    Hi! I’ve been wanting to get a tight spiral perm on my straight long hair would that be possible? I would also like to ask if you recommend any good salons in Ontario that you may know of for perms?

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab 2 дні тому

      A spiral or piggyback perm would work on long hair. Depending on the type of curl you’re looking for there are other options too… like wrapping on soft bender rods. I don’t have any connections in Ontario but I’m pretty sure you’ll find a stylist who is experienced in texture services. Thanks for watching.

    I haven’t had a perm since the early 90’s when all hairdressers knew how to do a perm. It makes me nervous about finding one that has actually been taught how to do one like they were done back then.

    Love this! Do you charge extra for this treatment? My bowl only allows side and I feel it’s harder to do this. Hope to hear any suggestions.

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab 28 днів тому

      Yes. We charge extra for this service. It’s definitely more challenging from the side as it tends to be not quite as comfortable for the client…. Or for the stylist. However I used a side sink for years and I still did many of the same techniques but it’s just not as comfortable. I did another shampooing video and I showed techniques from the side as well. The link is on this video. Something I tried that clients liked from a side sink was a dry hot towel on their neck during the shampoo service. It relaxes the client to allow you to spend a little longer on the massage. You can even replace the hot towel when it starts to cool. It’s a nice touch. I’ve also seen stylists use a footstool for clients to put their feet up. This takes a lot of pressure off of their back and neck. Hope this helps. Thanks for your question and thanks for watching. ❤️

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab 28 днів тому

      I was googling and I found attachments for sinks that have a head and neck support. This may be a great option. I’m not sure if they fit all sinks but it may be worth looking into.

    What haircuts would you suggest for an oval face (guy) short and long both

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab Місяць тому

      Well an oval face can wear pretty much anything. If there are features you want to accentuate you can keep it tight on the sides. More hair on the sides will widen out the face…. This applies to facial hair too. Having a fringe is pretty popular right now… I did this cut on my son. If you don’t mind styling your hair, this is a great cut. If you aren’t into styling, keep it a little shorter on top. I recommend using shears on top even if you cut it short… it gives more movement and you’ll have a style instead of using clippers… it looks more buzz. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    So pretty! Amy, next time you curl her hair with the wand try a tip I saw years ago at a hairshow. Try twisting the hair as you wrap. Hold the hair, look at your watch then twist to look at your wrist and wrap the hair around the wand, continue doing this until all of hair is wrapped around the wand. Game changer, curls are amazing.

    Love watching your videos…so informative….yet I am so uneducated as to certain hair regiments….i understand y’all say don’t wash hair everyday…but we fix our hair everyday by putting on products as well as blow dry and hot iron or hot rollers….so which one is worse the stress of all that heat and product or washing and conditioning every day yet not using much product nor using all the heat electronics???

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab 3 місяці тому

      That’s a great question! Using minimal heat is certainly ideal so letting hair air dry is a great way to do that. However hair and skin have a pH of around 5 and water has a pH of 7. Because water is more alkaline it can strip the scalp of its natural oils and cause the hair to dry out over time. If you have an oily scalp and hair then washing it everyday is necessary but if it’s dry… it is lacking oils so going longer between shampoos is a good idea. Going too long between shampoos however can cause too much oil to build up…. Which is a whole other issue. I don’t really know if there’s a better option… washing everyday or hot tools every day. I think we just need to be wise with our product choices and heat settings. Use shampoos and conditioners that have a pH that close to your hairs pH. Use leave in products that protect it from heat damage. Keep your hot tools at no higher than 350 degrees. And know your own hair…. If it feels like you should wash it… then wash it! This was a great question. Thanks so much for watching. ❤️

    This tutorial is great!! When would you choose this over the wefts you sew in?

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab 3 місяці тому

      Good question. Some people do wefts… tape and /or sew in at the bottom and middle and add the I tip closer to the top and sides for more movement and flexibility. I do recommend using the i tip on strong hair. If the hair is fragile the tension of the bead can cause breakage. Singe side tape or Fusion are other options. I’ll be doing a video on the fusion soon as well. Thanks so much for watching! Hope this helps.
