Tudor Black Bay 58 925 Secret Silver Alloy
Tudor does not share information of the Silver alloy composition used in the Blck bay 58 925 with the silver case.
So how can a potential buyer be sure it won't tarnish as they claim? And is the hardness of the alloy suitable for everyday use?
I share the analysis of the alloy composition measured on the watch I have purchased for this purpose.
I said once in the video by mistake 29,5% silver but of course i mean 92,5%

Great work. I thought all along that if Tudor is trying to keep the silver alloy secret / proprietary, they would not disclose it with an Al stamp on caseback. This probably references the anodized bezel. I have had mine for only a month, but no indication of tarnish. My wife has several pieces of silver jewelry (American Indian artists for the most part) stamped 925 for years now and there is no indication of tarnish. This is so unlike the silver flatware and serving pieces my mother had me slaving over annually as a child. I would sure like to understand why the difference.

You could sue Tudor for false advertising, just an idea for relatively easy money.

Tudor: Our watch does not tarnish. The Watch: Guess I’ll go… blonde.

Yellowish tarnish is to be expected from a 925 Silver alloy with Zink, or Aluminium as an example, indicated in the report on "Tarnish resisting silver alloys" published in 1927, it can be found on Google. Metallurgists have been questioning whether the process of silver tarnish can be slowed down or eliminated by alloying and metallurgical treatment for over a century but as long as a 925 silver alloy is used there is only so much than can be done in terms of introducing tarnish resisting materials. Also your personal use of deodorants, soap and skin/sweat chemistry in general will affect the rate of tarnishing. This can explain why some people have better luck with little to no tarnish even after months of use.

A number of people have reported tarnishing. Silver tarnish is easily removed. For example, the baking soda, salt, aluminum foil and warm water trick.

I have pure silver (99.9999%) bars and coins that turn black if not in a sealed bag.

Thank you for your great video. You’re next level ! I immediately subscribed and liked. I handled that watch last week and was mesmerized…I wanted to buy it but was put off by the numerous awful “patina “ pictures I saw on watchuseek and elsewhere. Please keep us updated .

Well done, Alexito! You've cracked the secret alloy code! Do keep us posted if you learn anything about the relative hardness of it.

Thank you for this information, a very informative video! After owning this watch for 8 weeks now, the watch still has absolutely no signs of tarnish or patina. I live in the UK, maybe the climate of a country will have an effect on this? Only time will tell but I couldn't be happier with the look of the watch which is truly outstanding!! Regards from Manchester 🇬🇧..
