747 was grounded, crash landing...

They don't have a dominant structure, it goes by battle, today's winner can be TM challenger. They don't hold grudges they don't have a pack mentality they don't have leaders. That was a quick fight one backed down it was that simple the battle was not for dominance it was for that fishing spot he won. They could fight TM about something totally different. My point is for someone with your credentials you humanize these bears way too much. Bears do not have a dominant structure it's not about dominance it's about the objective, the female, the fishing spot, and the berry patch the winner gets the objects. These males back down for many bear instinctual reasons even when they could win. Have you ever seen a male fight to the death, I have once 5 years ago now. A male was mating with a female when another male came out of nowhere thru some brush, they started the battle while the one male was still mating. they fought to the death the challenger died in the end. it was two 800-900 lb bears, it was the craziest bear fight I have ever watched. The fight was 40 min of hard-core battle it could have gone either way. luck was the winner and the determination or Drive of the bear. The bear that one was also close to Death wounds everywhere ripped flesh all over & so tired and worn out He could not move once the adrenaline died out. I'm sure he lived but he lay there for over an hour while the female played in the water waiting to mate again. it was not the first battle I have seen start with they were mating but it was the first one I have ever seen where a big bore died. I did not think it ever got to that point but I was wrong. I saw it 50 yards away with my own eyes.

Wow! I thought one of the bears was going to drown. Survival of the fittest. Definitely a real life video of nature.

Bucky has always been my favorite with his endless personality and his showers. One in a million. And is he ever getting big!

I was on holidays when he returned this year and missed it…but I made up for it by watching all summer until he left in late September…hasn’t been seen in a few weeks now.

And one day, on a sunny afternoon, off in the distance, I saw a miracle in the making. He made his way to that special place in his heart of hearts. As if he had returned from the dead... It was him. He had returned as prophesied. He took his place in his "office". The return of Otis. The return of the king of Katmai. You are him that is him. You ARE... Otis!!!

I love animals and it's rare to get to kinda know one, he doesn't know me but I feel like a friend, even though he'd eat me

Me for one have been watching Otis for 6-years it was my baby a 4 year old daughter that want me to watch with her as we played with my computer when she seen the bear's that was it she just wanted to watch and we learned together all about OTIS !! I'm a newbie to the world of Brooks Falls Bears. It's very easy to be smiiten by the bears and I dig it about Otis. I live nine hours ahead and I've been watching Otis do his thing night after night under the cover of "his office". It's addictive viewing. Otis has really filled out since his arrival at the falls. May Mother nature be good to him and all the wonderful wildlife.

Oh how I wish I could have been one of the priviledged ones who got to witness this in real time. I think my heart would have exploded. I would have loved to have seen the reactions of the rangers and those on the chats. I cherish every moment of watching sweet Otis, not knowing when his final goodbye will be. I am so gonna hate to see the end of this season. I wish you knew, Old Man, just how loved you are by the world. Long live King Otis! 👑🐻🐾🐾❤️
