      The concept seemed very promising by mixing drama, romance and martial arts. The actor/singer Ray J was already well established in the entertainment industry. Perhaps Sunday night was not the best time to broadcast this series. Perhaps the amount of advertising was too low. I know that recent Kobra Kai drama series did incredibly well and had real Karate. The Kung Fu series with actor David Carradine was very good too.

      You're right, it is weird considering that Scooby-Doo is a Hanna-Barbera production which was folded into Warner Brothers and Nickelodeon is a Paramount Pictures television network. On another unrelated note I remember when Cartoon Network broadcast the Scooby-Doo Project which was a spinoff of the Blair Witch Project film. Good times. 😁

Her character Pim Diffy was not the main character of the Phil Of The Future show but it was definitely funny and memorable. Pim definitely got away with things that her brother Phil could not. The character Debbie Berwick played by actress Kay Panabaker was also memorable in my opinion. Kay no longer works in the entertainment industry and she is now a Zookeeper. Regarding the comedy it was so wacky. I know that some classic Disney Channel shows have become criticized due to controversial subjects including drug use and abuse. Thankfully the Phil Of The Future show was free of any of those awful things. I have noticed that those who love the Phil Of The Future show love it to an extreme level. It is part of the Sharp 3T-55 Boombox with built-in television. It is technically a rebrand of the similar General Electric "Road Show" and SEARS micro cassette boomboxes which were available on either silver or anodized black. It can be used independently from the Boombox since it is powered by two AA batteries. It has high forward torque but it suffers regarding recording performance since it tends to equalize the audio input in a negative way affecting the recording volume as well. The playback frequency response is limited as well lacking both low frequency "bass" and high frequency "trebble." It is not one of my favorites which include the Sony M-80 and Olympus SR11 "Roadrunner" which offer respectable playback frequency response and low WOW/Flutter levels even when using type 1 Ferric micro cassettes. It does look very nice though.

      Technically the Grounded For Life sitcom tackled subjects that were tough including but not limited to drugs, sex, infidelity, peer pressure and bullying. Yes, it was in fact a controversial show. I believe that beyond offering entertainment, comedic relief, generating wealth and creating fame television networks, writers, producers and actors have the privilege of teaching the viewers good values. What the character Lily lived through in the show might be something that the viewers might have been going through or went through when they were teenagers. The WB Network believed that this show did not deserve to be cancelled and I respect that very much.

Regarding FOX news personalities including Tucker Carlson they couldn't get any more controversial. I have a theory that the FOX Network disliked the fact that beyond being controversial the Grounded For Life sitcom was wholesome. The Finnerty family loved each other even though they sometimes drove each other mad. The episodes ended on a good note where something good was learned regarding being part of a family. If you really think about it a "perfect family" does not exist.

      The WB Network invested a lot of its time and resources to advertise the What I Like About You show. The production quality was high and the set was later remodeled, the introduction was refreshed and new characters were introduced. It wasn't the most watched show yet it was rerun often and was even included on the WB's Sunday night "Easyview." Amanda Bynes wanted something else to be a part of besides the Nickelodeon Network and The WB Network was acquiring talent from other networks including but not limited to the ABC and FOX Networks. I was convinced to buy the Quasar as my First tape machine by a friend who had one. I now have mine and his old one, neither of them working. And still have Many tapes (though I did throw some of His away a few years ago, and can't play any of them anyway! Sad...wish I could get One working machine cobbled together from these two! It would be fun to see what I recorded so long ago...and transfer everything to something Useful! (Actually...I may have Three of them! I haven't seen them in Years....they are Somewhere in my Garage, so probably rotted away to nothing by now!)

      This format was released years before I was born. It is definitely not my favorite vintage format to use. All of my Quasar VX videotapes are from eBay and what was recorded on them have become my most viewed uploads. It does take some patience and maintenance in order to bring a Quasar VR-1000 VCR running again. I have worked with much older formats including the 1973 Cartrivision format which requires much more patience and maintenance. In my limited experience I have found that the single head system is quite durable since it is rather large compared to Beta, V-Cord2 and VHS. The motor and belt used for rewinding are too small and tend to fail on most machines. Changing the rewind belt is a must. As for the recording color spectrum and resolution performance it is incredibly low. Not as low as Cartrivision but close.

    Toon Disney’s Sneak Peek of Dave the Barbarian (January 1st, 2005)

    • @renegonzalez6755
      @renegonzalez6755 9 днів тому

      I notice some similarities with the Warner Brothers Tiny Toon Adventures animated series from the 90s. Specifically regarding Princess Fang and Dark Lord Chuckles. Something about their loud and generally annoying demeanor remind me of the characters Elmyra Duff and Montana Max. Mixing medieval times and mythical monsters with animations and comedy was something new. Yet it did feel out of place compared to the other shows broadcast on both Disney Channel and the ABC Network. It was definitely taylored for elementary school aged kids but only an adult could appreciate the medieval parodies. Perhaps Cartoon Network would have been a better home for Dave The Barbarian. The Hysteria! and Animaniacs animated series broadcast on the WB Network were enjoyable by both kids and adults. Dave The Barbarian really should have had a similar broadcast audience.

      It is wonderful how music can become part of our memories. It really is a nice commercial. It was broadcast very often in the early 2000s yet it never felt boring. In a way it brought comfort due to its positive message similar to the classic Kellogg's Special K cereal commercials. The "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini" song by Brian Hyland was already considered a classic decades before it was featured on this commercial. My middle school aged cousins would sing along with the commercial. Oh, and the actress looks very cute but that's just my own opinion.

      I did not watch many episodes of Grounded For Life but I did understand the concept of living with an imperfect family and imperfect world in general. We all make mistakes and sugar coating things only makes them worse. In a way shows like Grounded For Life seemed more realistic and relatable thanks to their imperfections. The character Sean had a very tough time being both a husband and a father. Life is tough especially for men. The poor guy couldn't take a break and he was blamed for so many things.

    There was an in-character promotion for What A Girl Wants during one commercial break of What I Like About You that featured Holly (Amanda Bynes) and Gary (Wesley Jonathan) passing by a "What a Girl Wants" poster. Gary says something like the girl in the poster resembles Holly! Do you have this promo and is it possible to share it here on your youtube?

    • @renegonzalez6755
      @renegonzalez6755 13 днів тому

      I might. If I have it I will definitely upload it. I wonder if it was the same Amanda Bynes life-size poster that was made available on the Network's website via a downloadable PDF file. The promotions that were broadcast by the former WB Network were wonderful. Do you remember the "Watch The Frog" promos? They were short 10 second mock episodes of WB shows where one of the character would point to something off screen while stating "Hey, watch the Frog." I believe this was a way to reference the network's mascot Morgan J Frog of the Warner Brothers Looney Tunes universe.

      It was a Dan Schneider co-creation which were known to be heavily advertised. The commercials shown during the commercial breaks were wonderful and I love leaving the WB Network voice announcements intact. In a way this sponsorship concept reminds me of the classic "soap operas" which were known to be sponsored by clothes detergent and dish washing solutions. Amanda Byne's fame was growing at a fast pace back in 2003. Multiple contests were made regarding the What I Like About You Show which I plan to help archive.

      There is a lot of content that was broadcast by the former WB Network that has yet to be made available on UA-cam. Last night I noticed a commercial by Leslie Acoca who is the President of the National Girls Health and Justice Institute. Leslie would later beginning in 2007 develop and pilot the Girls Health Screen. This became the nation’s first evidence-based medical screen designed exclusively for girls in the juvenile justice system. The commercial focuses on California statistics regarding young women who are tried in the legal system. This commercial was broadcast multiple times back in the year 2003 and I feel obligated to upload it. She looked very different back in 2003.
