I've always wondered if Mary would have grown up to marry either Colin or Dickon
Thank you very much indeed 😊
So glad you enjoyed - and thank you very much for all your kind comments!
It's 4am and I'm still riveted.... must be 20 years since I stayed up all night to finish a book 😊
I'm binge listening tonight
I so hope you will narrate the entire Whimsey series. Dorothy L Sayers had such a clear way of describing people and how they behave in different situations. Reading her books as a child inspired me to read a great deal of other writers too.
Thank you so much for this..... one of my favourite stories and wonderful narration.... perfect diction and modulation for the period 😊
The pairing of Erik Satie and Poe is perfect! Although Gymnopedie will always remind me of The fire within, I love this! Thank you so much for sharing.
Love your narration, but slowed it down to .75, alittle too slow but I don’t miss any ideas that way. I think when this was written, people did speak more quickly than now
The reader is magnificent! So beautifully enunciated.
Thank you!
oh nastenka if only you knew how lonely i am now
your hand is cold, while mine burns with fire...how blind you are nastenka. killed me
thank you, i hope you achieve your dreams
another night
another beautiful episode
criminally underrated
insanely deep voice. beautiful
Thank you!
What a gem! Thank you for sharing your remarkable talents with the world.
That's very kind of you - thank you!
IF there exists a better version recorded.. I know it not. ✨️🇬🇧✨️high anglican perfection❤
Wonderful chapter! Piper, Piper, the red, red worm woke last night to the sound of the storm, her words were words I sailed upon...
Oh my goodness! It’s quite difficult for the Australian ear to adjust to those beautiful vowels. I was hoping for something to bore me to sleep, but this requires an alertness l was not prepared for. Definitely daytime listening.
Funny how awfully affected this accent sounds. This is Chumley Warner speak. Pre WWll. Which, of course, is when the stories are set. When there were servants even in quite modest homes. And char women and gardeners were all stupid, gossips, and possibly dishonest. What the hoi poloi really thought as they touched the forelock to the Wimseys of this world, even affable types like our hero, is best left to imagination.
The voice narrating the story whisks you right back to the roaring twenties. And the background noises are spot on! Thank you for uploading this pearl of a detective story🤗🍀
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words!
Great story. Enjoyed rewatching the TV episodes of Peter wimsey on you tube recently from the 1970s.
You read very well! Thank you for the audiobook
Thank you for listening!
WELL READ THAT MAN, Most enjoyable thanks awfully, what!
Impeccable quality! Thank you for your work, it was a great reading experience
Very nice
Thank you
What an excellent reading of an excellent book! You sir did this book a great justice. I see you have other audio books on your channel here; one of which being A Christmas Carol which is another favorite of mine. I will listen to them all. Thanks for such a treat!
Thank you - I appreciate it!
21:14 I admire how Toad’s curiosity with the vehicle led to his fulfillment of something that he enjoys. A life lesson there maybe.
He speaks a wee bit like Ian Carmichael, and a bit like Jeeves. Fun. Sometimes he even sounds like he's on coke, hmmm. 🤔. M

One of my favourite stories of all time. Thank you for your beautiful rendition.
Thank you for your kind words!
@@firesidetales2174 to my horror your wonderful reading of A night to remember appears to have been taken down.
I'm sorry - running into copyright issues at the minute, and am trying not to lose the channel, so to be on the safe side I've had to get rid of lots of my post-1920s published content. Believe me, it makes me sad too.
Funny how Shakespeare wrote so much yet was totally illiterate? His signature was X afterall. And was NEVER outside England yet wrote about Venice so accurately. Tis a true mystery, or do historians plus, really know the truth? Regardless, great stuff thatll live on forever!
Great reader. Thanks!❤
Thank you!
Thank you
Brilliantly read sir
Thank you!
Great to hear you again. Such a great storytelling voice.
Thank you for your kind words!
Thank you very much.
Thank you for listening!
This is english i like. But too fast reading for me (not a native).
Transcript: housekeeping allowance =husky melange😂
The reading is great but far too fast. It's ok if the text is in front of you.
Delightful story,so clever and beautifully read! Thank you😊❤
Thank you for listening!
Perfect.
Thank you!
@firesidetales2174 Thank you, good Sir. I'm now thinking which other tales would be good. So good to hear a human being speaking well.
Easily the best voice on any platform! We've missed you.
Appreciate that - thank you!

Thank you.
Welcome back, thanks for the new upload.
The “anonymous” narrator is one of the best ever…
Very kind of you - much appreciated!
Agreed. Uncommonly good. Saw a comment that it was read too fast and had to add my 2 cents that the reader ought not change a thing.
Thank you so much 🙏❤❤❤
You're most welcome!
