I purchased a 97, single owner, <100k miles, in 2020. - No Regrets. Repairs are costly. Gas is expensive. But it's worth it. Pull the trigger if you're reading this and trying to figure out what you should do! Trust me.

Like others have mentioned, a properly running IS won't burn oil and should get decent gas mileage (22-24 mpg). One of the common issues you missed was the oil seals. Due to the age of these things now, you'll likely have to change a bunch of seals (e.g. cam/crank/valve covers) if that hasn't been done before. Good call on the winter tires. It amazes me how many people don't use them.

question for LS 400 owners: do you get any of electrical issues with your ls400 ? i am asking since the cars that is +25 years old tend to have those electric nightmares when capacitors start to leak, ribbon cables and diffent control boards go bad… any negative OR positive comments ? Thank you for your time

If maintained they don't take any more oil than a normal engine. Otherwise valid points. The Altezza in Japan came with a 2.0 4cyl 3s-gte engine.

That plastic cover doesn’t seem to do much except scratch the paint. Always use a cloth cover, plastic likes to scratch and swirl
