Oh lord thank god I left the Bronx when I was a young kid I was born in the Bronx in 1988 but it wasn't like this back then, and then I move to New Jersey when I was a kid and I been living here in New Jersey ever since so I guess I was rise in NJ thanks to the lord..

It’s far from apocalyptic. It’s probably the poorest district in the Bronx . But don’t be fooled. Many people you walk by are far from poor. It used to be called the hub. Watch some old videos of “the third avenue EL” and you’ll realize that an elevated train used to darken that whole area. They would’ve jacked you for your camera/phone in the 70s. It was super dangerous back then. I got stories that would blow your mind about the places you film in the Bronx. Here’s how the historical layers played out. The Jews dominated the borough first. (Second largest Jewish population in the world at one time.) Then came Blacks. Then that particular area was dominated by Puerto Ricans. Italians, Irish were in smaller groups. Everybody’s poor when they get there. Then they move up and out. Grand Concourse? Forget it. Jewish from top to bottom. You are in the true south Bronx. Which if you headed north on third Ave would run to the cross Bronx expressway. After that you’re in the north Bronx. I see a totally different thing than you guys see when watching these videos. The memories be crazy. I’m a true son of the Bronx.

Grew up on Burnside and Creston Avenue. Grew up walking up and down the Grand Concourse!! Have since moved to Texas (10 years ago). I miss it for the variety, but could never live there again.

Remember that law where you get arrested for being drunk in public? They need to build a jail for all the drug addicts when they f'k whole neighborhoods up like this. Try going over 137 St Alexander Ave near the Mitchell projects. There are loads of people who help you out.
