s ending ruined the story. It disrespects the Lovecraftian tale and inserts a cheap gotcha that does not fit the story at all. Imagine taking a Lovecraft story and inserting “Ha, just kiddin’” as the ending instead. A pity, but the prose story still exists, so I’ll be content with that.

    • @TheStephenKingdom
      @TheStephenKingdom 28 днів тому

      It's a valid point, and while I agree that the film's ending would not have worked for the novella, I think in the cinematic adaptation that this delivers a much more raw and satisfying visual and emotional impact. But I know it's not for everybody...

    I'm so sick of David Foster Wallace. He was a boomer who somehow captured Gen X, but in his lifetime never came close to being as prolific. He is lifted up because he is dead. Stephen King, while I don't agree with him politically and he is a boomer stuck in adolescence, I even mocked him on Twitter. I respect his work as a writer in general; he can weave a yarn like no other.
