    That was the first of two accidents in four months in that exact same building. In March 2008 a guy lost control on the White Horse Pike and steered off through the jughandle, but the car sped up on its own. He crashed through the windows of Bradlees, hence the reason they’re boarded, about ten feet from the columns and the windows that the bus knocked out. He was in extremely critical condition, but I never heard anything else so I assume he lived. 6 originally reported on it, but the reports are nowhere to be found online. Bradlees closed in 2001 and the building was in great condition then. Throughout 2007-2009 Kennedy Hospital was thinking of opening up a rehab center called NexGeneration in that location, but the two accidents plus the building constantly getting worse convinced them to nix the plan. (I guess they thought the store would remodel itself?) As of June 2011, lots of guys in suits were going in and out, so it must’ve been in good condition then. As of September 2012, it was being remodeled. However, by 2019, a layman who snuck into the store described it as “completely black” and “a total loss.” Why it hasn’t been knocked down is a mystery, but taking down the 70-old Bradlees store would probably take down the 70-year-old Goodwill attached to it, since as a regular Goodwill shopper I can confirm that the building is on life support. It’s a slow-motion Grant City, if you know what I mean.

    My Dad, Francis "Mickey" Lyons, was a member for over 30 years. What a great bunch of guys. In the 1st bay was a chalk board where they would put the address of the fire. We would ride our bikes to the firehouse get the address & off we would go. Laurel Springs is a small town. Everyone knew everyone. Great memories!!

    Who broke the front window ? It should have remained intact until the company was ready to move in with a charged line. With the window intact, the truck officer and can man could have gotten in and probably knocked down a lot of the fire and made a quick search, since it wasn't a lot of fire to begin with.

    • @capt6069
      @capt6069 10 років тому

      The heat must have broke it because no one on the scene at that time could have done it . We were the the first ones on scene acting as 1st due engine. I agree with you about the truck officer and can man and we train that way, however that usually will not happen within the ways of operating at fires in this area (small town suburban, running multiple types of taskforces)

    Do you think because no flames are visible means the heat went away as well? They knock out windows to relieve the heat inside. They just walked into an oven. When you bake your oven take a good hour to cool. When the FF went to the back room did you notice the camera fogged from heat? Smashed out window and it cleared back up because the heat was no longer a problem. Fantastic job guys. Ya'll saved a whole building and that is great, nobody got hurt. FU fat ass armchair cop.

    The fire is out, the smoke is clearing, and the guys proceed to break every last window in the apartment. Seems like excess damage, to me.

      We got an arm chair quarterback right here. Who clearly isn't a firefighter.

    • @firefighterE134
      @firefighterE134 11 років тому

      First with the amount of damage to the house from the fire the windows will be trashed anyways during the rebuild (if they even rebuild) most houses get torn down after a fire. Second, the fire might look out but there is still a good possibility its still burning in the rafters and inside the walls. These unseen fires can flare up very quick and trap firefighters, breaking the windows gives them a way out if they are trapped. Or there is always the possibility the roof can collapse blocking their other ways out of the house. Having a window broken and ready for an escape is very important. Im a firefighter and my life in much more important than someones window. If you feel the need to criticize something you don't understand please do some research first. As the above comment stated you clearly aren't a firefighter. Don't critique what you don't understand.

    Wow, this is really good. QUICK, AGGRESSIVE transitional attack. Not to mention quick thinking by the company officer after the initial attack line burst. This should be shown as training. It also proves that DARKENING down the fire from the outside before advancing in is beneficial. Once the fire was darkened an aggressive interior attack was mounted just like it should be. Great video.

    Despite the way things look and work as shown in this video, fire fighting still remains constant. You still get your ass to the fire, pull hose, and put water on the fire. Things are just a bit more organized now :P
