Neighbor lady needs a new car!!! 😲
Next door neighbour said she hit a pothole and heard a BANG!! She needed to know if it was safe to drive...I'd say probably not , this is the left rear frame rail...😔.

This is why you need to change your coolant once in a while...nasty 😱
2010 Toyota Camry, rusted out power steering line
Переглядів 1254 роки тому
This is a 2010 Camry I was doing some work on when I noticed a drip from the power steering return line, turns out that the coating on the line had cracked allowing road brine to get to the steel and it was only a matter of time before the rusties did their damage. I’ll replace it with copper since it’s on the low pressure side of the fluid circuit and the copper won’t rust.
2017 Ford Escape, Loose axle support bearing
Переглядів 9504 роки тому
This is an Escape that I was doing an undercoating on, I removed the under cover and found the axle support bearing was no longer being held tight in the bracket and was spinning...and was also doing a little machining on the bracket, looks like a new bracket and axle assembly are in order for this Escape!!
2017 Chevy Trax AWD, totally shot ball joint
Переглядів 1,7 тис.4 роки тому
This Trax was in for a routine oil change and tire rotation, when I gave the front end a cursory shake down I found this ball joint that was ready to come apart. Just as bad was the fact that someone else had already been there and snapped off the pinch bolt that holds the stud into the knuckle , the nut and part of the bolt were missing and the only thing holding it together was rust...not cool!!
A/C leak, Chevy Traverse
Переглядів 194 роки тому
This is a car I had at the shop today for a “A/C not cold “ complaint. Rear low side line behind the right rear wheel liner was corroded through, sorry not much audio but you can see the water bubbling that I sprayed on it if you look close. Very much in the rust belt here in Nova Scotia so complaints like this are common as dirt 😁. Thanks for watching!!
2004 Honda Civic loose timing belt

An ‘04 Civic 1.7 litre with intermittent stalling and noise from the timing belt area caused by a loose timing belt. The cause of the looseness is as of yet unknown.
Imagine how hard that guy in his driveway fought and swore to get that brake pad to seat incorrectly in the caliper...
He was on a mission for sure!!😁
If you want to wrench STUDY and study more. Know theory of operation. Know metalworking basics. READ, don't just watch videos. Everyone breaks something during the learning curve, but that's also a learning opportunity.
EGG-ZACTLY!!!! 😁
Stop charging outrageous prices to do easy cake walk car repairs. Shops that charge $150 an hour should pay workers 120k per year, not $18 an hour.
Brain surgery is a cake walk too though ....once you know how, he didn't know how.
Can just the bearing be replaced or does the CV axle have to be replaced?
What part number is that? I ordered th reservoir return, but it don’t have the metal piece that is rusted like this
I didn't order a replacement, I just built a new one out of a bulk length of 3/8" copper tubing, way cheaper and no more rusting through.
about how much to replace?
You can usually get a lifetime warranty one from NAPA for $50-$60, but the ball joint is riveted into the control arm so figure on a couple hours labor at whatever hourly rate the shop you go to charges, you might be better off to pay a little more for the part and grab a whole control arm from Rockauto and save some labor cost. HTH
@@protechautoservice4683 thank you!
Sooo bad tensioner?
Ended up being a broken tensioner spring, she was very fortunate that it was caught before the belt jumped. Thanks, have a great day!!
Is this the driver's side or passenger?
It was on the passenger side, dealer replaced axle shaft and bracket under warranty after the owner showed the video to the tech working on it.
@@protechautoservice4683 thanks for the reply! My CV axil on 2017 Escape (driver's side) is loose. I can move it and the housing that attaches to the transmission about 1/8". I think that's causing a slow speed clunking. Also clunks while turning. Would you replace the axil and the part that attaches to the transmission?
@@timu.6452 The left side should plug directly into the transmission, I suspect the piece you're referring to is the inner CV joint, its part of the axle assy. and there will be a little play where it plugs in. I'd say your clunking is coming from another part, probably best to take it to a shop you trust for an on the hoist assessment. HTH
@@timu.6452 What Ted said 🙂
i just found your video and i have the same problem with my volvo v70 with ford engine/driveshafts. i loosen the mount and bend a metal piece,so when i put back the mount the bearing gets tight again 🙂
Sure , that would work too but they still had warranty so we let Ford pay for it 😁
Wish they put grease fittings on the ball joints - I think they would last a bit longer. Good video BTW
Thanks, just using my iphone right now, need to get something a little more user friendly for editing and such. Yes those ball joints are definitely designed to fail, oh well , keeps me busy 😉
@@protechautoservice4683 Cool - I started with a Panasonic PV950 VHS - the kind you wear on your shoulder :) Folks used to make fun of my first few vids :)
@@LakesideAutobody Wow, that’s a blast from the past, musta been pretty cumbersome, doing body work and wearing a camera on your shoulder, especially the one where you’re fixing the hole in the door sill. Still, didn’t turn out too bad 🙂
@@protechautoservice4683 I had that guy sitting on a stool at first - then bought a tripod so it wasn't to bad - just looked bad :)
@@LakesideAutobody Ahh, that's easier. What are you using for a camera now? The resolution of your videos is much better now.
