Very deep conversation!
Thanks for the feedback..Chandrika was a wonderful guest…We try to dig deep and find the real person and the story of their lives..Chandrika didn’t shy away from any of this…We were very honoured to have her on the show…x
Tommy is a musical genius transcends all aspects of music. He’s had a difficult life and struggled with some substance abuse but I think he gained some control of it and seems to now being a happy marriage. I’m happy for him. It’s not easy being someone like that the driven quality of his music, his knee to be playing it all over the world it’s not easy to have relationships that survive that but it looks like he has so that’s wonderful.
Being 61, I started playing guitar during the early days of the 1st wave of the shredder generation. Now I really can’t stand a lot of it these days. All the young players do it. I’m more into the slower players of my generation. Greg Howe is one of the early shredders I’d heard of in the late 80s Howe, Vernon Reid, VH, Holdsworth , Vai, and Mcalpine were flavors of the day that I gravitated to back then. Greg is one of the few that I currently still like probably because of the jazz fusion connection in his music. Never plays a bad note. Extremely underrated, extremely talented.
Beautiful intervju! Love to hear the old stories with Chet Atkins <3
That's tragic about your relationship's with your Dad's which in my case I have never had a good relationship with my Mother!! My Dad & myself had a fantastic relationship & we were more friends & it was NEVER that typical Father/Son relationship!!! My Dad passed away 3 years ago which has been like loosing half of me!!! I have no children & my true love of my life was killed 27 years ago in a car accident! The guitar has been my life long companion & although I am a rock electric player & one of a small few who are EMG & Floyd Rose with Marshall's that is my voice!!!! But music has healing powers & I have been dipping my toes into acoustic music & it has added too my passion!!!!!
Happy to see you Greg ❤
What a fun interview... so much that I could relate to. Thank you for doing this!
Well, if one needs weed to play at all, well I see a BIG problem there!
Tommy is completely wrong..I dont think there is 1single person in the world that cant stand his playing..
Nice🤙🏾
For taking the WRONG drugs. Lots of coke in the band.
Mr Chambers is from the only school. The school that not just get you the gig and get you the career.
Love this, great interview.
The groove he played at the end was “So You Say” from John Scofield’s Blue Matter album
Great interview
Thank you so much for this! Absolute legend. Music is the best.
What I like the most about this interview is actually not Tommy's music or his Guitar playing techniques, But his reflection on his relationship with his dad, and how that motivated him to be a better father.
Many many years ago, my wife and I saw Joe Bonamassa at the Tralf in Buffalo New York. Keep in mind at the time he was relatively unknown. We got there an hour and a half early because it was general seating ,my wife thought I was nuts. It was a small venue. We sat at a cocktail table around 20 feet from the stage and we were just blown away! Talk about upfront and personal! It was a full house and his parents were in the crowd who he acknowledged during the show ,years later after his career took off we saw him at much larger venues, and to this day he still puts on an absolutely fabulous show! he keeps getting better Year, after year and he is so gracious and humble simply an amazing talent.
Thank you Tommy for taking my stress level down as well ❤
Furch guitars rock indeed!
nice video, great guitarist
Kids these days. Hot take.
I remember a drum clinic in Wellington New Zealand where Dennis was asked what he thought of Slayer?! He very politely said "I'm sorry I'm not familiar with that gentleman" LOL - IOW he answered what could have been seen as a sleight against his field of music and all the great artists he'd worked with, by a simple comment. That was a lesson right there!
This is a very good person with an unbelievable talent fantastic guitarist fantastic band OMG ty Jay from UA-cam loves you all May God bless and guide you all
Great interview!!!
wow... the wig, and having to wear it for the gig
Greg Howe is awesome.. been a fan since shrapnel record's 👍👍
That groove at the end there is from Sco's " So you Say". Awesome interview!
Dennis is a awesome player he is a legend
He's reffering to Jared Spears in 38:40.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Proud Baltimorean
Nirvana was great, "Grunge" is the term Dennis was looking for. I hear the Pixies when I listen to Nirvana
Really great unit.
World Class Dennis Chambers!
Love this interview!!!!!!🤘🏾
Without Greg Howe, there is NO Guthrie
the guitar at the end has a beautiful warm tone
Greg Howe is one of my favorite guitar players. Listened to his albums, especially to his early ones. Will search for his new releases too, nice video. 🎸👍
Absolutely my Brotha !!!!!🎉❤
Nice interview!
This was a great interview. Thanks.
Thanks for doing this interview, it was heartwarming getting to hear about his journey. Actually it had me saying, "no way!" several times because a lot of his starting attitudes and perspectives were exactly the same as mine almost 20 years ago starting out. It seems that the best guitarists are often very humble and soft-spoken. He, Shawn Lane, and Scott Henderson are my top 3 of all guitarists hands down.
What a band Hope they swing by Philly again soon !!
Bello/Magnifico.🙏✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️👑
If he thinks sampling isnt music, then just think about AI generated music.
I guess AI that would be regurgitated.music
I can't stand sampling but have heard some ai music I thought was really good.
I used to shop at the same music store as Tommy. Ron Leigh’s in Highett, Melbourne. That doesn’t really change the fact that no matter how talented Tommy is, it’s still a pretty boring guitarist.
lets see you play then
@ I’m not anywhere as good, I don’t claim to be. Just because Tommy is better than me doesn’t make him in the least be interesting. It’s Dave Matthews band/Hootie and the blowfish style, bland, safe music.
Ron Leigh's is awesome. Great guy and shop!
Dennis Chambers, a legend to many 🙏🏻
I think Frescia Belmar is the bassist he's talking about - would love to see those guys live!
Cool interview ❤
