SMS messaging out of an Allen-Bradley Micro800 Controller using the ICX35-HWC industrial Wireless Modem
Hi Simon, I have question, which type of cable that you use to connect from Siemens PLC to 1756 MVI56E SIE module ? is it Profinet cable or normal Cat5e Ethernet Cable?
@@tendaywibawa3663 Hi, just a normal Ethernet cable. Cat5/6.
Hi simon, Can you tell me how to read the address M from siemens? Thank you
This is so much better than the one on Prosofts own site. I struggled with the translation between the AOP and the Gateways internal mapping. Still find it funny that I have to map the registers to make the registers start at 40001 instaed os 42001. Why thats not the default still eludes me.
We are planning to use a PLX32 EIP MBTCP with EIP Class 3 Server, the PLX32 gateway as a server and both PLC and DCS as clients. Would you have another video, or a tech note that we can reference to start with? Thank you!
Can We use PS69-DPM (Compactlogix based Profibus module) in remote IO rack??
Hi, Yes you can. You will need to download the optional additional AOI from the module's landing page. Make sure that the power distance of the unit is less than or equal to 2
@@simonkembo thanks for the reply....i am trying to find out the AOI of the same, but it is not available at prosoft site..so can you just give me the link of that?
@@achauhan4932 I sent you an email directly with the sample logic and explanation.
Thank u so much. Very much helpful. Keep uploading more topics. 👌🏻👌🏻
Can i use this also to SMS messaging with an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix(1756-series) Controllers with rslogix5000??
Yes you can. We have an AOI for the Logix5000 platform that you can import into Studio5000 or RSLogix5000. You can download it from the module's landing page www.prosoft-technology.com/Products/Industrial-Wireless/Intelligent-Cellular/Industrial-Cellular-Gateway-ICX35-HWC
Very good presentation, thanks so much.

Awesome!
Simon, thanks for the video! Is there somewhere I can get the ICX35_SMS_Sample_CCW Project file?

Really useful, thanks for uploading
Sir, What settings we have to do in ICX35-HWC?
Hi, All you need to do it n the ICX35 module is enable EIP under the advanced settings
@@simonkembo Sir i already enable that setting but still it is not working..
@@achauhan4932 Can you send me an email at support.ap@prosoft-technology.com or via your ProSoft Connect Account
@@simonkembo sir i sent on support.ap@prosoft-technology.com
@@achauhan4932 no, we have not received an email from you. Can you resend it.
so while doing class-3 communications we don,t need PLX31(hardware)....? and if i want to do both class-1 and class-3 communications at a time how to do it..? and you have any other video that explain about MBTCP Client with PLC....?
So, the the PLX31 is a protocol converter. This means if you need to change EIP to Modbus TCP, you will need the PLX3x hardware. The module can support concurrent connections on EIP, class 1 and/or class 3. You can do both at the same time, just configure the Class 1 module connections and write MSG commands in your logic for Class 3 communication. Feel free to email any questions to support.ap@prosoft-technology.com. We would be happy to help.
Very well explained, I just have one question The EIP Class 3 Clients : we need them for what and what if we dont want to do any changes on th EIP Controller program other than just activating the EIP interface
You definitely can. The PLX31 gateway has imbedded CIP and PCCC clients and you could use the gateway as your client and have the AB controller operating as a server. The tags only have to exist in the controller and if it's a CLX/CMX (using PCCC), the logic mapping has to be done.
Excellent tutorial. It's been a while since I've used one of these and I was looking for a good review. This was spot on. Thanks for posting!

Hi Simon could you explain why you make DB1 (INT) Tag with input adress IW22? Thank you
Hi Tigran, So the latest version of TIA will automatically map your DB to the controller memory and automatically assign an address. Back in v13 SP1, you would have to assign a address to store your data in the Siemens controller. You would have to get the address from the controller's Device Overview. Does this answer your question?
Hi Simon Thank you for the fast answer I need to read and write DINT, in that case I probably need to define DB1 as DINT and as% ID22?
Not necessarily if you are using PLX3x-EIP-SIE gateway (or the MVI56E-SIE InRax card). The gateway's internal database is defined at INT limits (it is a 4000 INT size register database). That means from the gateway's point of view, a DINT is actually 2 INTs stored consecutively in the database. Say you have DINT in your AB controller, when you send this via EIP to the gateway, the gateway will store it as INT1 and INT2. Like wise, when you the gateway is returning it to the AB controller, it will return INT1 and INT2. At that point you will need a COP instruction in your logic to convert these INTs into a single DINT. The same applies to the Siemens Ethernet side. An ideal solution is to have 2 arrays at your controllers, one that is in INT size for the transfer and another that is in DINT size for the conversion of the transferred data. Makes sense?
Can I use same settigs for S7 1500 CPU ? I must read from DB 170 and write in DB 175 in this case i need 2 INT Tags or ?
@@tigrangrigoryan1105 Okay so as far as I can tell, it will work with the 1500, but I have never tested it myself so I can not be 100% certain. All the documentation I can find suggest that it does, I will need to do a bit more research. You have the freedom to read and write any datablock address. If it's a DINT, it would occupy 2 INT registers. I will avoid saying "you will need 2" because you essentially have 4000 INT registers to play around with.
