Tractor Fest 2024 at Newby Hall is the UK's largest vintage tractor & engine show.
With over 1,800 exhibits on display this year with 4 special themes of;
A celebration of the orange tractors.
Harvesting & Threshing.
Engines Made in Lincolnshire.
European Cars.
Ive tried to capture i bit more of the soul of the show, the banter outside the beer tent about each others machines, the unknown dangers of the working exhibits, the oddball stuff that isn't easily recognised, Machines we'd all like to have a go at making at home. The Walls Family Rack saw bench this year was powered by a Fordson E27N Perkins P6 Major for a short spell, An interview with Alastair about his truly magnificent Gold IH Farmall BMD & matching IH B300 plough which only a few were sprayed gold for the Queens coronation in 1953.
Ian showing us how easy an IH Farmall F12 tvo is to swing off in the ring, & look round a homemade Marshall Mp4 prototype built from a fowler crawler.
An little bit of drone coverage of the vast expansion of tractors & equipment on show this year showing a little bit room for more growth over the next years.
Another rare sight was a pair of "Victoria" Oil Ploughing engines built by Walsh & Clark Ltd Guiseley Leeds proving difficult to start along with a Pampa Tractor, Lanz-Bulldog & Fords N.
Before final saving the best clip till last of Tom Wall towing out a wagon with his Roadless Fordson Super Major Ploughmaster.

IH McCormick B450 Hydraulic fix

In this 4th video of fixing this nice original McCormick B450 back to working glory we will be covering the hydraulic issues’s of them not working & also missing a pair of arms at the back. We will also be changing the piston seal inside the hydraulic ram so it won’t loose pressure whilst it got implements lifted into the air.

Great video as usual mate! Some real interesting tractors at that rally. Chap nearly lost a foot under the tracks, but these things do happen! 🤣 I liked the two tractors that looked like traction engines belted to thrashing setts, can you remind me what there called!?🤔
They're Walsh-Clarke tractors.

I’d of preferred more engine noise for the video but a lot was lost to sound of busy traffic. Personally i like the heavy iron maiden sound thought it was fitting , but i am open to suggestions?

The Engine was originally supplied to the ministry of munitions 1917 one of a No of 10NHP engines, the accident happened in 1919 resulting in the engine being returned to John Fowler where it was rebuilt as a Showmans engine.

Birdlip was named after the accident it had on Birdlip Hill.

Nice bit of local history.
Old ploughman once said to me” if you know how to set your plough. Sometimes Youl do your best work in wet ground”. Showed there with some burying trash, others struggling!🙂 As usual great watch mate!👍
We, farm I worked for, rented some land roughly in same area for spuds. I remember farm manager of the day saying crops on this land needs to go through bullocks and not to a chippy ! It was rum gear, farms 2 Grimme harvesters were useless, bunged up, A Reekie with dohlman rollers was demo'd, boss hired it till field was finished, contractor's last words when field was finished, we will call you, not you call us haha.
Love the b450 brings back a lot of memories at the age of 11 working in the summer holidays I used to drive it with a 4 wheel dray on the back collecting bales and dad used to pull in the clutch in 😊because i was too small to reach it happy days.
Great to hear about your recollection of B450, as you grew up where every let loose with it, the clutch takes some engaging I’ve be brought up messing about with the model before the bwd6 which is a bit smaller. If your interested I have other videos of it in the state I bought it in to getting in running & working again with more to follow. Thanks for your comment great to hear from another IH fan.

Got a few sandy fields near us. If you look closely at the drone footage over the A64 road is a sand quarry, it’s also where J.D.Ireland ran his Lorrie’s out of.

Classic combines were you learnt the skills of operating one correctly. Not like today’s operators who know only how to push computer screens. Will Ollie’s Harrison’s Claas still be running in 20years time ?
You're right there Bob, but then again modern combines seem to cope with poor crops better and the skills now seem to be how to use a screen, something I couldn't do as good as a young un!

Fantastic film, spent most of my working life servicing and repairing Massey combines. Worked on most of them from the 788 right through to the Danish made 30 /40 series.
So you’ll know your way around a few of them then.
Wonderful nostalgic film Thankyou. My uncle had a 525 which I spent many happy hours riding along side of him combining when I was a kid. Great memories happy days! 👍
