In Future solid state Lithium Ion & solid state Sodium Ion batteries will give tiff competition to the fuel cells , Because to produce one Kg of hydrogen it's required 50 to 55 units of power and to compress this hydrogen(350 Bar) another 5 60 7 units of power is needed depending on compressor performance and climate conditions , so the compressed hydrogen to reach vehicle tank it almost consuming 60 to 65 units of power. But in one KG of hydrogen it contain only 33 units of power. So per one unit of electricity you are keeping only half unit of power in vehicle tank. And the fuel cell efficiency is depending on type of fuel cell it varies between 45 to 55 percentage. So out of 33 units finally you are utilizing hardly 17 to 20 units. The efficiency is reaching around 30 to 33 percent. for 3 units of power hydrogen fuel cell is using only less than one unit of power. But Lithium Ion or sodium ion batteries if you charge with 60 to 65 units vehicle will utilize 50 to 55 units(battery vehicle is having 85 percent efficiency).But the drawback of battery technology is even for fast charging it will take 1 hour to 3 hours where as in fuel cell vehicle hydrogen tank can be filled with in 10 Min. In future solid state batteries are coming but at present this technology is at battery pack vehicle testing stage.- Solid state batteries can be charged with in 15 Min. to 20 Min. still maintaining my knowledge 1000 to 2000 cycles at 75 to 80 percent of battery pack degradation And solid state battery weights around 3 kg/kwh. I think for passengers vehicles and load carrying vehicles gross weight below 60 tons Solid state batteries are well suitable , Load carrying vehicles Gross vehicle weight more than 100 tons and for ships, Boats, airplanes fuel cell powered hydrogen and solid state battery combination is the only option(plug in series hybrid).For agricultural (Tractors)and harvesting equipment pure electric(solid state batteries) and series hybrid combination of IC engine or Hydrogen fuel cell with solid state battery as per customer need.
