Most of these videos are of vintage pachinko machines that I have restored. Most are designed to show off a specific machine but a number of them are tutorials on restoration techniques.

That PACHINKO SIGN is downright amazing!
My good friend Rudy made that for me. 😀
That sure is beautiful Pachinko sign you have!
I find that when the nails are removed they all have the 4 degree bend in them. Do you straighten the nails before installing them back on the board?
I don’t pay any attention to the nails until I reinstall them. I just make sure they have a slight upward bend and are gapped properly.
I really like your tip about a single coat of polyurethane on the playfield wood as it allows the playfield nails to grip better when putting them back on.
I put a single coat of poly on the playfield side to insure a smooth surface for the adhesive to stick to. Never thought about the nails. They go back in just fine.
The stain looks good, IMO. very different
I don’t mind the dark stain. I just like to leave them as original as possible.
Thanks for sharing
Nice looking machine!
Nice machine.. hey Dan, what happened to your dark hair?? All these restorations making you go gray?? LOL
Good question! I just got tired of dying it. Finally embraced the gray! I’m still young at heart!😀
The machine I picked up yesterday has this attraction. Fun to see it in your videos!
Good evening! This is Steve Ashe in Colorado! We spoke earlier! This machine looks like the machine I'm working on!
Nice work. Single shots aren't my cup of tea, but this one is nice
nice job Dan!!
As always, a great video. Love the single shot machine.
Love to see a new video! Thanks Dan
More to come!
Great list of cleaning supplies. Now using all of them. The krylon paint also a great recommendation. Thanks for all you helpful tips.
I have one from maybe the 70's or 80's. It has no power cord however. I do see red blue green power posts. Can I just get an AC cord for this? Or is there some power conversion needed?
These machines were powered by 10 VDC in the parlors in Japan. They do not run on AC! I sell a 12VDC power kit that includes a wall transformer, 12 V bulbs and a new fuse. If you are interested, shoot me a text @ 585-760-9104
You need DC and 10V for stock bulbs etc. if you plug it directly into an outlet you might have a fire on your hands
Just bought one I am restoring. Can I ask, what are you sing to power it?
I change all my machine over to using a 12 VDC power transformer. In change the bulbs to 12 V and replace the original fuse. A 9V battery will work also.
I have one of these arrange ball machines. Where did you get the lights? Both the small and the 2 larger lights for the top. In mine, the 2 larger lights in the top look like automobile bulbs. That would explain the 12 volt system.
Those bulbs are available on eBay. They are called “ grain of wheat” bulbs.
@@MagicPachinko Thank you. My machine seems to be functional with the exception of some bulbs that are burned out. I've already ordered LED replacements for the two top lights. I think I'll just replace all of the others so they are all new. Do you have any idea what these arrange ball machines are worth? From what I'm reading and seeing, they seem to be rare and expensive but I don't see any values listed.
If it doesn’t work properly, it’s not worth much at all. If it works properly, that’s a good thing. Then the cleaner the better. It’s going to be worth what ever someone is willing to pay for it. I’ve restored a few of them but never sold one. If I were to sell my restored machine, I’d probably ask $2,000.
@@MagicPachinkoI know the grain of wheat bulbs are 12v but do you know the proper m amps? Does it matter?
@@danafawbush6158 Honestly don’t know, but I don’t think it really matters.
Had a problem with old Maruhon not paying out. This video helped me trouble shoot and fix the problem. Great overview of how Pachinko works. Thanks Dan!
I have one is it worth keeping or throw away? Market for old ones?
Send me pictures. 585-760-9104
I don't know why UA-cam suggested your video, but I'm glad it did. New subscriber! After watching, then some google searching, I figured out my old machine is a 1975 nishijin model B. My aunt sent it to my family when she was stationed in Okinawa in the late 70s. It's been jammed up since my son and his friends played it too hard about 20 years ago. I think it's time to figure out how to fix it, touch up some paint, and bring it back to life. Thanks for the motivation!
Awesome! Thank you! Let me know if you need any more help.
Always a joy to watch you Dan
Thank you!
Beautiful machine
Hey Dan i was wondering where I would buy the lights for a Nishijin Model A / all electrics. I got mine for 40$ and completly works, but it lacks electrical components.
I sell a complete power kit, including a 12VDC power supply, light bulbs and a new fuse. Send me a text after the 23rd and let me know that’s what you want. I won’t be back home until then. 585-760-9104 Dan
I have a daiichi machine with the diagonal glass. Box stores couldn't cut it correctly. Had to get a $100 dollar specialty glass shop to cut it with a laser
FB marketplace list these daily. prices all over the place
I am up to 7 machines now and 6 of them i bought as "i dont know if it works" the exception was the one I got from you a couple years ago. People get these from estate sales and resell and they dont know the ins and outs and so far i have been lucky and had no issues, its either the seesaw in the wrong direction, or its fine and just needs a deep clean, but majority is they have no balls, so they cant test. As long as i see all the expected pieces and nothing is missing i will take the chance on it, given the price of course. I definitely not afraid to buy an "as is" if its a complete machine. If i relied on the seller showing me it would work i would have 1 machine, at least in my area unless you pay hundreds, all your gonna get is "unknown". I will not pay more than $75 on an unknown, but if its complete, and is just no balls to test for $75 or less, sure ill take that chance, if anything its a learning experience trying to get it working.
It’s obvious that you don’t have “pachinko ignorance “. I made that video for the first time buyers. Thanks for your input!
Came across my first machine at a flea market and had no idea how it worked. Over the years I’ve expanded my collection and learned how to service them. However one thing that I’ve found in two different machines is that they were jammed up by people using some random ball bearings of the wrong size. Also I agree some of these old machines on eBay for example are wayyyyy overpriced
Toying with the idea of buying one, so this is great help! When I was 9 or 10, I had one that had been left behind by a tenant in my parents' old house that they were renting out. This was probably around 1974-75, maybe a couple years later, so the machine was most likely late '60s vintage (?). I think it was NIshijin, just because that sounds really familiar, but that may have just been the name imprinted on the balls. Since the house the tenant left it in was not terribly from from Pachinko Palace in San Mateo, CA at that time, there's a good chance it was from there. Anyhow, a Japanese childhood friend taught me to launch balls far more frequently than I originally thought, and replacing the ancient lead acid battery suddenly made a lot of things work that hadn't when I got it! I gave it to some young kids of family friends when I went off to college in '82 and didn't really think about it again - until NOW. For whatever reason, I now think I really need one in my TV room!
Great story! I hope you find a good one and have lots of fun with it!
I have that exact machine! Very excited to see how nice it can look!
I have that exact machine. One of my favorites!
Thanks for the info. That pivot is always a problem. Thanks to your advice that problem has been fixed on 2 of my machines!!!
Dan if you want to for pachinko machines with thin plexiglass installed you can take some pieces of foam or felt weatherstripping and stick a few of the pieces between the track and the plexiglass. This keeps the plexiglass from moving back and forth.
Just picked up a (1970s?) Daiichi Vanguard over the weekend in very good condition . Never seen a pachinko machine before in my entire life. Looking forward to learning more about the thing by watching your videos!
Sounds great! Let me know if you need any help.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video and sharing your experience with the rest of us.
My pleasure!
I can not express my gratitude enough, I have restored my 1977 Sankyo and that plastic lever was driving me crazy I tried lube , looking for adjustments, I spent hours on the problem so hopefully this might work so I can have a fully working Pachinko machine.
Do not use line on plastic and brass pivots. Just get them clean. If you did lube the pivot, I’d recommend cleaning them thoroughly.
I just bought a Maruto however I can't find out how old it is, it looks complete to me but I'm waiting on more balls to operate it. I can't figure out how the lights work though? I can't find anywhere to hook up a battery. It's not the same as this one
Make sure you have purchased authentic pachinko balls and not ball bearings. (From Amazon?) I can help you with the wiring. Contact me thru my website.
I opened up my HP Printer the other day, and that Pachinko machine looks very easy to work with.

Can you message me
Hi dan,,I would like to ask if I want to buy one, where should I find it?thx
Check FB marketplace and see if you can find one close to you.

You do such great work! I also have a Nishijin front overflow machine that I'm trying to restore. Wondering if you have any tips on removing the nails from the top of the frame? The nails at the top of the frame come from two directions through the dove-tail joint and I can't seem to get them out.
I use a nail puller to get them out.
very nice job!!
I recently came into a daido fever pachinko machine. I want to fix it up , do you know where I can start to check it out?
Start by cleaning the outside with Windex.
I've got an old machine from my father sitting here in my office that I haven't gotten around to restoring. The playfield is a little faded but all the colors show and it is in excellent condition.
I've watched a few of these videos (I keep it on while working in fact!) and I have to say I appreciate you go over the mechanics in almost EVERY video. It's nice; if I pick a machine up I feel i'll have the proper lingo and jargon down to help research what I need to fix. Edit: In addition you give easy to follow instructions for testing and understanding the whole workflow and cycle of the game. Love the videos!
Thank you very much for the kind words! I do enjoy making the videos.
I loved the one we had growing up in the mid 70's until I used all the steel balls in my sling shot, dad got so mad lol
I use those sticky felt pads for spacers under the feet on my pachinko machine. You can get a giant pack of them at the hardware store or Amazon.
Dan the police are coming for you for working on that machine.
Where you at? I have a shitty one (not that model)
