DesBrisay Museum Bridgewater

We are one of the oldest community museums in Canada, focusing on Bridgewater, Nova Scotia's history. In total we have over 8000 artifacts that help document the history of Bridgewater. Our building was built specifically to house Judge DesBrisay's collection and opened in 1969. We operate year round, with reduced visitor hours during the winter months. We are situated in Woodland Gardens, with a duck pond, walking trails, wooded area and grassy parkland.

This exhibit by Lunenburg-based artist Su Rogers, focused on the often invisible work of Nova Scotia women in fishing industry, working both as packers and fishers. The exhibit ran from August 17th until October 15th, 2024.

The Every Child Matters exhibit focuses on honoring, supporting, and creating awareness for the Residential School survivors, their families, and the missing children. A project of the Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia in collaboration with Mi'kmaq artists Tara Francis, Gerald Gloade, Phyllis Grant, Lorne Julien, and Noella Moore.
