Fully agree with eat when you're hungry and that the harm is not as guaranteed or severe as people imply. I've had HG with all of my pregnancies. I'm due baby #3 in weeks. I lose about 10kg in the first half of my pregnancy and it is really hard to get it back on. So I was fasting unintentionally (Wouldn't eat until I was able to keep water or a cracker down for more than 10 minutes!) For more than the first trimester of every pregnancy. I also breastfed my older 2 kids whilst I was pregnant with the next (So my oldest I nursed whilst pregnant with his sister, and nursed her whilst pregnant with this baby, too) making my caloric need incredibly high. My children were born at perfectly normal weights (7lbs 1oz and 7lbs 3oz). They grow slowly, and my 17m old is approx the size of a 9m old atm, but they have got a couple of allergy issues that we're trying to work out and seeing a dietitian for. Also, by genetics, everyone in my family is usually tiny until mid-20's. So I really don't think that fasting or sickness did anything to cause that. In addition. My son, just turned 3, can read and is learning to write already. Said more than 250 words before 18m and could make 8-word sentences before he turned 2. My 17m old says 2-3 word sentences already and says about 75 words, was crawling at 4m and walking at 9, first word at 10.5m. Clearly it did nothing to their brain development either. This comment is hear to try and share my experience with not eating enough in pregnancy and ease anxiety some people watching may have. Not a professional, just a mum who's been there. As long as you listen to your body, you should be fine. :)

I’m 22 weeks pregnant. I did OMAD or 18 hour fasting for 9 months before pregnancy. When I was about 6 weeks I couldn’t fast anymore - I would get so sick. That lasted til 18 weeks. But not for the past month I’ve been doing 18 hours or OMAD and I actually feel AMAZING. I eat a ton of protein and healthy fat in my eating hour, and I have so much energy now.

Great vlog. I'm readjusting my programme down from 8 hours to 5 and also not taking fasting holidays for non special occasions. So basically I'm looking forward to getting the sort of results you have been getting, by adjusting my approach. As you point out its not just about weight loss but other benefits too like getting complimen for smoother skin etc

Thank god for you. I was fasting pretty consistently in June and found out I was pregnant end of June. I have felt awful trying to increase my calories back up and so bloated not fasting. 14 to 16 sounds like the perfect compromise.

I know another young woman who struggles with thyroid and causes her anxiety. It is hard because the medications work for awhile and then they stop working. It seems to be one of those trial and error kinds of solutions until the doc finds the right medication for that individual, because it's not a black and white kind of issue, it's individual, so completely gray. I will tell you, the medical care that I received in KY was all that crazy and more. Keep looking though Amy, there are good people everywhere. You will find the right doc for you. Much love my friend.
