Good stuff. I remember my last UH-60L Aerial Gunnery flight in 2002. I knew the dream was coming to an end. 22 years of flying, over 1500 hours logged from 1982-2002. The only thing I miss is the comradery and Door Gunnery missions. Thank you for your service to our great Country.
ty for your service ! Glad you made it home my brother.
For any viewers wanting context of this video, this is the final flight of this instructor or evaluator aerial gunner career it seems. The aerial gunnery range is Red Rio, and he is shooting at stationary targets like Huey helicopters, convoys, and my favorite was the train going into a tunnel. They land at the 551st Special Operations Squadron on Kirtland AFB in New Mexico, which was an AFSOC training unit for the MH-53s, and the MC-130P Combat Talon II during the time when this video was filmed. The Air Force MH-53 was called the Pave Low, and has quite the legacy (hence the traditions you see in the video). I was not a Pave Low guy, I was an HH-60 Pave Hawk flight engineer. I trained next door at the 512th Rescue Squadron, and graduated about the time they were retiring the 53s, and then bringing in the CV-22s (My final check ride was by an evaluator flight engineer TSgt who was crossing over from Pave Hawks to the 22). Anyway, great to see the footage and I hope everyone in this video is doing great!
Glad you made it home my brother.
Ty for your comments. Glad you made it home my brother.
Love this man! Greatest guy.
Met Daryl at our apt we lived at in Mesa in 1987.He was a great Uncle, brother, and son to his family.Met him at the swimming pool and remembered he had the biggest, brightest smile that could light up a dark room.He looked intimidating but was a big teddy bear inside. My heart goes out to his family and friends. He was an Angel here and now is an Angel up in Heaven.Rest in Peace Big D. 🙏 😇
