ooo Pearl Harbour So the fun fact was that the US was expecting B-17 bombers from the mainland (to the Northeast). The Japanese aircraft were detected approaching from the North by radar, but the US assumed those approaching aircraft were the B-17 bombers. Also, the Japanese Delcaration of War was supposed to be on the desk of the US Diplomats one hour before the attack began (given them basically zero time to warn overseas command), but the normal man who decoded documents from Japan as the Embassy was replaced by somebody sent from Tokyo because it was a "sensitive and classified" document, meaning he didn't decode it in time, meaning the declaration didn't hit the US desk until over an hour after Pearl Harbour was over. I'm a history nerd :(
