We did the self guided tour of Gettysburg a few years ago. We were totally unprepared. The place is huge! There's so much to see that we rushed around. We plan to go again but maybe pay for guided tour and get there earlier.
Gettysburg is huge! Like you said, there is so much to see! You can head to the visitors center on the battlefield and they will help you check out all the must see places! Also, a weekend (if not more) is needed if you want to check out the battlefield and all the buildings. In the square, there are a lot of shops to check out as well!
Yo happy new year shared out in you tube community. ⌚
Racist as town yes iim from md
Lived in Hollidaysburg for 25 years and worked in Altoona at Gables and went to PSU Altoona moved to Lancaster haven't been back since 2012 sorry I don't miss it all just never changed and now seems so decayed. People were great though.
I agree, there are areas that are so run down looking. But others do look good! It's a trip down memory lane going back and visiting, but I'd never live there again!
Anyone here remember riding 'The Circuit' every Friday and Saturday night?😂

Thank you!
@ontheroadagain1 More than welcome.
a proper sh!thole, can't wait to leave.
From a southerner that had multiple great x2 gdads fight , n some die under the confederacy… it nice to see the flag being flown out of respect for the men that, whose only fault was being born south of an imaginary line, sacrificed all to. Im glad the Union stayed together, I am. It makes us a stronger country thru the world wars and the super power of today. But when ppl openly curse and demonize a entire half of the country and tell them their ancestors were evil. while most being just as poor as slaves themselves, is a unjust telling of the entire nuance of the situation
I agree!
Horseshit
😂😂😂 i fell uncomfortable
great footage. nice parade.
It was! Little chilly today though
Idiot parade in real time
Sherman on top
Okkk! 😂
Great place to grow up; still a great place to be.
It is a very nice town.
Wow beautiful place awesome 👍👍💕
It's a great little town!
@ontheroadagain1 very cool
Shared out again awesome 👌.
Awesome thank you!
@ontheroadagain1 more than welcome I hope all is well 👍 🙏
@cornwallparanormalresearch2378 we're doing great!! A little busy with life, so videos have been lacking. Hope you are doing well!
Cool beans 😎 👌.
@@ontheroadagain1 yo all good will keep sharing you guys out. And just take it easy 😌 J green
Beautiful!
I remember my mom telling me back in the day the lights of Altoona used to spell out Altoona from Wopsy. We used to go there all the time and used to stop to fill jugs from the spring.
I remember that as welll! We used to stop by the horse curve and fill up the water jugs.
@@ontheroadagain1 different place altogether. Horseshoe curve is on a different mountain.
@@pegallen6983 correct, I was just saying.
@@ontheroadagain1 no worries
Born and raised in Altoona PA! Lived there until 2010 when I moved to the United Kingdom. Haven't been home since 2015. This is bringing back a lot of memories. Ten seconds in and I was like I know where that is the Keith football field should be coming up on the right and there it appeared. I'm hoping you make it to the other side of the tracks as that was my old stomping ground 2nd Ave and 20th street. Mom passed in 2021 but dad is still in the old house with the rest of the family
I grew up in Altoona as well, left in 2002. We've been back to visit a few times. Not a lot lot seems to have changed (except the new shopping center with Boscov's, they tore down both junior high schools and turned Mercy into senior housing). I grew up near the Jaffa , so it was fun going back. Some neighborhoods look terrible now!
@@ontheroadagain1 Keith is still there it is apartments now. I was so mad when they tore down Roosevelt.
@pegallen6983 yes, I went to Roosevelt. First time going to visit, I said what happened to Roosevelt! 😆
Like and shared out in community awesome 👌.
But this west Baltimore 😮😮😢😢😢😅😅
I was really hoping you would have took the north I-99 on ramp, then on to 17th Steet exit. At the top of that exit ramp you would come around to see a spectacular panoramic view of Altoona and the surrounding mountains. You could have then followed 17th Street right to another panoramic view of the city skyline!
I didn't even think of that, it would have been a great drive. I was at the shopping center a few times too
@@ontheroadagain1 - Do you mean the Logantowne Centre? That view I described can be had up there.
@michaelnazaruk4100 I'm not sure what the shopping center is called, but there's a Boscov's
@@ontheroadagain1 - Yes, that is Logantown Centre where Boscovs is at.
I have only been there once. cool town. nice video. Have you been to the Gettysburg Museum of Haunted Objects ? I walked past it saturday. your gettysburg videos are always cool also. I had fun watching the horse shoe curve and the mall in Altoona also when I visited. I notice no new videos on paranormal channel in months. are they still doing haunted investigations?
Altoona is a cool historic town, but good jobs are hard to come by. Yes, we are still doing investigations, just haven't had time to edit and post videos... they'll be out soon!
Nice to see my home town.
I visited Altoona two times in the 1980`s from Reading. Altoona seems to be less rundown now then it was back then. I wish that you would have driven by the stately domed building ( I think it`s the Court House ).
I grew up there. We were back this trip to visit, we moved out of state in 2002. We drove pretty much everywhere in Altoona, including downtown. I didn't upload that video, I'll check to see if I still have it. Some areas look a lot worse than when we lived there, but there were other areas that looked better.
I think you mean the cathedral not the court house. The court house is in Hollidaysburg
Awesome in your video 20:30/27:53 the brick house on the left I grew up there in Mt.Holly PA so cool to see you drive past it
508: UVA Club. My wedding reception was held there. Place was totally run by the Mob.

No worries hope all is well 👍 😊
I grew up in Altoona, moved away in 2003, and haven't been back since 2016. This was a great tour of my hometown !
I moved away in 2001, we've been back a few times. But it doesn't seem like a lot has changed(besides Mercy, Keith and Roosevelt all becoming senior housing)
Countryside looks similar to Eastern and Southeastern Ohio
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO, i GREW UP IN BRISBIN PA.

@@ontheroadagain1we are good. 👍
I moved away from Altoona over 30 years ago, it amazes me how many of the old landmarks are still there looking just like they did back then
We moved away 20 years ago. I was speaking with the girl at the hotel and she said not much has changed, huh?
My brother - in - law Steve and his family are from Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Loved tour since my 2 years living in Hollidaysburg. & working at YOBCO, Altoona in early 80’s were v memorable 💞
Thank you so much! I bet a lot has changed
The two things you didn't check out was the court house and most of all fort chambers park. Liked the video.
it wasn't a planned video, but next time we're in the area I'll definitely check out more of Fort Chambers Park & the courthouse!
Wonderful drive along!
Cities should as clean and safe as towns. Local politicians have responsibility to keep places safe. A nice place to relax. Like 1
