In 20 years time you will regret the things you didn’t do more than the things you did do and even more regrets if you have no record of these things!

The mighty Indian ocean gave us a bit of a working over for two weeks! Swells from the Southern ocean rolled in on the port beam and made for an uncomfortable and often wet passage, but the Maxim 380 catamaran soldiered on relentlessly. This is a true sailing video, giving a good idea of tackling the Southern Indian ocean by sail boat. September 2024

Viento Del Mar sails from Kupang to the Komodo national park. It is middle of komodo dragon mating season and we get some awesome footage. We anchor and re-provision near the nice town of Labuan Bajo. Other highlights are Pink Beach and Padar island hike. Video gives an idea of cruising the Komodo islands by yacht. Underwater is just as impressive and the snorkelling is spectacular! July 2024

@@kudagoredema7230 thanks. Epic, challenging adventure but so worth it! Thanks for watching.
Amazing memories. I can't wait for my own journey to start. Mine will be solo and without return plans.
Thanks Amanda. Will watch for your videos! Shout for help when you pass by South Africa! Take your time out there. Slower the better! I was too rushed!
@@brandonjacksonsailing891 I will take your advice, and take my sweet time. I do have my house for sale, I don't want anything needing me back. I will definitely let you know when I'm heading to SA, I look forward to meeting you.
Congratulations!!

Nice looking cat. What are your likes / dislikes now you’ve done it all.
@@markthomasson5077 of the boat or the trip?
@ the boat. Did you make any changes?
@@markthomasson5077 yes, Starboard engine replaced (overheated and seized), main sail replaced, watermaker replaced, autopilot replaced, but boat itself was super solid including the standing and running rigging! Seems 20years old is the expiry date for many systems on a yacht! Only two things I would prefer on her - higher bridge deck and wider side decks. Everything else was superb!
Wooohoooo, well done. I'm so proud of your achievement. Hopefully, you'll scratch that itch and set out again.
@@OnTheFlipSide thanks Amanda. Getting itchy already. Visiting my son in US next month will soothe the itch a tiny bit!
@@brandonjacksonsailing891 Nice, what state does he live in?
@@OnTheFlipSide Dallas, Texas. Far from the ocean🙁
Brandon, are you going to do a video on the total fuel cost and breakages and replacements etc?
@@OnTheFlipSide yes, busy with it now but mostly estimates but will give a good idea.
🎉🎉🎉🎉 congratulations welcome home 🏡🏡🏡
OMG, that is Stunning!! Sharks a shark, next scene a wind surfer 🤣🤣🦈😋
I am Australian, I live in the USA. I have my house for sale, once it's sold, my plan is to sail the world with my 10 year old daughter. I am very impressed with your boat, it looks manageable, do you believe your cat could be solo sailed?
@@OnTheFlipSide great plan! Lucky daughter! Perfect age to sail. Start in the Caribbean is good. CHeck the Maxim 380 facebook page for info. facebook.com/share/g/15CAywz6ma/?mibextid=adzO7l
Your wife is amazing, do you think you will do a similar trip again?

Great episode. Awesome journey.
Great experience for him to achieve, life long memories.
Nice, Australia is stunning.
I am trying so hard to watch every video, you used the same music for every video.
@@OnTheFlipSide Hi Amanda. Trying the approach of many TV programmes where they use the same tune so that it becomes synonymous with that programme/ series. Difficult to find new non-copyrighted music for every video. Thanks for following and watching previous videos. Was fairly rough and amateurish in the earlier episodes - still is I suppose !

Awesome Brandon, so good achieving your goal, can't wait for the next trip. Thanks for your encouragement and support.
I’d rather be at sea on a heavy boat than the modern garbage that looks great at a boat show. Never have to worry about a Bulkhead failing.
@@larrymeyer2917 agreed. Ballast is best!
Epic trip guys !! I am a Ski Boat fisherman able to run for the beach at the first sign of trouble. Just found your channel and will definately go check out this trip
@@davewilloughby8066 glad you interested Dave. Many years on skiboat gave me the inspiration to do the offshore yachting thing!
🇿🇦. South Africa high crimes.
It was cool to watch. Would you say a monohull is better than a cat? I want to start learning to sail next year. Is there a special license needed to do sailing? I do have my skippers, got a small rubber duck
The mono-cat decision is a tough one. At sea would rather be in a monohull, but at anchor or island cruising, a cat. 90% of sailing is at anchor or mooring, so that swings in favour of a cat.
Nice episode. Just seen your video now. I’m out here due to my mom and dad as well so I truly get it. We spend the first year (20) all the way up to the top of Kenya with my Leopard 40 and then all the way down to Cape Town at the end and off in (21) to Namibia, St Helena Fernando de Noronha, Suriname them Trinidad and finally up to St Martin where we sold the Leopard and bought a Catana47 in Thailand. We have been sailing SE Asia for the past 2 years loving it but somewhere in the system The Pacific is still calling 😊 Congrats on your trip my first big Cat was also a Maxim then I went to the Leopard 40.
Good inspiration. May be following along that boat evolution path. Thailand also needs to be explored. Maybe catchup on the water one day!
@ Thailand is great Brandon but Malaysia with 3 month visas is even better. Many saffers out here mainly from East London. A few from Cape Town. We are waiting for my sister to fly in from PE on the 20 Nov and will head up to the Philippines.
A very well done Brandon, circumnavigation complete, a fabulous achievement, proud of you
Thanks Karen and Steve. Keep Naivasha going! And the UA-cam channel!
Beautiful spot, so remote
Well done, almost home!
Howzit from Uruguay, see you got an excellent crew there, I am preparing to do a solo trip from my place here straight to Durban, weather permitting I will stop to fish on Nightingale island weather permitting.
Wow. West to East is challenging but can be done. Tristan Da Cunha would also be en route I am sure?
Unbelievable achievement Brandon and your fine crew. Most of us will never experience what you have over the past 3 years. Possibly not brave enough to take on that mammoth challenge. It has been fun to watch your progress. Thank you for the fantastic show🙏
Thanks Duncan! Glad and sad it’s done. Time to dream the next dream!
I will never swim in the deep sea like this. Specialy near South Africa.
why not?
Calculated risk. Water very clear. Would see them from miles away but not many sharks in middle of the ocean - I think😬
Well done on your circumnavigation! Big congratulations! If all goes well, maybe I will see you in Durban. My trip is starting in a few months time from Scandinavia. Hope to meet you. (Maxim 380 Hull#37 / 2004)
Wow, All the best and if in Durban, shout if need help. Good boat you got.
Lucky you didn't become a Vetchies pier dive site! I live on the Gold Coast in Oz now but as a Bluff boy and ex RNYC and DUC member there's a lot of nostalagia when seeing Durban from the sea. Not too many boats circumnavigate from Durbs so I have enjoyed following you.
Thanks.. yes was hairy in Vetchies.
Any info would be great. The boat is on lake Malawi from new so fresh water only.
@@mamboos hi. Not sure what question is or boat is? Do you mean a Maxim 380. If so, the Maxim 380 and Voyage Facebook group has plenty info and files loaded about these boats. Happy to add advice if this is your query. Regards. Brandon
