how would you do this on yourself?
lol! I don’t think I’d try this on myself. Much easier on a client. I would need a few extra arms 😂
Why are they called magnetic? Thanks for the video!
The water on the hair causes it to stick to the rollers.
Hi! I’ve been wanting to get a tight spiral perm on my straight long hair would that be possible? I would also like to ask if you recommend any good salons in Ontario that you may know of for perms?
A spiral or piggyback perm would work on long hair. Depending on the type of curl you’re looking for there are other options too… like wrapping on soft bender rods. I don’t have any connections in Ontario but I’m pretty sure you’ll find a stylist who is experienced in texture services. Thanks for watching.
Hi , what the name of the comb?
It’s a Wahl flat top comb.
😂I thought you were going to give recipe to shampoo
I planning to another time.
Happy thanksgiving
Oh my…I am melting while watching…🫠🥱😴it’s not boring it’s amazing
Thank you so much
This video helped me out a lot
I’m so glad! Thanks so much.
I haven’t had a perm since the early 90’s when all hairdressers knew how to do a perm. It makes me nervous about finding one that has actually been taught how to do one like they were done back then.
Very nice
Thanks
Omg best tutorial I've ever seen 😊.
Yay! Thank you!
Love this! Do you charge extra for this treatment? My bowl only allows side and I feel it’s harder to do this. Hope to hear any suggestions.
Yes. We charge extra for this service. It’s definitely more challenging from the side as it tends to be not quite as comfortable for the client…. Or for the stylist. However I used a side sink for years and I still did many of the same techniques but it’s just not as comfortable. I did another shampooing video and I showed techniques from the side as well. The link is on this video. Something I tried that clients liked from a side sink was a dry hot towel on their neck during the shampoo service. It relaxes the client to allow you to spend a little longer on the massage. You can even replace the hot towel when it starts to cool. It’s a nice touch. I’ve also seen stylists use a footstool for clients to put their feet up. This takes a lot of pressure off of their back and neck. Hope this helps. Thanks for your question and thanks for watching. ❤️
I was googling and I found attachments for sinks that have a head and neck support. This may be a great option. I’m not sure if they fit all sinks but it may be worth looking into.
@@AmysHairLabthank you for sharing!!! I would love to do add to my services.
Very happy I found this video great explanation much appreciated
What haircuts would you suggest for an oval face (guy) short and long both
Well an oval face can wear pretty much anything. If there are features you want to accentuate you can keep it tight on the sides. More hair on the sides will widen out the face…. This applies to facial hair too. Having a fringe is pretty popular right now… I did this cut on my son. If you don’t mind styling your hair, this is a great cut. If you aren’t into styling, keep it a little shorter on top. I recommend using shears on top even if you cut it short… it gives more movement and you’ll have a style instead of using clippers… it looks more buzz. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
@@AmysHairLab well, mine is like a fringe only but shorter on sides, I got #0 last time it's bit grown now and I want to have some change also I would like to try buzz someday, would that suit my face? idk
Y’all are such a joy to watch👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Wdym?
Is this technique possible with a skin fade as well or more so for working your way up from a number 1 on the sides as the shortest length? Thanks for including both male and female hair cutting tips on your channel!
Yes! These techniques you can apply to all your fades. The principles are the same just different lengths. Thanks so much for watching. ❤️
Thank you
As a hairdresser since 1985, in England, this is a great video for people to understand and follow. 👏🤗💕🙏
Thank you so much!

You’re welcome.
Wonderful information ❤️ thank you for sharing your expertise.
Thank you very much ❤❤❤
Great advice that can be used in every industry!!
Just what I needed to know. Thanks!
Thank you for explaining why you placed the rods in different directions. It helps to understand the reasoning behind what you do.
Again great video….beautiful model ❤💐
Thank you again❤️
Hey great video I got one question do you got IG or X `?
I actually don’t have either. I’m just on you tube… for now.
Beautiful! Congratulations to Zoe!🎉🎉🎉
Thank you! We are so proud of her❤️ I’ll pass along your congratulations.
So pretty! Amy, next time you curl her hair with the wand try a tip I saw years ago at a hairshow. Try twisting the hair as you wrap. Hold the hair, look at your watch then twist to look at your wrist and wrap the hair around the wand, continue doing this until all of hair is wrapped around the wand. Game changer, curls are amazing.
Thanks for the tip! So many ways to use the same tool. I like to twist the hair too.. I’ll do that next time 😘
I love this❤
Thank you. ❤️
Totally yay! And of course the bombshell with the gorgeous eyes don’t hurt😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻🌷
I thought so too.
Love this technique Thanks
Glad you like it! Thanks so much.
Great technique! Beautiful young lady and her haircut is very flattering!
Thank you so much! I love this technique too.
Perfect is right. What a beautiful model!❤
Love watching your videos…so informative….yet I am so uneducated as to certain hair regiments….i understand y’all say don’t wash hair everyday…but we fix our hair everyday by putting on products as well as blow dry and hot iron or hot rollers….so which one is worse the stress of all that heat and product or washing and conditioning every day yet not using much product nor using all the heat electronics???
That’s a great question! Using minimal heat is certainly ideal so letting hair air dry is a great way to do that. However hair and skin have a pH of around 5 and water has a pH of 7. Because water is more alkaline it can strip the scalp of its natural oils and cause the hair to dry out over time. If you have an oily scalp and hair then washing it everyday is necessary but if it’s dry… it is lacking oils so going longer between shampoos is a good idea. Going too long between shampoos however can cause too much oil to build up…. Which is a whole other issue. I don’t really know if there’s a better option… washing everyday or hot tools every day. I think we just need to be wise with our product choices and heat settings. Use shampoos and conditioners that have a pH that close to your hairs pH. Use leave in products that protect it from heat damage. Keep your hot tools at no higher than 350 degrees. And know your own hair…. If it feels like you should wash it… then wash it! This was a great question. Thanks so much for watching. ❤️

You are a great instructor! If my client has long hair, do the first two rods on the mohawk section go forward as well?
Thanks so much! If the hair is long you can wrap them all back if you want… if the hair is really long you might consider a piggy back or spiral wrap. I have done videos on those too if you’d like a reference. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do❤️
I am flabbergasted 😮😮😮you are truly an anomaly…..we need more hairstylist such as yourself🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤Be Blessed

Thank you so much for your encouragement. ❤️
This tutorial is great!! When would you choose this over the wefts you sew in?
Good question. Some people do wefts… tape and /or sew in at the bottom and middle and add the I tip closer to the top and sides for more movement and flexibility. I do recommend using the i tip on strong hair. If the hair is fragile the tension of the bead can cause breakage. Singe side tape or Fusion are other options. I’ll be doing a video on the fusion soon as well. Thanks so much for watching! Hope this helps.
didn't show us how it turned out
The technique can be used on anyone but the products you choose will vary. You will need to customize this to your client. Try it on different lengths of hair with no chemicals and see the different variations of looks you can achieve. Thanks for watching!
