Turbo MX5 vs TR7 at PI
Brendon from Beavis MotorSport has a series of How to Drive a race track at Phillip Island, Sandown and Winton circuits. They are excellent and I highly recommend checking those out at Beavis Motorsport on UA-cam.
Brendon is a good 10 seconds faster than my 1.59.8545 however his MX5 Turbo has a smidge more power than my 100hp at the crank :)) My 100hp is on a good day in reality

Chasing KC in his Mini then at the end of the run some excitement with passing some cars. My in car didn't function for some unknown reason but most likely incompetence I'm thinking

My fuel tank and fuel pump set up. A bit of a followup video of my fuel related issue at The Bend a month or so ago. The earth feed to the rear pump was compromised on the earth lead on that occasion.

The Bend MSCA Primary fuel pump died yesterday which I fixed by replacing with a new pump and so all was well. I thought!! Back of the field was a nice chance to follow my friends and show their cars from behind. It turned out to be a bad earth caused by a dry solder connection to the primary fuel pump causing me to 'run out' of fuel. Its nearly always the silly things that cause a failure . Sa...

Hadyn sent me some footage chasing me which is very kind of him as wanted to see my lines and where could improve. Most certainly the Jaguar is wonderful under brakes so I really need to improve that part of my driving that's for sure. Thanks Hadyn. kippy

12th place for Triumph Racing although the other TSOA team Triumph Troopers made up of 3 newbie 1st time drivers and 3 experienced trounced us getting a well deserved 5th placing in the 2024 PCV 360 relay. I thought I was doing OK and blow me down RV in the Healey Sprite and RT in the Datsun 2000 got into the 1.32's . You better take out the Stanza soon to show em hahaha. It was a great day all around. The issue was mandy Kip, she backed off as we approached the timed start line run, Mandy need to be made aware that no one can pass her when she back off, she was doing this more at the end of the day, it was starting to piss me off,
Nice to see my old GT6 in action. I had 162BHP on the dyno at the rear wheels before I sold it to Brian. It also sounds glorious inside at full throttle out of the corners.
Isn’t a TR7 with a V8 a TR8?
When the TR7 was released it was planned to have a V8 option and in fact the British Leyland rally team fitted a Rover V8 which was called a TR7V8. Eventually Triumph were able to bring out the V8 version as a factory option calling it the TR8. Initially the projection of sales of the Rover SD1 was going to take all the V8's British Leyland could make so Triumph couldn't make a V8 version of the TR7 but SD1 sales were not matching what sales had projected making it all possible for the TR8 . All very late in the production of the TR7/ TR8 and very few really were made at all.

Glad you liked it Barry. :)) New camera is a GoPro 10. Like a dummy I didn't find out I could attach track location, speed, G forces etc to the film until I'd already transferred the raw footage to computer and deleted the camera :(( Oh well next time I shall give that a crack hahaha. My old GoPro 4 I mounted down low in the air dam but I couldn't start it like I had intended. Again next time I shall be better prepared. Nice going Kippy. Good lines but like you I had a problem in remembering best way through T2 now that the ripple strip has been changed. How come the much maligned, and much older, TR7 is faster thru the twisty bits than those younger cars? As for the lime green Peugeot ….
it ramps up voltage to pump as a warm up feature,its so you can run without a thermostat
prob gonna need more than a water p;ump to solve the chronic overheating on these cars

yes.............I've heard of the Group 44 TR8 .....
i am Jay Fox....and i worked for "Group 44 " and their TR8 race car ...and was the fuel man for the 1980 12 Hours of Sebring win ! : )
Why were you starting at the back (best cars at the back)? You obviously had a quick car and good driving skills? How is a 2.5L allowed in a GT6? Plus the starting acceleration showed it was seriously modified. My old '67 GT6 with a modified 2.0L could red line 4th at half throttle (w/ 3.89:1 differential) and it was nowhere as fast as yours. It was probably best I never took my '67 GT6 on the track (autocross only) because those swing axles would have been scary. The only track time I have is 1000 miles (driving school only) in a Viper which has a whole different level of acceleration.
Sadly to say this GT6 is not my car but rather Trevor allowed my to put this footage up from one of the Races of the MG and Invited British Racing series. If you would like to see some more of Trevor's car Blendline TV UA-cam will have mentions and vision of the flying GT6 :) Last weekend Trevor took out the round at Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne and I believe is now leading the series with the last round to be held at Sandown Raceway in Melbourne November 11th and 12. Live vision will be shown on the Blendline TV UA-cam channel. PS this series is for MG's and invited British that in some cases bear only a fleeting image of how they came from factory with some being almost full on race cars with others being mildly modified in comparison :) The little Blue Midget has an A series engine with a BMW K100 head for instance so it absolutely punches well above its weight although only 1300cc keeping V8's honest haha look for another video on this channel called State Racing PI Race 2 October for some good footage of Trevor on the Blendline mixed in with footage from inside a TR7 Sprint pps The reason Trevor started from the rear of the field was a dnf previous race due to an electrical glitch I think kippy

It was actually after a pretty miserable day with heavy drizzle which makes Sandown just that little bit tenuous haha. Matthew, in the Jag, wandered up for a chat after this as we both had fun that certainly levelled the playing field in my favour. In the dry it'll be no contest at all😢. Glad you liked it 😂

Chris, It all got a little pear shaped with the thermostat housing causing an issue and a persistent minor leak from the rebuilt pump also. Damn!!!! I eventually called it a day and fitted a Davies Craig electric pump with the controller for coolant fan with the pump . The Davies Craig set up works an absolute treat and I'm no a complete fan of their setup :)) kippy
Had a slight leak in mine last year, more likely because I hadn't been using it for a few years. Anyhow, RobSport & Rimmer Bros. do do an OEM upgrade kit for the water pump assembly. I used that and had to get the bottom ring of the impellor machine re-surfaced. Only took 1-2 thou of it just to ensure the seal was good. Job done. I like the idea of an electric pump, but not wanting more power I'd rather stick to the original design, in all respect, but thanks for sharing.
