Hi Steven, since we had that little discussion over on the other video, I decided to see what you had to say about it. Good video, I think you are saying more power? I've shot a good bunch of 44 mag., and I've taken one along in the woods on and off for almost forty years, and not just store soft points, but I loaded SSK 320gr hardcast, at a time when heavy for bore was rare. I switched to 220gr hard cast 10mm, because I know it can penetrate, but all that matters to me is, I can get off five or six accurate shots in the same amount of time that I can honestly get off two accurate 44 mag shots. And, I tried a bunch of times. I was a through and through revolver guy, still shoot them often. I agreed for years about the reliability of revolvers, even though I had experienced first hand cylinder bind and a clothing tag that got caught in the cylinder, both things able to stop a well cared for, quality revolver for fifteen or twenty seconds. My 10mm has been rock solid reliable, so far. My situation, I do a ton of bird hunting in Montana, and I've seen all the big predators, moose, and of course tons of elk. Some day, I think I'll run into a sow with cubs, or surprise one bedded down, like these fellows did. My forty-four was always coming off, and I'd hang the rig off a branch or lay it down, the 10mm never comes off. It's lighter and more compact. I practice with it regularly, and I won't take it along if the reliability ever comes into question. These kids, the one that wasn't hurt, never would have reloaded a revolver in time to stay in the game, but he did what he needed, to get a new mag in. I think most all sidearms are low on power, and my story is just one opinion, but we have to at least try. You are probably aware of it, but there are folks with pretty steady nerves, like the Phil Shoemaker 9mm story at Buffalo Bore's website. He knew what he needed to do, and sort of discusses it. And, I didn't mention it to dispute any of your thoughts, it's just another story. Take care.
@craigm1954 you are getting my point. My experience is Wyoming mostly. Though I seen the Rockies from as far north as Edmonton Alberta into British Columbia, south all the way to the Mexico border. My birth place is northern Idaho. Again most of my adult life is as resident of Wyoming. Don't get me wrong I was young and thought I was 10' tall and bullet prof as well. I started packing a Ruger s redhawk 44 Remington magnum back in the 80's followed by same cartridge in the blackhawk. What a bad trade. The redhawk fits me so well. The year I took my moose, and a elk both had Grizzlies waiting and watching me process them. That year seen 7 different griz in one day. These boys survived by #s .
I haven’t seen half that many, wild ones, over all my years. I do have a soft spot for single action revolvers, but they might not be the best for a second shot, when recoil gets snappy. Best of luck, hunting season is right around the corner.
First, great video👍🏻 Second, I dont understand buying a revolver in 10mm when you get better revolver ammo. 44mag 454 casull. Just my opinion, i genuinely dont get it.
@brianconnor1810 6.5" magnum research 454 casull is my griz revolver. This my attempt to uplift 10MM to it's upmost potential without rechambering to auto magnum

Ive been shooting and hunting with the 30-30 Ackley Improved since the late 70s. Ive cooked up some impressive loads in that time. However, what was the point of this vid? Chronographs are cheap and easy to fix. Just shoot low, put a bullet through it and get a new one. Your numbers seem reasonable but are in doubt because you have no faith in your chrono. Your vid ending like this is all wrong. H4198 is giving me better than 2800 with 125s out of a 14" tube. Backing off to 2600 makes a lot nicer load to shoot.

Aw heck! I made my video yesterday and had no idea that the 10mm you were getting/had mentioned was a revolver 😮😮 I promise you I wasn't attacking your gun. The case length is about all that will limit your 10mm potential in that Super Redhawk. You couldn't fit enough H110 in the case under any given bullet to blow that cylinder up It'll be interesting to see what you can get out of with that barrel length and room to play with bullet weight and nose profile without having to worry about feeding issues.
@plowboysghost I was laughing my behind off! Rest assured I don't wear my feelings on my sleeves. Just decided my next 1911, if any will be a 3.5" acp. Why ruin a good thing. And like I said my eyesight on some days I can have chrome in the grass at my feet and I can't see it. Somedays are better than others Also I just recieved notification that my ROA grips video was removed for violation. Only mod seen was the word. Or heck maybe they hate the national anthem 🤔
@@StevenMMan You'll have room to either use a heavier bullet and/or seat the bullet out further...like you mentioned. I hadn't really thought of really hotrodding 10mm much beyond pressure level /powder amount in a revolver, but I'm sure someone with the knowledge you seem to me to have along with that long barrel, can get some impressive numbers out of it.🍻
I've seen all copper bullets that are longer than a lead bullet of the same weight because copper weighs less than lead. I just assumed that the all copper solids were slower than lead in part to less room left in the case for powder and the resulting increase in pressure. That would be an issue in trying to keep within cartridge OAL specs for the autoloader.
@plowboysghost absolutely true. Alot of my own rifle loads are monolithic. In a case like a .308 for example, a 150gr monolithic bullet length will be relatively similar to the 165gr cup n core jacketed soft point. Now thinking back on what I said on video, I may have misstated. I think 🤔 said 200gr when I'll have to confirm BB ammo monolithic dangerous 10MM is 190gr. Without having one on hand to measure to be sure, I don't believe in either of the two bullet weights, that the length would be longer than the 220gr cast. Like everything without the tale of the tape not absolute. There's in my mind a bigger issue on hand with monolithic, and that is that lack of a crimping Grove where I may need it. In a single shot bottle neck rifle situation There's is no need for crimping at all, and minimal in a bolt action. In the case at hand with 5 other cartridges loaded recoil could lead to failures of inertia. Something you've experienced even with lead Hope I'm making sense
Almost went away waiting for start of the video!
After watching a reputable gun show go after hogs with this same weapon I do not believe the 10 is close to black bear capable. Just Google sg 1910 re-rise the ruger 10mm episode to judge for yourself. It ain't even close to 44 mag...my 2 cents. No disrespect but please check this out. I believe chuk the 10 tard needs to watch it as well and see if he's gonna carry 10 against the grizzly in AK.
@JoseyWalesWi I will go check it out for certain. However let me ask you a question, if I'm understanding correctly. Did you get the impression that I am pro 10MM for grizzly defense? Even if my little experiment is successful?? I know that's two questions instead of one.

@StevenMMan No way brother! I am asking that you formulate your own opinion based off of what the hog hunt shows. I have my opinion and it is totally unbiased. I would like your opinion after you see the "Popular" idealogy perception of what the 10mm can be. My question to anyone is well what can the 41 mag be? Or 44? Or 454? Or 480? The power levels increase dramatically from the 10 is my point. If you watch this hog hunting you will question why peeps use the 10 as a grizzly defense cartridge. Please see this!!!
@JoseyWalesWi 💯 percent correct. I've found the site and tried 3 times to watch it. So for I get to see the ad video but but get a something want wrong on the content itself.
I have a Glock 20 in 10mm. It is a nice pistol. Underwood makes the best 10mm ammo in my opinion. I do not believe it is a good choice for grizzly no matter the ammo. You also mentioned the 222 Rem. I bought a gun collection and in that collection there was a Savage 340 in 222Rem in the collection. Planned on cutting it open to .223 but I found I really like the .222 just fine. It's an amazingly accurate little rifle.
@jakeoutdoors9600 yes they are mine was a Remington model 700 BDL. shots extremely accurate.
I could do without the intro
All true, and honestly not an impossible to accomplish with this revolver. In the long run I have to look past the Sammi spec but not sinking extra money for chamber work. As for the 1911 if so go there a 3.5" version of the ol 45acp will do.
"HATE" is a strong word... I love the 10mm. But don't feel its a Grizzly gun. Its better than a sharp stick and even better that the 9mm... THERE I SAID IT!! 😮😂❤❤ Jeff Quinn was his name RIP 🙏🙏🙏 I cant cotton to a 10mm as a dedicated revolver cartridge. If I wanted such it would be the 41 Rem Magnum.
👍🏼🙏🤘🏼❤️🩹❤️🩹🤘🏼🙏👍🏼
One last thought the first center fire revolver I ever shot in my youth was my dad's 1917 Colt. Most chambered for 45acp, my father's was 45 colt, that also excepted the half moon clips for acp. Had many argue that tidbit never happened. These days I don't remember the entire circumstances behind how acquired it, but one like it was his service pistol in Germany. He arrived over sea's in the early fall of 45,came home in 46 never seen combat

That is probably the smartest thing I have seen in a while, now I am on the hunt for a pair of those big clippers. Thank you for sharing this.
I have enough trouble considering which spoon to use with my soup. The array of permutations which firearms fans happily address -> barrels, bores, rifling, trueing, sighting, ammo loads, trigger weights, recoil, etc <- is remarkably!
Man, that is cool. I love my Contenders. I have a factory 45/410 barrel with the vented rib and that choke that turns the rifling straight. One nice thing about your set up is you have adjustable sights. What other barrels do you have? All my barrels are pistol barrels.
@@jakeoutdoors9600 most of my barrels at 10" except for the 8" .44 Remington magnum. Then there is the 45/410 barrel, rechambered to 45-55 walker, 327 federal, and a 357 Remington maximum. The .44 is on the first dumb 💩 video.
@@StevenMMan Thats awesome. Its pretty great that we can own the same gun and have different caliber interests.
