How To Read Fault Code - Triumph Motorcycle
Dude, get your exhaust, the DNA airfilter, DNK tune and the quickshifter 😊
Definitely on the wish list. Just gotta find the funds! I’m really looking forward to the exhaust and tune.
Thanks for the vid, I'm 52 and just put hold money down on this bike when it comes in, it'll be my first bike.
@JetSnake128 it’s a great platform; whether you are a veteran rider or a beginner, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Please, come back and let me know what you think! I’d love to hear from you.
Get a dart windscreen u wont regret it
@@ashward9390 how noticeable is it against wind?
@ very big diference and looks mad so much beter on highway and slow speed doesnt effect it
Great review thinking about this bike in the near future thanks
I'm glad you're considering it, it's a great bike!
I've had mine since they came out, so June 2021. Over 33,000 km on it. The longest trip was from Toronto, Canada, to the Tail of the Dragon. Changed the front tire last Fall, still on the original rear tire. It's an awesome bike, a real hooligan.
@@tridentyyz great long-term feedback, thank you. I think I can confidently say neither of us will get rid of it any time soon.
25:15 haha talkin like yr 55 not 35 🤣
Haha! Guess it all depends on how fast your body deteriorates. Time flies…
And then the gxr flies by and that sound is ❤
@@jings1926 haha! Barely had enough time to hear it. 😂
Man that thing looks sick. I like that it’s an actual throttle cable and it sounds great. If I were to add a bike for cruising downtown or something to like do a custom build on this would be considered.
@@jings1926 might be a good platform for a bobber. I haven’t ridden the 1100 model, but my mother-in-law has one… might need to check it out.
Blame tiktok. Thousands of new riders are starting out because they see guys on BMWS1000RR's going 150mph and saying "I want to do that".
Yup, I can see that being a contributing factor, too. Social media has a big influence on people.
I doubt many tiktok kids are buying a $20k bike to start with. This is "Marilyn Manson and GTA caused Columbine" logic.
@@niallk9336 don’t need a $20k bike to ride like a maniac on the highway.
IIRC the majority of motorcycle related deaths are alcohol related. Another major contributor is improper safety gear. Most do not wear sufficient or even ANY gear at all.
ATGATT and safe responsible riding are both great ways to combat the statistics. Agree 100%!
Have a link to that seat?
Yes, here you go. It’s a great seat cover. saharaseats.com/triumph-trident-660-cushion-seat-cover-diamond-design-triumph/
That GXR-bruh sounds like trouble!! 😉 As a whole, that Rebel 500 is a lot of fun. It's very neutral and has plenty of power to do what is needed.
@@bahagen hah! That he does…. 😂 Yes, I think it fits perfectly what I assume it’s marketed for. Great little bike!
I heard trouble is his middle name.
Confused what to get.. Z900 or trident 660? What is your opinion?
Well, that’s not really an apples to apples comparison; they are both naked bikes, but the similarities stop there. The Trident is a 660 cc inline 3 cylinder, the Z900 is a 948 cc inline 4. The Z900 makes much more power and torque than the Trident and has a bigger gas tank. The stylings are also very different. I think a more accurate comparison in the Triumph line would be the Street Triple RS; the stylings are more similar, as well as power output. If you are a beginner rider, that’s a lot of bike. I would suggest at the very least, sitting on all of these bikes and find out what is more comfortable for you. I think comfort and confidence are the most important things. Hope this helps!
@ thanks bro. In my country z900 and trident costs almost the same. Street triple is very expensive. And this would be my second bike. I had a ninja 300.
Ah ok, got it. Well, then I guess it would just depend on what’s most important for you; power, looks, comfort… have you sat on or test ridden both bikes? If that’s an option in your area, I think that would really help you decide.
Really up 2 u
this bikes messy on a rainy season
Its a very lightweight bike, very forgiving maintenance schedule, and it has plenty of pull from 0-120 (before being limited ag 132). I've tuned + straight piped mine and put a DNA filter and I've punched well above my class, it'll keep up with a lot of much faster bikes to 130. Beaten many expensive cars too
How is the reliability
After a year, neither of us have had any issues. General things still need to be maintained, but that’s not different for any motorcycle.
my fav mod is my tail tidy. its hard to justify it - pretty much just aesthetic, but i really like the look a lot better
Yea, that’s one that I’ve briefly looked at, but I don’t hate the stock look enough to spend the money to change it, haha.
Great job guys!! Time to come do a track day with me 🤪
I’m ready!
Good review. Triumph knocked it out of the park with the Trident and the updates they have on it (sport mode, quickshifter/auto blipper, cruise control, etc.) for 2025 without upping the price at all makes it all the more appealing. From some early reviews I've seen, the addition of the sport mode for 2025 really wakes up the throttle response on the bike; like having the ECU flashed but only for 1 mode, rain and road still have a bit of lag on the throttle which isn't a bad thing. Quick question: where'd you get the union jack radiator guard?
@@lightxgrenade there are definitely a few of the new “stock” items I would be interesting in adding to my bike. I’ve never used a quick shifter, but people swear by it. The sport mode would be a VERY welcome change to open things up without having to go with an aftermarket tune, which I’m really considering after a change to the exhaust system. Union Jack radiator guard was purchased on eBay. It wasn’t too expensive.
@@motomaverickusaThe factory quickshifter is genuinely so amazing. Livens the bike up for sure
Great video!
It was a great conversation! Fun one to make.
The pad in the back is not armor, it's just a foam pad and offers no impact protection.
@@ledpoizn you are correct. I made a correction the end of the video after I stopped to eat. I haven’t decided if I’m going to invest in one, or maybe just steal one from an old jacket. 😂
Hey, I have the identical bike in white, a 2022. I've only had it since October. Looking into mods (especially the pointless mirrors, lol) and nice to see the modifications you have done.
Thanks; it’s a great bike and I love it. What are some other mods you’re looking into?
@@motomaverickusa Remove those passenger pillions as you have, and a flyscreen.
@ArtHistoryNstuff332 I’m curious to know if it makes a difference with the wind. I don’t see how it could m, being so small, but I’ve been wrong before!
@@motomaverickusa Will find a way to let you know - it's on it's way!
@@ArtHistoryNstuff332awesome! Yea, just respond here and let me know!
Great review! How do you think this bike would be for 3-5 hour rides vs the bonneville?
I’ve done a couple ~5 hour rides on it and it’s totally doable. I can’t imagine the Bonnie would be a ton better, unless you put a windscreen on it. The Trident riding position is slightly more forward, so it just boils down to preference.
As a Bonnie owner who is about to have a Trident as a second bike, they're both comfortable but the Bonnie is a proper couch compared to a a good sitting chair that the Trident is. I'm 5'11" 240# with a 32" inseam.
@@mikegail7555 great info, thanks for sharing. Different riding positions always make me think about how my back would feel, one of the reasons I sold my cruiser. I find the slightly forward position helps keep the weight off my lower back. With the Bonnie being more upright, have you noticed any back pain on longer rides?
@@motomaverickusa Nope. No back pain, no hip, knee, neck, etc. On long rides it's typically just fatigue from sitting still for however long. But having put a couple hundred miles on Tridents about 30 minutes at a shot I'm interested in seeing how it does for longer rides of an hour or more. The Bonneville is a properly capable all-around bike and with your feet just a bit behind your knees it's still really maneuverable but the extra hundred pounds of curb weight over the Trident still means you have to be slightly mindful of diving into turns. A better rider than myself could probably get more out of my bike, but that's them. I want the Trident because at my skill level it's sharper than the Bonnie without much more input.
@mikegail7555 a Bonnie is definitely on my list of bikes I’d like to own. I’ve had a couple cruisers, still own the Trident and a Tiger 800. Almost bought the Bonnie over the Trident, but I just loved the naked look and maneuverability of it. Plus, I have a weak spot for the triple motor. Some track days are also a possibility in the future, and I think the Trident might be better suited for that.
How tall are you?
5’7” with a 29” inseam.
Have you ever ridden a MT-09? I wonder how similar the riding position is cuz I really like the Trident but I really don't like how awkward that little lean forward was for me. Im strongly considering the 2024 MT-09 and think it has everything im looking for but ive yet to sit on it which will be the deciding factor, seat position.
I did sit on an older model awhile back, but I can’t remember the riding position on it. I will say that can be adjusted with bar risers, or different handlebars altogether. As someone that rode a cruiser for years, then the Tiger, and now this, the sportier position did take a little bit to get used to. I have grown to like it, though, or at least my back has. 😂
@motomaverickusa Yeah ive been riding Harleys for years now so these style bikes are definitely going to be a big adjustment for me to get used to but I really just want something lightweight, faster and easier on my hips and tailbone. I've always preferred mini ape and mid controls setup on cruisers but I just want something much lighter, smoother, sportier, more convenient and comfortable now.
I’d definitely say the naked bike category would fit what you’re looking for. I really liked the styling of the Trident, which is why I went this direction. They will all be modifiable to fit your exact specs, but my suggestion would be to find the one that meets your power needs (this 660 is plenty for around town) and matches your aesthetics. I think the Trident looks incredible, fits that retro roadster vibe.
There is a cool TEC 'Fang' exhaust that sounds super sweet for the Trident. It's pretty affordable too. Nice bike! 👍
Yea, I like that one, too. I’m sure I’ll get something eventually. 😂 Thanks for the compliment; I really like this bike.
what kind of gear are you using to record your ride? it's noticeably smoother than your friend's pov
Just recently purchased the DJI Osmo Action 4 and I really like it over my old GoPros. I shoot at 4k/60 with 1/120 ISO and a ND8 filter in DLOG for color grading in post. I’ve been thinking about doing a video on my setup now that I’m getting it more dialed in.
Dude, that’s a nice looking bike
Thanks! I really enjoy this motorcycle. Definitely a solid purchase.
i hear quickshifter is a must
Yea, I’ve heard the same thing. I might be in the minority, but I actually like manually shifting. Same reason one of my cages is also a manual. Now, with that being said, I’ve never tried the quick shifter, so I can’t say for sure if I’d really like it or not.
Hi where did you get the grab rail from. Thanks
It’s the Hepco and Becker Passenger Grab Rail. I bought mine from MotoMachines. www.motomachines.com/hepco-becker-passenger-grab-rail-triumph-trident-660?srsltid=AfmBOorU1dvuaT1jPbCVYAej_3QaFUooP2gHi7e7ExPWmV6uJ5AgRNrs
Super Light Bike. Flickable as he says. I personally didn't like the riding position because I'm use to my cruiser. Very cool bike!!!
Yea, used to love the riding position on that cruiser. Started to hurt my back after awhile, though.
Does it fit a healmet?
It’s a tight fit, but I was able to get my large Arai Quantum X in there with the Sena Bluetooth communicator attached.
Coming soon. Im going solo camp
Let me know how it goes! Any gear you’re taking that’s in addition to what I have?
I want to do this, but the trident is not the best to pack down. Been thinking about the detachable side bags for it.
@@jings1926 you’d be surprised how much you can pack into side bags and a duffle bag. I used to camp with everything in the duffle.
@ definitely takes some experimenting. First didn’t leave me much room in the saddle. Lol.
For sure. Little shake down rides around town are great.
Weighs 370lbs dry. Wet is closer to 400lbs. But weight is all at the bottom.
This was awhile ago, so I don’t remember where I got the numbers from; most likely the manufacturer website.
Amazing and learning video. Makes me also feel riding and record a new video.
Thanks for watching!
Was it triumph dealer that did the service? If it was general service place did they really update ecu? That update should make engine fan run earlier preventing overheating.. there should be 3 bars in temp gauge after first service instead of 4
And also that update should fix heated grips problem them not getting hot enough..
@86Rommi Yes, it was a dealer that did the service on both bikes. I don’t have heated grips, so I can’t comment on that.
It is an Indian brand now not British.
Yes, you are correct
What is your set up for the quad lock?
I have the stem mount pro with the vibration dampener and wireless charging head. Wired it into the USB port under the seat. Love it!
@@motomaverickusa no issue with fit, I read I few reviews where they mention that stem mount does not work with the trident ?
It does work; I had to loosen the handlebar mount to move the handlebars a bit in order to get it to clear when I inserted it, but no issues otherwise.
sorry bro I can't accept this kind of clutch control.😬
Eh, new bikes take a little adjustment period, but I’m workin on it! I’ve got some adjustable aftermarket levers on my Trident.
Quick shifter and auto blipper? I don't see the issue.
@@msromike123 are you referring to my lack of clutch control? 😂
@@motomaverickusa No man, LOL. I just think for the most part you won't be using the clutch all that much on this bike because of the QS system. If you maintain the cable lubing it a few times a year I bet it will be just fine. They have to make the bike meet the price point and from a weight and cost standpoint a clutch cable makes sense. About to pull the trigger on a Trident just as soon as the '25s drop in a week or two. My dealer has three '24s left and the salesman hinted I might be able to get a better deal once the new year models arrive.
@@msromike123 yea, this Daytona was just a demo, so I don’t even know if it had the QS on it. I know my Trident doesn’t, but it’s on the long list of things I want to do to it. We’ll see how long that takes. Lol
Please post install video
I have the same jacket. Wore it today on 6/30/2024. I bought Marrakesh gear first. But still a bit warm above 90deg. So bought the Induction gear. Used it couple weeks back on a 1800 mi trip from AZ to WY and back.
I have worn several mesh jackets and find this the most comfortable.
Can you turn off the wrench that says service due?
You have to have special software in order to do that; look into TuneECU, I think that is the most widely used one. Otherwise, you have to take it to the dealer and pay to have them reset it, which is annoying.
@@motomaverickusa thank you
I heard triumph service in USA is horrible, people waiting for parts for 3 months and shit. You can't basically do service on your own because even if you change oil you not gonna be able to reset that service blinking icon on the bike. You have to take it to the dealer and they charge you like $100 for that reset and also no first free service and stuff idk if it's true?
This is my 2nd Triumph and I have had zero issues with dealers getting parts. I’ve actually ordered several things myself online; dealer in Cleveland has an extensive online catalog. There is software you can get to reset the light on your own. TuneECU is the most popular one.
Love the round mirrors, do You remember who makes them?
I bought them off of Amazon, made by Fenrir. I did an install video on them, so you can go check that out if you’d like! Here’s the Amazon link: a.co/d/6qTP9BW
Great! Thank You👍
Happy to help!
nice ride thank you
Happy to help. Thanks for watching!
What plugs did you use for the old mirror mount?
a.co/d/2u67GI4
Hey! What camera and microphone do you use to film this??
Thanks for watching! On this video I’m using a GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini on a Chin Mount attached to my helmet. Mic is the trusty ole Purple Panda.
I have Hi-Viz Induction jacket and pants. Above 95deg get yourself an Alpinestars Cooling Vest.
Yes, I agree. I’ve been looking into some “wetting” options, as I hear they make a big difference. Last big trip I did up to Colorado from Texas, I sure could’ve used it! It was nice and cool at 6am in July, but I was baking by mid-day.
Generally the break in oil is thicker than regular oil to let things bed in. After the oil change in the first service to the regular weight oil you'll have less drag on components allowing it to rev a bit quicker and gain a few horsepower.
Makes sense, but I wouldn’t think that oil viscosity would play a huge role in horsepower gains; I’ve done several break-ins, rebuilt some motors, etc. and haven’t noticed it like that before. I guess I was hoping there was some big reflash that tuned the delay out of the motor. Sadly, that didn’t happen.
