Can i use potting mix? Homemade with peat moss compost and perlite?
@ibiubu99 Peat Moss has a tendency to do one of two things...if you are in an area that has high rainfall or you water heavily, peat moss can hold allot of water against the root system thereby leaving the peach with wet feet. If in a very dry area or you cant water often, when the peat moss dries out it can become very hydrophobic causing water to shed away from the roots which is also bad. Compost and perlite will help mitigate this issue some so just take care that your peat content is not too high. I would go no higher than 25% peat in the mix.
Looking beautiful 😍
@lorismitherman8744 Thank You!
It is seriously no joke, it is so easy. I started with 8 loads earlier this year and didn't have time to get to spread out the last 2. Now it is cooler, I'm out digging into the last two piles and they are black gold! Happy find. Can't get enough of this stuff. Nice video.
Definitely makes a huge difference!
Can we talk about the beard?? 😮
@@homepro23 Sure! By all means!
So cute!
@@lorismitherman8744 Very!
That hen is worth her weight in gold.
@dougmarkham1919 She is a good one for raising chicks, that's for sure!
My mother-in-law roots cuttings from tomatos and eggplants all year to get more instantly producing plants.
@claytonblank1759 Go Mother-in-Law!!! Also can be done with many other vegetables and fruits to increase production without waiting on new seeds to germinate. Works great to root a few cuttings in the fall to replant in the Spring!
I have a muscadine, but it was here when we bought the property and I have no idea what type it is. They are good though.
@@claytonblank1759 Love me some muscadine!
Your mom should remember this - Every year Grandma Bellon would buy chicks at the local feed store. She had a pen in the house where she would keep them until they were old enough to put out in the coop. We lived day and night with the peep peeps of the chicks - awesome memories❤
She has mentioned it! We love the chicks...I keep getting myself in trouble with the incubator...I can't stop hatching!!! 😅
I can’t believe you ate that 😮
@@lorismitherman8744 😁Other than the heat, it was delicious! Sweet and almost dessert like.
I got 2 chip drops in tonopah AZs sonoran desert. It came with 120+ mesquite, 15+ palms, palo verde and i planted moringa and castor bean. It was feet deep in parts and is dissapearing quick but ive greened up my property so much in this last year. I threw my woodchips on the lowest point of ny property where it was flood zoned and im leeching off of it to expand.
@@PachamamaGLORY That is awesome!!!
Why castor bean plants? I thought they were highly invasive. I have a seedling peach to plant…glad I ran across your video!
@sandrabeck8788 Castor is excellent at creating a fast micro-climate and in areas where winter gets cold enough to kill them, they never have a chance to spread very far. Plus the wood on Castor is so soft due to their fast growth, that they are easily removed without much effort. Allot of times they are demonized due to their toxicity, however unless one plans to eat a handful of the beans or have pets that will eat the beans, there really isn't much to worry about in comparison to other garden plants such as Oleander, Nightshade, Foxgloves, Hemlock, Belladonna, etc... Glad you enjoyed the video and hope it helped!!!
When is the best time to do this? Is it necessary to cover?
@ruthavila7663 Absolute best time to do this is when crepe myrtle are flushing out new growth and before they have begun to flower, but myrtle is pretty easy to get growing from cutting at most other times as well. You do not necessarily have to cover the cuttings as long as you can stay on top of keeping the moisture level correct and prevent the cuttings from drying out before they root.
@@TheMarkhamGardens thank you so much for this helpful info and for replying so fast.
@ruthavila7663 Your very welcome!
Great beard!!
@@teresathomley3703 Thank you!
Wow friend
Wow indeed!
@@TheMarkhamGardens Indeed.
They can be deadly!!!!
@user-xd6bv4dl9u Well yes if you plan to eat a handful of the seeds/ beans... Or if someone makes ricin out of the beans and poisons you...other than that...not so much to humans. I would keep pets away from them, but I have seen rats and squirrels eat the beans with no apparent issue.
Personally I thought the finger directional pointing was extraordinaire!!! Amazed at the fast growth in spite of the heat.
@dougmarkham1919 That's because that finger pointing is probably genetic...😉
I have a double petite knockout rose. Container plant.
They may not be as showy, but we do love our petite knockouts!

Beautiful location.
Thank you! We love it!
Do you propagate mimosa trees the same way?
@rebeccadees2300 Yes you can , however I use a 4" to 6" piece when propagating mimosa instead of the tray method.
Is the white crepe Myrtle the one that is so fragrant? I have some old crepe Myrtle trees that have the purple flowers but they aren’t fragrant. Thank you for your video and tutorial.
@@rebeccadees2300 Yes, there are a few varieties that are fragrant, but Natchez is one of them.
Where in southeast Texas are you located? I live in that area also.
@@rebeccadees2300 The Markham Gardens is located in Colmesneil.
@@TheMarkhamGardens I’m in the Mid County area.
Our local electrical company has been running crews bush hogging and branch/tree removal maintenance along miles and miles of power lines. They're now down my road and happily agreed to drop as many loads of wood chips as they want on my property suspiciously close to my garden! Oh happy day! Loads are already decomposing after an hour sitting in a 7'high x 15' mound. It's hot already! 😂
@ddouglas3687 That is awesome!!! Make sure to wear a mask/ respirator when moving the mulch...it will build molds and such fast and that stuff is a powerful neurotoxin.
Absolutely fantasticly fabulous 👍

"They never make it to the house"!!! love it.
This bowl made it to the house, but was empty by the next morning! 😁
Cool video. How long does it take to root them and transplant them into a larger pot? I've seen some amazing dark purple ones on a main street near my neighborhood. I can get some cuttings off of it, but I was wondering how long it takes to get roots? Thx!
Thanks! It takes about 1 month for the cuttings to take root well. At that point, you can transplant them to trade 1 gallon pots. I usually allow them to grow out in the 1 gallons for a good few months before transplanting into the ground. Thanks for asking! Good luck on your variety collecting!
The best video! Love how informational your tricks and tips are!❤

You asked for recommendations and even nasty ones, so I am here to say you should build a grotto around your pond. Oh and also, where is the arch tunnel going to banana pit? I wanna see a tunnel! Also, where can I get the white sage? I seriously want to get that for burning it
A cave might...just might be a little much...lol! Arch tunnel is still in the plans! As far as the sage, I'm really not sure where you could get it there. This one was gifted by a neighbor.
