    How do you correct mistakes 1) if the paint is still wet and 2) if you notice when the paint has dried ? Thanks Jan

    • @printsandpaintsbymarcy
      @printsandpaintsbymarcy 3 дні тому

      Hi Jan! Thanks for reaching out! So two things, if the paint is wet, I like to use small dampen qtips and wipe off the area you made your mistake. If it has dried already and you notice it, you can do the same procedure with a damp qtip and just push around the paint. it should come up eventually. Or if its a plump dot that has dried i take something sharp and peel up the dot, then apply my base coat color over any left over paint that didnt come off. Its best to catch it right away. Maybe I'll make a future video about fixing mistakes.

    OMG! What a wonderful video, game changer. I wish I would have seen this sooner. I originally bought your ruler before I started following your channel. When I started a year ago doing mandala dotting I orderd my tools from HDC and your ruler popped up and I went ahead and ordered it. I have carpel tunnel and trying to use those protractors was hard on me because my hand would cramp up trying to hold them. I was struggling trying to get my ruler to go all around but, now seeing how you can do havlf circles, I'm like "brain fart" how simple is that. So thank you, this is just what I needed. I will buy the rulers in different sizes if you do them. Have a great weekend Marcy. 😃😃😃

    So, with the HARD body paint; you just add a little water to the MICA, then mix it into the HARD body paints? If this is still too thick, do you just keep adding water, or is there something I missed in the section about the mica/ hard body combination??

    • @printsandpaintsbymarcy
      @printsandpaintsbymarcy 23 дні тому

      Yup you are right...With the three ingredients you need a color, binder and vehicle. Your hard body paint is both color and binder combined already, so you need to just add water until you get a smooth consistency. Do not be afraid to add water as needed. Ideally you just don't want your paint so thin is runny or soupy, more like a thin yogurt consistency. 👍👍

    Hi Marcy! You have a very interesting background😀very impressive! You were asking about we viewers became interested in mandala painting so….I started painting in 2021…michele the painter was my inspiration initially and so for a winter I painted along with her for several paintings..I am no kind of an artist…not at all but found myself desperately needing something to keep my mind thinking of other things besides the situation id gotten into….remarried at 54 ( 3rd time) and my beloved father passed in the same year …bought my dads home and living there all the sudden surrounded by not the best memories and a husband who seemed to be so negative about everything that my life was being sucked out of me , I had to keep myself from going into the mental hospital ……( we had been married five yrs at this point) lol…accidentally, I saw people painting mandalas and thought I can maybe do that…and after the one winter of trying to paint pictures I didnt pick up a paintbrush til just this last winter here in michigan…so I started trying the dot painting id seen others do online…using round wood from micheals…and i painted and struggled every day since last nov….ive moved up to buying my own wood and the husband i complained about 😂has done a beautiful job cutting out rounds…..1/2 in thick kind…smoothsll the edges and I have all sizes up to 36 inches buthave only done up to 24 inch so far.i posted some of my mandalas on my fb page just to show them and have several people wanting to buy them. I have not responded as they were not offered as sale items but what else will i do with all of them? Haha…..u serve two purposes for me Marcy…….as a wonderful teacherof mandala art and as an asmr artist that helps me with my anxiety issues……I bet u didnt realize how important u would become to the now 62 yr old retired woman in michigan!😁👍🏻basically in 8 months ive gone fromnot too good to where people want to purchase my work….but ive Been in a back room every single day for hours ( avoiding my dear husband) lol🤦‍♀️😁😆😂he takes really good care of me and Im officially retired and perhaps Isnt the stressful one……..maybe its me…..I watch Demi as well by the way too……..ive never used any stencils but di just get your tear drop shaped stencil. I just love this mandala Marcy….its gorgeous!! Im extremely critical of my own work and perhaps thats why ive not gotten ahold of the people that reached out to me on facebook regarding purchasing my work…I know u said u were that way as well so I feel better ….i have adhd….and i struggle with figuring out how to even open an etsy shop let alone figureing out a pattern in my painting…perhaps when the husband returns from his alaska fishing trip he will set it up….he is very good at such things! Sorry about the lengthy comment!! 🤷‍♀️😂🫣

      Awe my dear Kelly, my friend...Your kind words resonate with me, and make me feel such intense emotions when reading stories from my viewers. There are lots of days I find myself wondering why I am doing this UA-cam channel. Why am I neglecting house work, sometimes I feel my kids, staying up late to edit videos, trying to maintain a creative flow while running a household, wondering if i should've started this channel when everyone was grown up and out of the house and I myself are retired lol. It's hard balancing both, as I am a 43 yr old mom of two, its overwhelming a lot of times, my patience I had in my 20-30s as vanished.. I don't think I ever quite adjusted to not working and being a mom full time, I always craved art and teaching. I'm grateful everyday I have a husband who supports me to where I can do this for myself. But ya know, my mother always told me that reasons happen at certain moments in your life and you shouldn't change them as they are learning lessons and opportunities waiting for you. I have been through a normal roller coaster of life, some was traumatic and some was great. Balancing all I do is way hard some days. Especially when I get heavy slack for things that people just want to be mean about. My husband tells me to just survive it, that certain people can only stomach being a creator on here because people will try to tear you down, jealousy is very real, so you need to not read everything. But of course I can't do that, I'm a very compassionate person and it stings when i get nasty comments, but then there's people like you, who I see now give me purpose.🧡🧡 I can't thank you enough for letting me help you with emotions you may be dealing with, or just needing some inner peace. Please know that it doesn't matter who comes into our lives, we need to take the time to self care. I still struggle with that saying. I struggle with balancing caring for three people in my house and finding the time for me. Painting helps me with that. As I see it helps you too.❤️ And you know what, that's such a fine connection we have. 😊 Boosting peoples moral and confidence is so important in this world, and I feel people don't do it enough. ohhh and to tap real quick into the phrase , I'm not considered an artist...boy that has haunted me my whole life, I've always had these conversations with other friends of mine who also make art, and we all come down to this...There are no rules to art, the meaning of art is such: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. If you are provoking this into someone when they look at your art, then you are the artist, you ARE an Artist and Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise. Now with saying that, I'm gonna go head over Facebook and find my new friends art page. Maybe in the future I can prepare a video on selling mandalas, setting up a shop on Etsy, etc. You take Care of yourself! Remember to find balance in your surrounding life! Much Love

      @@printsandpaintsbymarcythanks Marcy for returning a lovely response to my comment, your not just talented but very kind! 🥹I dont think my fb page has but a couple posts with my work but u will find out of my love of weather and political leanings for sure! Lol😆 a few years ago I bought the tripod and mic and other items needed to do an asmr channel but never made one video….and the reason was alot of not being able to think of what to record( i wouldn’t do just weird tapping on some object😳it had to be something I was actually doing like sorting stones for rock polishing) and there is only so much things I do..not enough to make three videos a week and the MAIN reason was because I was just afraid….afraid of failure but also afraid of the comment section..I am so sensitive and im like you Marcy, I would have to read them. A nasty comment or harsh critical comment would hurt me deeply and id think about it over and over and eventually just have physical effects from it…..my reaction is way over board but its just who I am ….and im alot better than I used to be!( no wonder im on my third marriage!) so that is the reason I decided to not do it….but im definitely growing up emotionally …i was emotionally about 17 well into my fifties…i was stunted because of that adhd but of course had no idea as i was not paying attention!😆my current husband said a few things to me that set me off thinking and looking into myself and wow…..I went about five years of change and i morphed into a different person it seemed…I acted and looked like how in the charlten Heston movie the Ten Commandments looked aand acted after he went up to that mountain!😂🫨u wouldnt hardly recognize me……it was a stressful time and during that process of extreme learning a negative comment could have pushed me over the edge….I kind of kid about it jere but it wasnt funny….the good thing that came of that self examination was I see things …I see things and realize things I never did before…all the sayings…like ignorance is bliss…ect are true….i was much happier when I was ignorant but I wasnt put here to just stay dumb forever…nope! So your mom is correct..things and or people come into your life for a reason….! A lady has an asmr channel and she was struggling with her comment section and her husband had said just ignore it…but she just couldnt and was very torn up by some of the nasty stuff and there is some nasty people in the world…..the internet has definitely groomed this to an artform pretty much….like people just would say things on her comment section like pointing out she didnt have on plastic gloves while she made a sandwich and how they would never do that blah blah on and on.. so she ended up kinda getting a tougher skin but it took four years! Anyway, just know Marcy, im one of your biggest fans and you have put so much positive in my life!! Now im going to rewatch u make the bee and lilac mandal again…..( 17th viewing 🫣) take care!😁😁😁

Do you seal the board before painting black? I use Deco Art Multi-Purpose Sealer on the other wood I do. I'm not even sure if that's a good sealer or not. Thanks again Marcy for another fun and beautiful video. Have a great weekend.😊

      Hello! Thank you for watching! Honestly I never seal in my MDf. I feel the thickness out weighs the possibility of warping. If the MDf is 1/8inch thin however i would recommend sealing it first. I normally use 1/4-1/2 inch thickness on mine.

    Being new to this art form I really appreciated this beginner level project. I look forward to your new series for beginners, even though I am a senior (73) and I am retired. Thank you for creating this new series. Barbara

    Hi,Marcy, do u always add the flow aid to your paint? I always thought the decoart americana didnt need to be thinned…? Why are u adding it? Should i,be adding it? Ive bought some medium that thickens paint and it gives my brush strokes more dimension…just a pea sized amount in a 5 ml container does the trick…i,dont always do it but its neat sometimes!

      Hi Kelly, Yes, I usually add floetrol to my paint. Some may say you don't need to add to decoart, however my personal preference i find a better consistency when i use floetrol vs. when i use out of the bottle. It depends on the air climate you are in too. I work in an area where it's very dry, so my paint tends to start drying within 5 mins, the flow aid helps prolong that. Humidity can effect that too. So it really depends on where you live. I normally don't use thick hard body paints that need thinning. Great advice for giving dimensional look to your brushstrokes.

    IF you do choose a rock from the garden, be sure to find a SMOOTH surface to paint on. Today, I started a project. It's not off to a good start. Plus, you need to practice before you begin. You all make it look so easy. But I'm going to keep at it.

    Very helpful except you didnt answer the one question I had which is what is the ratio for thickening /gel medium. I couldnt find it in the description or maybe I didnt know where to look! But I loved the video and will watch more!

    • @printsandpaintsbymarcy

      using gel medium, my go to ratio is 1 part paint to 1/4 part gel medium. if its too thick you'll come out with peaked paint, it needs to be smooth enough to work with. I have another video on making acrylic paints that deals with gel medium too.

    Dear Marcy, thank you for this beautiful video. 🙏🏻 I especially love the yellow design, I really like it (but the others too). Your project is a really nice idea. I like getting to know you better through the videos when you talk about your life. Thank you for your private insights. I love music, but unfortunately I'm not talented myself. I learned the piano as a child, but unfortunately I didn't enjoy it. But I love dancing. Dancing is freedom for me. I've been listening to rock music since I was a teeanger, especially a lot of metal. I'm happy when I hear guitars. I used to love grunge and crossover in the 90s. Do you know Tool? That's one of my favorite bands. And Nine Inch Nails. And Muse. And System of a Down, ... At the moment I like to listen to mantra music while I paint, it calms me down. Even though it's something completely different from metal, I love this music too. I wish you a nice day and send you lots of love from Germany. My private reply will follow soon. 😘
