2024 Powell Ranch TORCS | TRACK IS SICK!
Переглядів 36216 годин тому
In this video, I tackle a tough hare scramble at Powell Ranch, part of the TORCS (Texas Off-Road Championship Series). The 70-minute race was filled with small hills and bumpy terrain that put every rider's endurance to the test. I was competing in the 40 C class, giving it my all despite feeling under the weather. Unfortunately, the race didn’t go as planned, and I had to DNF (Did Not Finish) ...

In this video, I take on a challenging hare scramble at Ruby’s Place, a rocky off-road track that really tested my limits! This race was part of the brand new TX2 racing series, which features a unique two-moto format, unlike the usual single race we're used to. I competed in the 45 C class and gave it everything I had on the tough terrain. Despite the effort, I ended up finishing last in my cl...

This was the first ever TX2 race. A little more rocky than most are used to, but not for the CTOR riders. Practice helped groove some lines in and by the motos the rocks were not really a problem except for that one small section in the beginning. #tx2 #dirbike #gp #harescramble #offroadracing #offroad #race

I'm a C rider who has been getting better (and faster) over the past couple of years. I'm trying to push here in this 30 minute moto. I know I'm leaving time on the track, i just have to get more comfortable going faster through the corners and rolling onto the throttle more mid corner. #dirbike #offroad #woods #gp

Fun day. Great place to ride, just wasn't a fan of the sand. It was hella dusty too. But not alot of opportunities to ride on property like that. Gotta take them while you can.. 👍
@@christdiedforyou7815 I’m with you on the sand. I’m not much of a fan, although I’m better at it than I used to be. With 3 or 4 of our races every year being sandy it’s something that we have to learn to deal with.
Hey Chris, did you find out what the issue was with your KTM starting?
Not yet. I ordered a new battery since the old one was 5 years old. Ordered a new freewheel to swap out that part and still need to check the valve clearances.
@@unlimitedmoto40 man, hopefully it is something simple and you'll be back on the orange soon.
@@jmx7656 it starts fine normally, just not when I’m on the start line of a dead engine race. 😂 I didn’t ride it this weekend due to a small oil leak from a missing gasket. I’ll be back on it this weekend at TX2
@@unlimitedmoto40 I'm hoping I can make the next TX2 race, we will see.
Fun day! What app are you using to record the ride and save the route?
@@roost3d the ride is recorded on my Apple Watch using the built in workout app. I think you can use Garmin too. Then I use an app called Mx Buddy to import the ride and create the track map.
Thanks for letting me by at 12:30 Sucks that we both had a DNF. Get well man
I didn’t see your video yet. What happened?
@@giborex1 just went to your channel and saw the end of the vid. That was real bad. You okay? That was the same place Malory crashed I’m pretty sure.
@@unlimitedmoto40 I was in some pain Sunday and Monday, but I’m starting to feel better. Gotta buy new handle bars and clutch lever (just glad I didn’t break any bones)
@@giborex1 yeah, good thing no bones were broken. It's hard to see what happened from the video. Did the back end just slide out?
@@unlimitedmoto40 There was a root in the bottom of that hole and my front tire came down on it.
You did great Chris! The footage was awesome and just keep at it, before you know it, you'll be running the A class. Keep going bro!
@@jmx7656 gotta catch all those sandbaggers in C class first. Lol. Appreciate the support, I can definitely see the difference from last year.
I'm looking to get into TORCs. I moved down from Michigan. Thanks for the video so I can see how the tracks are down here 💪🏻
@@MotoAnthony also check out TX2, which is another series that just started in September for two wheels (they’ve been doing four wheel racing for a couple years. tx2racing.com
@@unlimitedmoto40 biggest thing for me is finding stuff in North Texas. From what I've found, a lot of the TORCs races are down by Houston or past Austin
@@MotoAnthony north Texas is different. TORN ended last year and TCCRA is the Harescramble series there and TSCEC is the enduro series that is TX wide. Some people from North TX will come down for TORCS and TX2 for a couple of races a year.
rocks are twice as big hills twice as steep ledges twice as high.

For this series, must you have your ama license?

Great race Chris. Looking really good out there. I used to work for Woods Cycle Country.
Appreciate it. Fun being out there with a new format on a new course.
@@unlimitedmoto40 I watched your other video and saw how open it was, it's was great footage. Hopefully I'll go ride this week hopefully
@jmx7656 yes it was. Usually I’m holding up people in the classes behind me, but not on this course. 😎

@@roost3d next one is more accessible to Houston riders. Should be fun with a few more racers
Where is this?
New racing series in central Texas called TX2
This is awesome! How far away are the races? I am assuming its the same range as TORCS right?
yes, same areas as TORCS. Round 2 will be in October about 20-30 minutes away from Cole’s Fun Pit
@unlimitedmoto40 heck yeah! Thank you Chris! Also you've been posting some good videos lately.
Looks like a fun place 🤙🤙
There was a ride day back in march here as well. Different course with more single track. I have a video of it. I believe they are going to do another one this year.
Good race Chris
Thank you, Malcolmik! You going to B next race?
🤣🤣🤣
Who's that sexy cheerleader on 666 trying to push and pull ya along? Good job fella
666 was on the move!!
I did the race but never again. Coles fun pit ain’t no fun! Life is too short. I do the races for fun and it was no fun. I love Buckee’s bbq sandwich will have to try the jerkee.
Last year at Cole’s was so much more fun. Even with the dry conditions, if we had run the exact same course as last year it would have been much better because it was not as tight. The new tight sections, combined with the dry conditions made this one pretty brutal 🤷♂️
Chris I would try dropping the front a little and see if that helps you getting the bike turned. You have a lot more speed you can take through those corners. Definitely improving.
@@casparhassall8184 the guy I bought the bike had a 1.5 inch lowering link on it. I never took it off. Would that make turning worse?
@@unlimitedmoto40 if the front wasn’t also lowered at the same time that would make your bike pitch upward. Same as having too much sag. It would make it more difficult to get weight on the front in turns. I would remove the link and put back to standard as the first step.
@@casparhassall8184 I’m going to try it. Although I love being able to dab easily with the lowered bike.
Great practice! Try keep your knees back behind your pegs and squeezing with your legs under braking. It helps anchor the back tire and keeps front end from wanting to wash when braking hard
Thanks for tip. I usually try to do that when I’m in the woods, but wasn’t thinking about it for this drill. 3rd great pinned on this bike is 40+mph and definitely an “oh shit” moment where I’m just thinking about hanging on. 😂
@@unlimitedmoto40 ha mostly I’m guilty of it too. Always easy to point stuff out from the outside in. Not as easy when doing it and trying not to die! Knees back and squeezing will make it feel much more controlled and safer though
You can definitely see you have gotten faster since your earlier videos. Your turns are looking better and handling is looking better also.
Thanks! I’ve been working on getting the front suspension to travel more so I’m more comfortable at speed. Still need to get more comfortable in the corners. Fear factor starts to take over a bit.
what camera/APP/gear are you using for your mapping and biometric display? wanting to do beter than our gopro, or just learn how to use it!! thanks
Using GoPro 12 for the camera. For biometric and laps/course speed I’m recording with an Apple Watch (Garmin should work too). Then I import that workout data into an app called MX Buddy.
@@unlimitedmoto40 Thank you for the info. guess we just need to learn how to use ours!!
Keep that practice up, looking good. I'll be riding this weekend probably at Murphys. Not 100 percent yet because also thinking about Spoaks
TX2 round 1 is this Sunday

takes some guts to make a run at it!
All that matters is you guys gave it a shot, just keep practicing and soon before you know it, tracks like that place will get much easier. I gotta join you for a practice day soon.
@@jmx7656 yes, I agree. Keep getting better, little by little
Man it was a crap track! I did practice on Sunday and just packed it up and went home. My buddy did the same. It was all about surviving that place it was very hard to race it. They did move my fee to the next race for me so that was cool of TORCS to do that.
I had a similar thought during practice of how am I supposed to race and pass people on this track. 😎
My eyes are getting dusty just watching this.
I’ve watched several videos of guys coughing during the race 🤢
The struggle is real! Well done getting through it. Lesson learned, who needs hand guards?? 😁
Lol, my right hand felt naked after that. It was a struggle. And it wasn’t fitness related. I believe it was a skill thing. More experienced, faster riders still going to go fast through there.
right down the middle, possibly. Although those ruts may be deeper than they look on GoPro
The problem for me is that the trail is already downhill and then add about a 1ft drop into the rut. Makes me a little skittish to be aggressive.
Keep up the hard work man it'll pay off
@@CrazyBadPiper thanks! probably going to start focusing on hot laps instead of endurance after Cole’s. I noticed when I watched it back that I was holding back a bit in reserve.

The guy you called a sandbagger at minute 34 was a 15 year old kid on like his fourth race ever!!
@@amorgan7943 IMO, it’s time for him to move up to C or B. I don’t run the series though so I don’t really get a vote.
His fastest lap at that race was a 16:35. There was only one rider in 250FC that turned a faster lap than that. Yup, I stand by what I said in the video. Doesn’t matter how much experience he has, he should be in C class and if he continues to improve at this impressive rate, B class next year.
Ok?
what’s your question?
I'm from Dallas, and that's the best place I've found to ride; really great loops of various difficulty, lots of fun! I'm not a member there yet, mainly because it's so far away I can't get down there very often.

do you know if theyre going to change the membership rule going into 2025? really want to try it out but i dont know if Ill ride enough to make a membership worth it
I’m not sure. You’ll have to ask Benny. CTOR is the best deal around for riding. Even if you only ride once a month you are still coming out ahead than paying as you go ($30 or $40 per visit) at other places.
@unlimitedmoto40 I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it out there even once a month probably more like once every couple of months and then the call before you haul thing gets me too if I'm going to pay that much for a membership to a place id hate to be told I couldn't ride because there's nobody there. Do you know the best place to get a hold of him so I can ask him a few things I'm in the Facebook group but I can't find anybody around my skill level that's a member to try it out to see if I like it as much as I like hidden falls. It just don't make sense to me to get a membership to a place if I'm going to ride it a few times a year if I don't like it as much as hidden falls based on the videos it looks similar but hidden falls has the big rock shelves and the 4x4 trails I like going down along with the single tracks and they got a little track there for when I get bored if CTOR has similar trails to the 4x4 trails at hidden falls then I might find the membership worth it
And I like riding with my dad but he's got a sport quad and as far as I know they don't allow them there at all I don't like riding alone due to safety and not knowing any members I also don't want to be riding solo most of the time hoping somebody slow is out there that wouldn't mind a riding buddy
